Okay but why would any P5 school be playing an out of conference away game several hundred miles away in November?

Improve their strength of schedule, or honestly just to shut everyone up that points out how ridiculous their OOC schedule is year after year. But mostly, I just hate how the SEC acts high and mighty but never have to deal with how much true cold weather affects your game. I feel like they dont understand how you have to be able to adjust to the cold. You know the kind of weather that when the old timers go outside they say "Now this is football weather".

At least Bama is finally playing a team up north at a real home site.

Only because it's still pretty warm, if it was November there wouldn't be a chance they'd come up to Wisconsin

I hope he is a good fit with his Dad and finds a home at KU.

The offensive scheme that Les Miles used in the past suggests that short of a old school triple option style team, there really isn't a better fit for him

I would imagine he wants to go up in the ranks but it can be tough to from HC to taking a position job, which is what he would probably have to do to get into the D1 level at first.

True, but when he left Fort Scott he went from HC to something like recruiting analysis at Indiana for Kevin Wilson

We will see.  He has brought in a fair amount of talent in his short time at southern.  Brought in quite a few power 5 kids that for one reason or another had to transfer.

It it is true about the support.  School has done a poor job in the past tying into the community.  He has put a lot of work in trying to change that.

Do you think Sims will be at MoSo very long? He really seems like the kind of guy who wants to climb to the highest level possible and if he has any success at all he's going use that to climb up the ladder. Not saying thats a bad thing or I blame him for trying to better himself and his career, I just don't see him really changing the culture there, since he will probably be a short timer. But I could definitely be wrong and he could end his career there.

Haha.  Sims is a whiny girl??  Dude has some swag to him.  Also looks like he has some structure and discipline in his program as opposed to the others. Liked him much more than the old EMCC coach or brown.

Sims is a jack wagon, but the dude has been successful at the JuCo level. I remember very well when he coached at Fort Scott. I had several buddies play for him there. He treated his players and assistant coaches like crap and threw fits if he didn't get his way. Bo caliber tantrums. He got ran out of Fort Scott because he freaked out and started cussing out umpires and other fans at his kids little league baseball game. IMO he should have stayed at the JuCo level, and he won't have the level of success he's used to now that he's at the D2 level because he won't be able to get the quality of athletes he had at JuCo. Plus Missouri Southern's school or community has never really supported the football team there

  7. The larger population in the south has to play a roll in this. They can build or add on to current stadiums and add capacity because they have the demographics to do so. If there was a large boom in the midwest and people were moving here like they are to the south, then a lot of schools in the BIG and Big XII would be in position to rise in numbers as well. I think per capita the BIG has the best turnout of all of the other conferences. But thats totally speculation

    Sarcastic or no?

No, I guess when I think of a pro-style QB, I think more along the lines of a Carson Palmer, AJ McCarron, type athlete. Maybe I'm confusing pro-style and drop back QB? Either way with this kids speed I figured he falls under the dual threat category

He’s gonna be a good one. Accuracy and ability to throw on the run are pretty impressive and things you can’t always teach.

Plus those track times don’t hurt his case either.

Makes a guy wonder why he is considered a pro-style QB

The biggest problem, at least in my opinion, has been Harbaugh’s inability to allow his offensive staff to run the offense as they want. Remember last year they brought in new coaches that were going to open that offense up to go along with the predominantly shotgun oriented, gunslinger in Patterson. What they got was a bastardized offense that didn’t play to anyone’s strengths.

So word this year is they’re starting new and embracing the RPO and kicking Harbaugh and his offense to the curb. They have enough talent that they shouldn’t be a problem in nearly every game. But, as you say, Harbaugh has his style, and that’s defense and ball control. It’s what he knows, and what he trusts. With so much pressure on him to finally beat Ohio St and finally earn that salary, can he trust his offensive coaches even if he might lose the game?

Sounds a lot like Les Miles when he was at LSU. Loads of talent that is hindered by the coach being willing to evolve and get out of his comfort zone

You've either not watched him all year or you're just a bad armchair psychologist  he always looks like that.

The only game I had watched him was vs the chiefs and he pretty smiled all night because they did whatever they wanted on offense :)

  12. I thought McVay looked like a deer in the headlights a lot during the game. They would show him on the camera and he was wide-eyed and looked like he didn't know what to do. I did love watching Suh push the o-lineman into Brady and knocking him down! It made me think back to win he single handedly dominated Texas.

  13. I know Gary Patterson is extremely tight with the coaching staff at Pitt State and used to bring his staff to the coaches clinics there in Pitt fairly often, which in turn means that Coach Nickelson (Jordans HS coach) is probably pretty familiar and comfortable with them. I wonder if that had any influence over him. IDK but good luck kid.

Well, I guess I can ask a third time. I would hate to jump to a negative conclusion since Toe has always been a solid poster. Come on, @Toe, what were you trying to say with your chart?

To be completely blunt I think he is trying to say there is a correlation between the density of African Americans and the success of college programs in those areas. And lets be 100% honest, that those areas do have a larger number of great athletes then the areas of the map that are not as dense with African Americans. I don't think he is trying to be racist, but I can see where it totally came across that way.

Programs in that area are more likely to keep those athletes, due to location to those athletes. We always harp on our 500 mile radius, well you can bet they are trying to do the same. Hell look at Miami back in the 80's and how they tried to win "The State of Miami". It's no different. Again Toe's map is showing that their is a correlation between the density of African Americans and the success of programs in those areas, and that if the map was flipped and the density of African Americans was much higher in the north than in the south then it's a reasonable assumption that the programs in the north would be winning more Championships then the teams in the south.

Again I don't think he is trying to be racist, but instead just pointing out what he believes to be the reason for the south's success
