  1. Well, he knows written English Bipolar. This puts him one up on you....
  2. What should you brush up on? Simple. In order of importance: 1. Recruit 2. Recruit 3. Recruit "Walking out onto the field with the Selmon brothers makes me a great coach" -Barry Switzer
  3. What a price we've paid for the program's internal "good 'ol boy" coach networking. Nebraska's decline started when coaching selection and retainment became based on petty personal politics rather than ability and performance that continues to this day. It's no coincidence this team looks eerily similar to a Solich or Callahan coached team against top opponents.
  4. Cotton can't be canned. Period. He's WAY too connected inside the program. Perhaps a "promotion" to an administrative position in the AD offices?
  5. Nebraska's decline started when coaches were selected and retained based on personal politics rather than ability. It's continuing today with the on-the-field results looking VERY much Solich-like.
  6. After 4 years, I've come to the conclusion that 3-4 losses per year is as good as we're ever going to see. This coaching staff has reached it's level of competence in terms of recruiting, player development, game planning, and during game adjustments. Until changes are made, either in recruiting, assistant coaching staff upgrades, basic coaching philosophy, or head coach replacement, this is as good as it gets for Nebraska. No league championships, no BCS bowls, and no NC's. Ever. In 1992, Dr. Tom was at a similar place and re-vamped the entire program. It took quite a few consecutive bowl losses for him to swallow his pride and admit the need for wholesale changes. Needless to say, it worked. Just blaming the players or the schedule is a cop out and doesn't address much less fix the long term issues. Can Pelini admit things need to improve or will he take Dr. Tom's initial approach blaming "lack of player execution" as the reason Husker linebackers can't cover future All NFL Miami WRs?
  7. "Which is exactly what I said in point 3. Tim Beck pinkeled himself today". I'll drink to that!
  8. Great point!!!! How can we mere fans possibly know bad football when we see it?
  9. My vote is coaching. When systemic problems don't get any better thru the season, that's bad coaching. If some players can't learn and there are no quality replacements, it's poor recruiting.
  10. "Hmm, there were 110 THOUSAND people there. They cited THREE specific examples. I'll say he received heckling from less than 50 people. boo fricking hoo. Then he proceeds to admit that he knew what he was getting into. So the point of this article is __________." -Accountability Ever heard of the concept of "Statistical Sampling", Accountability? Didn't think so. Let me help educate you. In layman's term, what do you think it means if a sample of 50-100 randomly selected people from a larger population all have exactly the same attitude? Used all the time to predict elections. See, even the dullest tool in the shed can learn something!
  11. I suspect Penn State cynically used us to put on yet another positive PR performance to counter the horrendously bad press this scandal has dumped on them. Nothing more. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/12/penn-state-stadium-profanity-scorn-joe-paterno/
  12. http://www.washingto...rn-joe-paterno/ Ask any of the NU coaching staff what happened after the Happy Valley games in 1982 and 2002. Heck, I'm sure there are some Husker fans that would swear folks in Boulder are as nice as they can be.
  13. Nothing like an early day game, a horde of extra state police, and a stern warning of what to expect from authorities if any of the locals caused any more trouble like last Wednesday night to get even Happy Valley folks to clean up their act. That and the fact Penn State knew very well they were under intense national scrutiny. Yep, saints every one of them. This time.
  14. Mr. Maggo lives. Next time we'll submit our opinions for your moral judgement prior to posting.
  15. JoePa has just hired a DC Criminal Defense attorney. He knows what's coming. When the PSU moral cesspool is finally drained, might I suggest the following name changes: Happy Valley to "Creepy Valley" Penn State to "State Pen" Nittany Lion to "Nittany Lyin' " JoePa to "JokePa"
  16. Mr. Sandusky is singing like a bird. Much worse is yet to come.......
  17. I didn't count them. But apparently you did. Good for you! I was going with the television reports. What are you going by? But thanks for the meaningless "correction". "The average man learns from his mistakes, The superior man from the mistakes of others. The fool never learns." -Otto von Bismarck
  18. Penn Staters treating visiting fans with respect? What planet are you from? More Penn State BS. Sorry, no sale. PSU's cover has been blown. Some inconvenient facts: In 1982 our players were physically attacked on the field after the game while the "police" looked on. Turner Gill was struck in the face and his helmet stolen. I was at the game. My family and I were verbally harrassed and abused all the way to our car, even by traffic cops. In 2002, the PSU campus police advised our coaching staff to evacuate our cheerleaders as they could no longer guarantee their physical safety. PSU "fans" were throwing beer bottles at them. Hundreds of Husker fans reported "incidents". Last Wednesday, 10,000 Penn State "students" ran amok on campus, attacking police with rocks, destroying a news van, lightposts, and a private car. The chief of the campus police described all of it as mere "shenanigans:, not a riot at all. Death threats have been directed at the assistant coach who told Paterno about the shower room child assault in 2002. Several locals have indicated violence is being planned for the game. Having lived in Virginia and Ohio, I can assure you Penn State's hostility toward visiting fans is legendary. I advised my daughter not to attend the game. To all Husker fans attending the game at that open air nut house, be very careful.
  19. If Joe Pa could personally select his "special" officials for big games like he did to us in 1982 when PSU was an independent, Penn State would indeed win. Unfortunately for Joe, the Big 10 oversees referee selection now.
  20. This result is inevitable. Both our offensive and defensive lines are getting pushed 2 yards off the ball.
  21. Our DBs play 6 yards off the receivers, always positioned to the outside. This leaves us wide open to over the middle slants, which is where a lot of the damage is being done. Mixing things up, jamming the receivers at the line, playing to the inside, etc. would add at least some uncertainty to the QB's thinking. When your defense becomes predictable, you're cooked as we were last Saturday. Well done.
