  1. Again a one game difference, even with a slightly more difficult schedule doesn't do much to distinguish your season/teams from ours. The difference between 8-3 and 7-4 is minuscule at this point.
  2. It's getting a little warmer review on the Iowa boards. Of course we had to deal with that Iowa vs ISU debacle.... http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/football/38038-heros-game-trophy-pictures.html#post610918
  3. Our defense certainly hasn't played up to our historic standards that's for sure. It will be interesting to see who wins the battle between a QB not known for his accuracy and a defense not known for stopping passing attacks. As I said in another thread, on many levels this game has devolved into the battle of who sucks least.
  4. I don't know what to tell you other than I speak the truth. Bear in mind our opposing completion % allowed is always going to be up there. We allow a lot of underneath stuff to avoid giving up big plays. We try to balance that by getting pressure with the front four and using solid positioning from the back seven to capitalize on the opposing QB's mistakes by getting picks. It's been that way for the last 12 years. It drives lot's of Iowa fans nuts but it's hard to argue it hasn't been effective over the years.
  5. Do yourself a favor and avoid going to Tuscon if you ever play Arizona. Ohh, I should mention NSFW due to language.
  6. We dealt with this against MSU a few weeks back. It is fairly obvious when it happens, at the same time it's football so you get dinged pretty much on every play.
  7. So which is it? They are better against the run or the weakness is the depth along the front 7? It's both. We are better against the run giving up about 15 yards fewer per game and 3.8ypc to your 4.1. We are fairly solid run D and play a gap control scheme pretty well. That said we have been unable to generate a consistent pass rush with our front four which has left our secondary and LB's hanging in coverage for 5+ seconds far too often. That's resulted in a pretty poor statistical pass defense despite the fact our secondary probably our most talented unit with 3 guys that have realistic chances of moving on the NFL when they are done with college.
  8. Trying to make friends huh................... What's the fun of a rivalry week without a little smack talk , wait, you guys are too arrogant and don't consider us worthy of being a true rival, wait, I'm doing the smack thing again.
  9. I find it amusing that there is quite a bit of talk about "Nebraska losing this game" and none of "Iowa winning". Some of you act like the only way for Iowa to win is if Nebraska hands them the game. I got news for you, based solely on the on field performance this year Nebraska hasn't done much to distinguish themselves from Iowa. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion Nebraska is the better team, and this is one of our least talented teams in the last 3-4 years.
  10. Excuse me?!?!? You realize NU's top corner is better than their top two by himself. Zo and Green right now>>>than Prater and whom ever the other asshat is. HMMMM you mean the other a$$ hat who won the bowl game for Iowa last year on a 65 yard pick six late in the 4th quarter? The guy who led the B1G Ten in Int for a time? Yea he is better than our number two corner....which is not saying a whole lot really as our corners opposite Dennard have struggled, and Yes of the 4.... Dennard is #1, Prater is easily #2, and Hyde is easily #3....yea there really are better players on teams other than NU, and Iowa has a few, Daniels would also start for NU IMO. What I mean by your bolded part of my statement is in tandem their top 2 is better than our top two....if I am a QB I would prefer to throw against a team that had #17 out there vs #18 from Iowa...is my point. It takes two quality CB's to be dominant against the pass....we have had that when we were a truly good defense 2010 1994 1995 1999 etc...that has not been the case in 2011. Bernstein was a player we wanted out of Lincoln High school in DSM, we actually wanted him as a RB or CB(4 star recruit I believe), but he is a very athletic safety (compared to #8 especially), but he has been hurt, although he is healthy now. Again I know their team pretty well, this is not coming out of my A$$...but it is only my opinion...finally relax we will most likely win if we contain Coker but their weakness is NOT their secondary..if anything it is their depth along the front 7, they have wore down, and they have sustained losses, like we have along their DL. Bernstine would have been a corner for us but he suffered a pretty horrific ankle injury in his sophmore year. He lost a lot of lateral quickness and moved to safety this year as we lost two safeties to graduation and the NFL. He's very fast for a safety and plays much bigger than his listed size. When he hits people, they tend to go in the opposite direction they were going before. I've very interested to see some of the collisions between Bernstine and Martinez and Burkhead.
  11. I hate to burst your bubble but its foolish to say the game is more important to Iowa fans. The reality is its just another B10 game. I mean I guess there might be some who take more satisfaction from beating you guys than let's say Purdue, but its not like this game somehow defines our whole season just because its Nebraska. Obviously its a big game for both teams as its the last game and to some degree will go a long way in defining whether or not the season was successful, but thats more of a function of where it is in the schedule. I can tell you personally there are lots of games thst mean more to me, wisky, scUM, the real NU... Maybe its a bigger issue on the western side of the state. The SW side in particular is pretty backwoods and hillbilly, its almost as bad as Nebraska. That said I guess I don't understand why being a Target for some fans is reason to look down on them, I take it as a compliment (btw it drives me nuts when Iowa fans do this to ISU also)
  12. Meh, maybe I'm not the norm, but I couldn't have cared less about nebraska until this year.
  13. Nebraska couldn't care less about Iowa. We have played 5 times in about the last 50 years. They are the same to us a Colorado St, Wyoming, Utah, MInnesota, Fresno St, Pacific, Arizona State, South Dakota St, or Florida Intl. If they are on our schedule, we care, it not, we don't give them a second thought. They are unspeakably offended by our indifference to them, and take that as a personal insult. They feel that we should be as obsessed with them as they are with us, and consider us to be arrogant and ignorant because we don't (ironic, isn't it?). Iowa, however, is absolutely obsessed with Nebraska. Both Hawk and Clone fans hate us worse than the Nazis. Both are among the most thin skinned, inferiority complex ridden human beings I have ever been around. Both "fan" bases like to paint Husker fans as arrogant, conceited, stupid, and ignorant, which I find to be highly ironic. To Hawk fans, a Husker loss is better than a Hawk win. I can understand ISU hating Nebraska, since we have abused them since the inception of football, but Hawk fans are something else. They are complexed and offended that Nebraska sports media spends most of their time on Husker football. They are offended that people in Nebraska have the audacity to wear Husker shirts and support our team. They act as if Nebraska is a territory of Iowa, and we should be thankful that the great Ukniversity of Iowa allows us and our program to exist (talk about arrogant). I am honestly afraid for the mental well being of any Hawk fan that comes to Lincoln Friday. They might just see about a hundred thousand people wearing red chanting "Go Big Red!!!!!" I don't think that with their fragile mental makeup, that they can handle such attrocities. They liken a little good natured ribbing from a Husker fan to a Husker fan walking into their family holiday dinner, punching their dad in the face, calling their mom a whore, peeing in their baby's bottle, and taking their wife back into their bedroom to have sex with her. I don't know if I have seen a more sensitive, more inferior fan base. Maybe texa$$ fans, but I think that even Whorn fans have thicker skin. This is probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen on Al Goes mighty invention. It's easily top five. However its nice to see Hunter74 is just as big a tool on his own board as he is on ours. The reality is Iowa fan recognizes Nebraska football historically is head amd shoulders above Iowa. We also realize the last decade Nebraska has been a completely different team, very similar to Iowa. We don't begrudge you for dwelling on the past, as if our history was what yours is we probably would too. Well we might begrudge you a bit, but only because your last ten years is a bell of a lot more relevant to who you are now than the back to back title are.
