  1. You know what else is bad for the remaining Big 12-2...with Nebraska gone, the conference is weakened for the BCS computer part. How many times has the BCS Championship pairing come down to the ridiculous computer ratings? For tens of millions, OU and Texas may have just screwed themselves. Heck, even letting Colorado go without a fight was stupid in that regard because the Buffs usually played a tougher non-conference slate than OU and Texas. It makes you wonder whether DeLoss Dodds and Joe Castiglione even care about winning and losing anymore. They appear to be so blinded by the money that they don't even know when they are cutting their own throats!
  2. Well in his defense over the rivalry, I'm pretty sure he was the AD at mizzou during the big 12 forming and not OU so he really didn't make that call. He still had a vote and my guess is he voted against the continued annual match up between NU and OU. That was actually Donnie Duncan who was the Oklahoma AD as the time the Big 8 absorbed the four SWC teams. After that bit of treachery, he went on to work for the Big 12. In fact, he's still in charge of the championship game. Wonder why everything ends up in Texas? Jackholes like former OU Donnie Duncan are a huge part of it.
  3. This whole thing is embarrassing. I was ashamed enough at OU for standing with Texas instead of Nebraska last week. Now, this. It's really hard to continue being a Sooner fan with Joe Castiglione as AD and David Boren as president. There isn't a hint of ethics between the two of them. It's sickening to me that OU and Texas, the two schools who least need the money, are sticking it to the rest of the conference for tens of millions more. I can't even believe it's happening. I've railed against Texas for so long, but OU is now in bed with them all the way. It's awful. I hope you guys kick the sh*t out of the whole conference this year and take the Big 12 title. In fact, if it's us against you all, I'll be cheering for you all. I can't believe how greedy and unethical OU has become under Boren and Castiglione. I wonder how Mizzou feels knowing their former AD Castiglione now extracts millions from them for the sake of Texas. What a Judas. You'd think he'd have some feeling for the school that gave him his first AD job. What a complete and utter a*shole.
  4. Exactly. Castiglione is full of crap. OU has the power to stand on it's own. He could have taken Nebraska's side against the stupid ultimatum, but he didn't. He's a conniving bastard who has been planning with Texas all along. He disgusts me.
  5. 1. and 2. - That's a given because the Big Ten is more competitive than the Pac-10 3. Having gone to school with Stallings' daughter and met him, I can assure you that he could care less about what Texas did in the late 60s. 4. This is the most laughable thing of all considering that the SEC schools already recruit Texas, including Alabama who just mopped the the Rose Bowl floor with Texas five months ago. It's also laughable because Florida produces just as many great athletes are Texas does. 5. Check the Longhorns' senior class and you'll find they're all majoring in "physical culture", "corporate communications", or "youth communcations"...so, the talk of athletics and academics with Texas' football team is wholly laughable as well Face it, A&M may wise up and ditch Texas.
  6. For me, it was OU-NU because it decided the Big 8 championship. Texas...they are what they are. If we never played them again I wouldn't be sorry. My family is from Oklahoma, but I grew up in Dallas. I've been to many OU-Texas games in my day, but quit going in 2004. It just became too much. Longhorn fans were shouting things at my wife and family...it just isn't worth it. It's not that it was any different than any other OU-Texas game. It's just that at some point, life takes on a different meaning and you just don't want to put up with that garbage. There's really no point in exposing your family to drunk jackasses. So, I just stopped going to the Texas games. I miss dearly the old OU-NU rivalry. Win, lose, or draw the vast majority of the fans got along. Unfortunately, it was never even close with Texas fans. And, these days, too many young Sooner fans don't have enough respect for Nebraska and the rich history they brought to Oklahoma's program. I'm sorely disappointed at OU right now. Like I said, I'm going to miss you guys. Being in conference and in games with you all always meant more to me than the Texas game. I'd sacrifice OU-Texas in the blink of an eye to get back what we had with OU-NU.
  7. Heh. Well, those days may be returning to us soon. With everything that has gone on with our basketball program, the NCAA has us under a microscope. In a dark, dark way, I wish that it would happen so Castiglione would be forced out. The funny thing about Stoops, too, is that he doesn't like to schedule games against friends or family. He's balked at playing Iowa and Arizona. Although, now he's going to have to play Arizona. And, you'll find a pretty sizable contingent of Sooner fans who believe Mike was more of the driver on defense than Bob anyway. I always thought Mike would hold out for a Big Ten job and was really surprised when he took the Arizona job. I loved Pelini for the season he was at OU because we shut out Texas for the first time since 1972. Vince Young at QB, Roy Williams at WR, Cedric Benson in the backfield...and zero points against Pelini!
  8. I don't see why this couldn't happen. You have Florida/FSU, Clemson/SCar, GT/UGA, and others who play yearly out of conference... It won't happen because Stoops and Castiglione only want one "tough" out of conference game per season, and we've got Florida State (2010-11), Notre Dame (12-13), Tennessee(14-15), Ohio State (16-17), and LSU (18-19) already up for the next decade. Plus...if they're not fighting to stay with Nebraska now.... Anyway, I miss the days of playing you all at Thanksgiving for all the marbles. It was a good, friendly rivalry. Too few of those these days.
  9. For what it's worth, it'll be exciting to see you guys lined up annually against Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. I wish we could join you there. I'll still be cheering you all on as I have for years.
  10. Wouldn't that be awesome? The Big XII splits us up, but if we were to win our conference every year we could still play, and for all the marbles. Just like the old days. I hadn't thought of it that way. I feel a tiny bit better. Tiny. But, odds are they'll try to do a playoff now and squash that as well.
  11. That's my thinking. I'd love for OU to go to the SEC if they have to go anywhere. But, believe me, Joe Castiglione and Bob Stoops want no part of an SEC year in and year out. Sadly, Stoops has lost all the edge he came into the job with 12 seasons ago. They tried to get UCLA to back out of a game in 2003 when we had Alabama scheduled as well. It makes me cringe that any change these days isn't about better competition. You guys are going to a conference with excellent tradition, big stadiums, etc. We're getting USC every four years and nothing else in the way of competition, tradition, good stadiums to visit...outside of the Rose Bowl. But, again, that's only every four years or so.
  12. I grew up watching OU and Nebraska battle for the Big 8 title every year. Therefore, I was not happy when our former athletic director, Donnie Duncan, sold the rivalry up the river at the formation of the Big 12. Unfortunately for fans like me, our current athletic director Joe Castiglione has now outdone Duncan in allowing Texas to push Nebraska out of the conference. It makes me sick to my stomach that our president and athletic director seem to care nothing about our old Big 8 alliances. I hate that college football has come to this. For the past 14 years, now, we've been forced to take on Texas Tech and Baylor as conference mates. Now, we're trading away the bulk of our entire history for Arizona and Arizona State. It's awful. My respect for Nebraska is as high as it ever was. Where OU has been my #1 team, Nebraska has always been #1A. I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe the people running the conferences have so little regard for the traditions and fans.
