He looks like he would be an excellent early-down 3-4 MLB. We should have room for both.
I understand what you're saying but I don't see much value in recruiting anyone who can't play all three downs on defense. Why make play calling more difficult when all the offense has to do is run shallow crosses on first down to exploit the guy. If he was explosive in a straight line I would possibly take him. It is obvious that Michigan cut ties with him because he just isn't good enough. We need to start doing away with guys like this. There is a better player with more upside down the road in Kansas, and there's a better player in North Platte also.

Dude is pretty slow. He’s already pretty big. Gonna really have to work on the athleticism with this one. Probably one of the hardest things to improve.
I see a large kid playing football. That's kind of it. Give me Meyers all day.

Chin and D being helped by COVID. No one on Offense sticking around after COVID (e.g. Farniok, Jaimes, Stoll, etc..). How good would we feel about the D if Farmer, NPG, Payne and Rogers were starting instead of Deonti Wlliams, Dismuke, Stille and JoJo?
But imagine how you would feel if that Defense got a full spring and a normal year to showcase themselves?

If the offense improves, the defense will automatically improve. They won't be on the field as much, give our better players more rest, and the opponent will become more predictable in their schemes. I'm not saying the defense hasn't improved, but if the offense can be somewhat better, we will see an even better defense.
I want to add to this. You're exactly right and for this defense to thrive the way Chins wants it, they need the opportunity to take chances. It's hard to do that when your offense sucks.

Right? Everybody wanted him gone a year ago
And that was because of everyone's preconceived notions going into the regime. Game by game, year by year, the D was steadily improving, and kept Nebraska close in a handful of games. Anyone who was attempting to be objective saw by the end of 2018 that this was a Frost issue.

Chins was much more prepared than Scott when they came to Nebraska. He remembers the style of play and size difference. It's no surprise that the Defense is on the verge of a breakout. If they do, get the checkbook out. He will be a hot commodity D coordinator because he is also an elite recruiter.

Green jersey AM hype is funny.
1. 0% chance he ever plays in the NFL.
2. He’s not a 4.4 guy. There have been 7 college quarterbacks in the past 30 yrs that have ever been timed under 4.5.
Bottom-line. Don’t care about the yards or the completion percentage. AM is 1-13 vs Wiscy, Iowa, NW, OSU, Mich, Col. In 29 career starts, he has beaten 1 team with a winning record.
He is who he is. He’s a great kid, and he might be a little better this coming year, but he’s not gonna win ya a lot of big games.
How is this for hype?
Not only is he easily a 4.4 guy. After a few months of speed training for the NFL, he will run a 4.37. He's in the top 3-5 in pure speed on the team.

I thought he looked really good. Physically he is where he needs to be. Scott said he looks like a 4.4 guy out there. He was right. 4.4 easy. His throws downfield were pretty damn good, and it is nice to see him be able to throw in there without having to aim it like he had to with smaller receivers in the past. The thing that I liked the most was seeing him look comfortable which I don't think I saw since his freshman year. He looked in command and I think that is the difference.
Okay but back to his speed. I'd bet three big time, "Taylor Martinez esque" runs from him this year. He looks like a burner.

I like him. He just looks 5ft 9in and not 6ft.

Now a 4 star and #1 player in Kansas.
As he should be. If Nebraska were to get he and Meyers, they would be the cornerstone of this class.

Some talk that there are concerns his speed translates to a TE prospect at the next level, not a WR prospect.
It's a valid concern. You watch his tape as a WR and there isn't much twitch or explosion.

If this team gets good to real good QB play in the 2021 season, then the offense is gonna have a breakout year because of what you just mentioned.
In complete agreement.

We already knew what the Corp could do going into 2007. Maybe we will say the same thing in a couple years about these guys, but I am not there yet.
And I can understand why.

I would still take 2007 Corp of Mo Purify, Frantz Hardy, Todd Peterson, Nate Swift, and Terence Nunn with a young add ons of Menelik Holt and Niles Paul.
I think this is easy to say because of hindsight. Of course I would rather take the proven players. From an ability standpoint, Omar, Betts, Toure, Alante, Martin, Nixon, Grimes, Neville, and Hardy as a collective, surpass the ability of those you listed by a wide margin. Talent doesn't equal productivity but these guys are the best collection of raw talent this program has ever had at that position.

Could be a really good offensive weapon but has the potential to be an elite linebacker. I say but him on D.
-
When I see all this talent at WR, I just can't help but think how much this is going to help Austin, Travis, and Thomas. TE's are going to earn some money this year.

Explosive, and the kind of 220lbs you want to see. He has room to grow still and he moves so well. This is a 4 star middle linebacker.
-
He's too big and has bad feet. It's strange to see a kid and say he's too ready made physically but he is. There is no explosion in his hips and looks like a big kid in a weak league.

I think that's how I feel about the entire offense at this point but just looking at him he's easily the most imposing looking wide receiver we've had here in a long long time. I wish the B1G season were starting today as I just want to see him out there in a B1G game finally because when he's actually out there playing even if just practicing he certainly looks the part. Big, strong and looks like he still has wheels for his size.

I would argue that not having adequate speed makes everything else useless. I would hate to see him have to tackle a shifty RB in the hole.
