  1. To pass judgement on events you know nothing about is even dumber. I went to Iowa State and had season tickets while I was in school. I've been to a couple of ISU-NU games in Ames since that time wearing NU gear. 95% of the fans I encountered were good sports and and had good things to say about NU. That being said I wasn't sitting next to you yesterday, but I have a hard time believing that the entire fan base of ISU has turned into complete jerks. I never said they were all bad. I doubt the "95% of the fans" you encountered was a statistically valid sample. Take the anecdotal reports and draw your own conclusions. Passing judgement on people who make the reports is stupid. My initial statement wasn't directed at you, it just happened to be under your post. I am making no judgements about anyone here, I'm saying that the statement, "ISU fans are idiots" is stupid if you are basing it on a couple of incidents. Are there ISU jerk fans? Sure. Are there crappy Husker fans? Sure. Well that clears things up. Using that as a criterion, how can we form an opinion on anything? We should just see reality as a progression of unrelated random events, taking care to draw no conclusions for fear of stereotyping. Political correctness run amok. Sounds great! No thanks. I prefer to use my personal experiences as a guide to future actions. Label that any way you want.
  2. To pass judgement on events you know nothing about is even dumber. Are you saying that one experience gives people the right to judge an entire fan base? Where did I state that? But while were on it, people have the "right" to form any opinion they choose. Just as I have the right to form an opinion of you based on your hyperjudgemental "holier-than-thou" posts.

  5. My last experience at Ames was an NU loss. A jerk-off ISU fan blocked me and my son's exit after the game with a flurry of expletive deleted's, proclaiming ISU is the new King of the North Division. I asked him how many football trophies the Cyclones had in their trophy case, informing him that we have over 40 conference championships and 5 NCs. He looked like a deer in headlights trying to come up with a witty response as we walked right around him and out of the stadium.
  6. I guess we will disagree. I have read and responded to all your points while you have responded to only a few of mine, so your condescending tone that I can't read or understand your points appears hypocritical. Does that help clear things up? Green has been at NU for one spring more than Martinez. That's it - a few months. Reread your comments and understand why I consider them biased at best. Your sarcasm aside (I think we all know that offenses want to score points), that's not the only purpose. For instance, if you hold a 24 point lead already, running out the clock and not turning over the ball become more important. And maybe continuing to try scoring points with the starting QB injured might actually not be the best strategy for winning the game. That is if winning the game is the ultimate goal instead of just scoring points on offense. I think, and I hope others reading this do as well, that you're trying to craft an argument against Watson not based on the actual facts, but instead on your own previous belief. You are still trying to convince us that Watson had a bad game against what was the best defense in the league (arguably), despite the facts that NU put up 31 points and didn't play with the starting QB for half the game. You have no clue what my beliefs are. We don't know each other (thankfully). Bias is in the eyes of the beholder apparently. I haven't responded to all of your points because I consider most of them irrational and not worth the effort. And it's not sarcasm, I mean everything I say. This exchange no longer serves a useful purpose. You even have to re-use my lines because you can't come up with any of your own. You're boring me. Good night.
  7. Do you have an ax to grind against Watson? He absolutely butchered the #1 run defense in the B12 last week. And that's with the starting QB on the bench for the 2nd half. How is setting the single-game rushing record NOT a "hell of a game"? Especially against that competition. And without the 2 turnovers from us which led to 14 points, ISU only scores 10 points in regulation. I'm pretty sure we scored more than 10 even without the TO's. And Watson has only had a year and a half with Martinez, and TM is looking better every game. I'm really impressed with his progress this season as both a passer and game manager. Do you have any other lame straw man arguments you'd like to put forward? LOL! Whether I have an axe to grind against Watson is irrelevant. Like me asking if you have a thing for Watson. Irrelevant. But I guess Ad Hominem is what you use when you have nothing else. Apparently what you do have is some basic reading issues. I posted Watson took advantage early of some bad Missouri defensive schemes, then was held to 7 points the next 3 quarters and 5 minutes of the game. Hardly great offensive playcalling most of the game. Sound familar? If your forget again, I can repeat it. You're wrong about scoring more than 10 points w/o the TOs. Martinez is a natural talent. Watson has little or nothing to do with his speed or reflexes. Based on his performance developing Green, I doubt Watson has developed much if anything in the quality of the kid's play. Fair enough on the "ax to grind" comment, I will not judge your motives. But I LOL when, right after critizing me for the Ad Hominem, you say "Apparently what you do have is some basic reading issues." I saw what you posted and read it with understanding. But you're trying to discredit Watson's most successful part of the game and then blame him for the rest, as if the game was really only the last 3 quarters. Further, you didn't even address why you give Watson no credit for the 307 yards by Helu. You are correct that NU only scored 7 points the last 3 quarters and 5 minutes of the Mizzou game. But NU had 25:16 TOP in the final 3 quarters, including 13:11 in the 4th to salt the game away, Helu gained 164 of his 307 yards during that span, and NU's offense gained 192 yards. No turnovers against MU. And that is all still against the best run and scoring D in the conference with the 2nd string QB. You're right. Both ISU and NU scored 14 points off turnovers. We would have been tied at 10 a piece. Watson is still handicapped by having only the 3rd string QB on the road for the ISU game. So you blame Watson for the lack of development of Green, but Martinez is only good because of his special talents. That's an argument that holds no water. I can just as easily say the reverse - Watson deserves all the credit for developing Martinez, but Green is simply untalented and couldn't be developed. Neither argument is backed by anything but our own biases. We will agree to disagree. My comment on your reading skills was an observation based on your ignoring my previous post, not ad hominem. If I'd said you were too dense to understand my post, that would be ad hominem. That help clear things up? If Green is untalented, then Watson should have rotated him to a new position rather than continue to try to force a square peg into a round hole. In any case Green has been in the system a lot longer than Martinez. I doubt Watson has had much if any influence on Martinez capabilities as a QB, but he should have on Green. The results are disappointing to say the least. So I don't equate the two. And I hold Watson responsible for what we saw today either way. Just in case you didn't know, the primary purpose of a football offense is to score points. Not avoid turnovers (although that's a plus), not to gain yards (although that's also good), but to score points. Watson's offenses don't score many points against good defenses, except as short term flukes exploiting temporary defensive lapses like the first 10 min of the Missouri game.
  8. I think this was common knowledge before today. It is now.........

No, He's right about the TO's. Helu's fumble at our 43 and Paul's at our 14. Both led to TD's and both short fields. You don't get to throw out our takeaways but keep theirs....well, you do to support your argument but it doesn't work. Right, when a player is mediocre Watson isn't developing them but when we watch them grow it is bc/ of their own natural talent. Yep. I see your point. We were talking about our scores, not ISUs. How exactly can you determine how much Martinez has grown based on a few games? And if he has, how can you claim it's Watson's doing? Oh, I guess you can make any non-quantifiable claims to support your premise. Right.
  10. I agree with everything you said. I'd add: Paul Rhoads has huge stones "and an ego to match". That 2 point call was called to make him a star.

  12. Really? He coached a hell of a game last week, but can't coach this week. Even though he's only got the 3rd string QB and there's a 30 MPH wind out there. blah blah blah Watson caught Mizzou in some bad defensive schemes early, then was held to 7 points the rest of the game. Hardly a "hell of a game" if you ask me. Without our defense forced turnovers, we'd have lost by 3 TDs today. Watson's had 3 years to develop Green. Look what it's produced. Didn't you also want to mention Watson had the sun in his eyes as another lame excuse? Three years to develop Green? Cody hasn't been in the system that long. He's a good athlete but he still has to do a lot of maturing. I don't believe Green will ever "mature" into a good QB. He should have been switched to another position long before now. Green's a good athlete and a team player. He should be given a chance to play and succeed in some other spot.

  14. What did we learn today? 1. Cody Green is a heck of an athlete but not QB material. 2. Niles Paul won't protect the ball and should never return another kickoff or punt. 3. Watson can't coach an offense. 4. We can't get consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing. 5. If we won't (or can't) pass on first down against a stacked defense, we will probably lose. Did I miss anything?
  15. Quote from the link: "I was not shocked to learn Cunningham was an offensive lineman at Washington in the late 1980s when Gary Pinkel was UW's offensive coordinator. Pinkel, of course, is now Missouri's head coach". Does this help support your conspiracy theories?
  16. Boys boys boys! I'm sure Coach Pinkel meant his filing in the best possible way. After all, we really can't impune the motives of our opponents, can we? We also need to be sensitive to the feelings of our longtime Missouri posters, who might think poorly of us for our harsh words regarding Coach Pinkel. Let's just all try to get along and take whatever suspensions Mr. Beebe sees fit to impose on the Huskers without question. After all, he is the Big 12 Commissioner and I'm sure will do the right thing.
  17. I think we should all get off Coach Pinkel's case. We might offend some of our Missouri posters who will think less of us.
  18. Let me try to clear some things up. Tigernuts and Fro have an agenda. Their agenda is to convince us that there is no significant difference between the Missouri fan base and Nebraska's. This appeals to a minority of Husker posters who just want to be liked and accepted by our football opponents. They need love. Personally, it makes me throw up in my mouth.... I unequivocally reject their thesis based on 12 years experience living in Missouri. I'm also a graduate of a Missouri University. The difference (on average) is night and day. Want proof? Just go over to the Tigerboard and see how our posters are treated. Ask any NU fans that have attended games in beautiful Columbia MO how they were treated. Ask a Kansas fan how classy Mizzou fans are. Read some of the colorful commentary produced by Bernie M., the sports writer for the largest newspaper in Missouri. Finally, watch the reaction of the MU apologists when someone disagrees with them. No more mister nice guy! Are there bad NU fans? Sure. Are there good MU fans? Of course. Just like all Nazis weren't bad. Does that make them "just like us"? Heck no!! Nebraska fans really are something special. Don't be afraid to make that point. Ask the Missouri fans who just attended the game. I didn't see a single instance of harrassment. In Columbia, after they win, it's a VERY different story. Trust me on that. At least the Missouri apologists know what they're trying to do. The Husker softheaded "we are all the same kum-bye-yah" crowd haven't a clue.
  19. No kidding. The dude is "shock jock" writer for a St. Louis newspaper and didn't even attend Mizzou. Hell, he's from Maryland. LOL!!! Don't think Bernie is representative of the Tiger Nation? Check out the Tigerboard. It's full of BM's. Just like you two. Whoa... way out of line, Fro Daddy is a respectable poster on this board, been here for a long time and is a long time MU fan (not just a bandwagon fan since 07) and Tigernuts has been very respectful and not talked sh&%, just straight up football talk, so no reason to insult them. Your making husker nation look bad Oh Boo hoo. Boo Hoo. You apparently haven't noticed some of their gentle posts directed at me. If they can't take the heat, they should get off the board. If you want to play kissy-face with them that's your business. Also please forward the memo appointing you the Universal Arbiter of All Things Nebraska Football.

Check out the Tigerboard. It's full of BM's. Just like you two. Message Board Smack!!! Missouri Classlessness. "Missouri Football will never achieve prominence due to it's institutionalized arrogance". -Frank Broyles Former MU Football Head Coach

  22. Just when you think this hack "writer" couldn't stoop any lower: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/bernie-miklasz/article_aba70d4a-e471-11df-b202-0017a4a78c22.html Bernie is a fitting spokesperson for the Missouri footbal fanbase. Missouri Football: Arrogant in Victory, Classless in Defeat
  23. There were bad calls both ways. I can think of a serious face mask on Gabbert and at least a couple of PI calls that were missed. There is no conspiracy, missed calls are part of the game. Funny, that's not what Tigerboard is saying about Gabbert's fumble. But it's what one would expect from you based on your previous delusional posts. Sorry to win and run but..... BTW, I like you new moniker H8TR. Very accurate if I say so myself.
  24. All these examples that you found just look like the writers were stating facts...not cheap shots or insults...... personally i dont know why anyone would be upset if someone called your coach full of himself. Has anyone ever meet a high level college or pro coach who wasnt atleast a little? Thats an ego profession. To me its normal, common and expected. Feel free to call Pinkel any name you want.
  25. If Bernie is so classy, then why put in the bush league petty digs at all? It doesn't take more than a few personal slams to color the whole article. We've yet to see you produce a single example of Nebraska writers doing the same to Mizzou, only your lame "go find them yourself"; translation: "I can't back up what I say". I made the effort to reference direct quotes. Are Missourians simply too lazy to do that? Apparently so. I think you got the wrong guy or you can't read. I'm not sure how you interpreted "he's generally an idiot" as he "is so classy". And I linked an article earlier by Scott McKeown. LOL! That was the best you can find? Really? Nice research ace. Given how common you say it is, shouldn't there be loads of recent quotes? Or are you just as lazy as I assume you are? Your assertion that Bernie was really just patting MU on the back is more Missouri BS. So what if you admit Bernie is an idiot? He's a Missouri sports writer, we already know that. If, as you propose, we are all alike, ever wonder why Mizzou fans (and their sports writers) are NEVER described as "classy" by ANYBODY? No, probably not.
