  1. I agree about the alleged CU-NU "rivalry," but that was one-sided. McCartney tried to put it together from his side and NU couldn't be bothered (and rightly so). In this case, I get the sense that Iowa is as eager to embrace the annual game with NU as many Cornhusker fans are. While it might seem artificial from some perspectives, I think by getting both sides excited about the game we'd be deepening what is already a subtle rivalry between two states that have a lot of similarities and that also share a long, fairly-populated border. If I'm wrong and giving the game a name would be too artificial, then by all means it's a bad idea; I just think that Iowa-Nebr is already looking to be more of a football rivalry than CU-NU could ever have been . . . and that we honor it by trying to deepen it.
  2. I saw that a few boards are suggesting that our soon-to-be annual tussle with Iowa should be called "Farmaggedon." Cute name, but already taken (the ISU vs. KSU game at Arrowhead uses it, I think). I propose: Acropalypse (A-CROP-alypse). or Prairie Fire Any other suggestions?

would this include the one I bought from the pawn store. Or do you think I need to earn it? If you say earn it I'm screwed It would work for me on a good day. Whether it would work for others might be up in the air a bit . . .

While there would be little or no effect in the short term, in the long term the worth of your degree is likely to go up should UNL become a B10 school. I base this view on a colleague who attended Stanford before it became the top-ten school it is today (it was largely unknown back in the day, he says). Now, when people find out that he's a Stanford grad, they have no idea that his education was of a lesser quality that that of more recent grads. In sum: twenty years from now, if UNL is hanging with the likes of Michigan, Northwestern, and Wisconsin, all UNL grads will benefit from the improved academic reputation of their alma mater.
