I get why they tamper and I am fine with it.  I might be insane but I think the more choices a kid/adult has the better.  Does it sucks at times, sure.

As far as the playoff, letting only 4 teams in ruins things, it doesn't make it better.  It should be 16 teams.

Each division winner from the P5 conferences (Big 12 can figure out how to create divisions).  That is 10 teams right there, the next 6 are selected by ranking.  Do away with conference champion games if you want.

12 regular season games.  2 teams would end up playing 16 games.  4 teams would play 15 games, 8 teams wold play 14 games and 16 teams (plus bowl teams) would play 13 games.

Why not keep the conference championship and just got to an 8 team playoff, with 5 conference champions auto and 3 at large? Then the committee ranks 1-8 and sets playoff bracket.

I don't get the obsession with foreign game.... weren't people complaining about missing out on a home game and the businesses and whatnot?

What does this game bring to the program? more exposure? Nebraska is pretty well exposed at this point

It brings a lot. Sales point for recruiting and rewarding players in the program who have not had a bowl trip/experience.

Also it is not one of Nebraska’s home games so it won’t affect game day sales and local businesses.

I hadn't noticed that he was now on the football team until the Spring Game.  I knew he was a really good athlete and was glad he was getting a chance to be on the team.

But after seeing that he is right at the top of most of these testing numbers, I wonder if he won't work himself into some playing time, at least on special teams.

There is speculation that they won't release 40 times and even if they did he might not be in it.  He is fairly fast but I'm not sure if he'd be fast enough to win a spot at CB some time.  But I wouldn't rule it out at this point.

I thought he played fairly well at Safety in the spring game. I think he’ll be a fringe special teams contributor/backup next year but will definitely work his way onto special teams in the future... and possibly a contributor on D in 3-4 years. He’s obviously very athletic and showed a good nose for the football in the spring game.

  4. Projected starters and game times as follows:

    Friday, May 14 (6:30 PM)
Pitching: LHP Cade Povich (4-1) vs. TBA

    Radio: Husker Sports Network

    Saturday, May 15 (2 PM)
Pitching: RHP Chance Hroch (4-1) vs. TBA
    TV/Streaming: NET/BTN+
    Radio: Husker Sports Network

    Sunday, May 16 (12 PM)
Pitching: RHP Shay Schanaman (4-2) vs. TBA
    TV/Streaming: BTN+
    Radio: Husker Sports Network

Sure there's a lot of work to do.  But, if they are sitting at a 2 seed right now, they would have to fall apart to not make the tournament at all.  Don't see that happening.

Let's go win the conference and not worry about it.

  6. Was at the Spring game and said it was "awesome." Really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Official visits scheduled on June 11 at Iowa State, June 18 at Indiana, Nebraska for June 22, 23 and 24,  and then the weekend of the 25th at K-State.

Looking for comfortability with staff, education, and playing style.

i am curious as to why you think they will make a tourney run next year?  they will lose several key players (graduation/late round MLB draft picks of juniors).  i was thinking this year with the veterans and the influx of new talent (Anderson and Matthews) if they panned out would be their opportunity to make a run.

I think the reason for optimism is the starting pitching should be much improved next year. Lose Hroch but get back Gomes which I think is an upgrade. Povich and Schanaman should both improve. Bullpen should also be improved overall despite losing Schwelly (who will be a big loss out of the bullpen).

Replacing Hallmark and Acker will be tough. I think Banhoff, Chick, Foster are likely starting OF next year. Steil should continue to improve and take Roskam's spot at 1b full time. Likely see Cervantes full time at SS which will be a downgrade offensively but hopefully 2nd year at this level will help him figure some things out.

Wish we woulda stuck with Bunz. He was at like 30 pitches and has been stretched further.

Would have like to see Wynne (or someone else) before bringing in Bunz if your not going to Schwelly right after Bunz.

I figured the Friday ground breaking was a recruiting tactic for anyone who was going to be in town on Friday.  They get to go watch it and see the plans and be excited for the future.

Yes. Also gives a sales pitch to recruits who will be at the spring game. I'm sure there will be some sort of announcement during a timeout/break. Very smart and strategic time to do the ground breaking.

  10. Rutgers is a sneaky tough team and they've beat some of the better teams in the league. With NU being ranked for the first time and Rutgers coming to town it sets up for a potential let down. But Gritty beat Pretty... GBR!
