As targeting ejections have doubled over three years, the NCAA Football Rules Committee is looking at changing the replay standards so a targeting ejection only occurs if the penalty is confirmed. Currently, if replay doesn't have enough evidence to confirm targeting but can't rule it's not targeting, the call on the field stands and the player gets ejected.

NCAA associate director Ty Halpin, the liaison for the rules committee, said ejecting a player is "a pretty expensive deal" if targeting isn't certain. Halpin said the "vast majority" of targeting flags thrown on the field should be confirmed, but there's a fairness issue to consider for players.

"We still want to the official to throw the flag there," Halpin said. "But if replay says there's a little bit of contact on the shoulder and it's more because the player adjusted and it wasn't a dangerous attempt by the player delivering the contact, then maybe that player deserves to stay in the game. It's a reasonable thing to go with."

Completely agree with this proposed change.

Warner definitely has the stats for a player. A bigger body at 6'2" 205 lb. Caught 83 balls for 1062 yards and 14 TDs this year in 10 games. Went 96/1142/15 as a junior. Is the Arizona all time career high school leader in receptions at 241. From what I can tell he plays in Arizona's highest classification. Probably not the fastest or quickest guy, but if he has the work effort/attitude of his father he could end up a player.

how does he have no decent FBS offers? I would think he played against pretty good competition and still put up good numbers.
I've come to the conclusion Arizona HS football is terrible. There was a qb that came out of AZ the last couple of years that set all kinds of records and got zero offers. Or this kid is just super slow. But I would take a flier on super bowl qb bloodlines

I would think if speed at WR is an issue he could make an easy transition to H back or tightend (if blocking is an issue H back wouldn't have the same blocking responsibilities as a TE).

Would love to have him as a walk-on and see where he fits in the future.

  3. OMG yall be thick if you want to but I'm not the only one who is pretty confident we are the favorite RIGHT NOW. All I said

I agree with Nebfanatic and I think people are trying to argue over semantics. I would agree that right now he is a Nebraska lean. A lot of momentum and support to back up what Nebfanatic is saying. However, momentum and feelings can change (see Joe Lewis). Should be an exciting ride following this guys recruitment.

  4. I think we are trending in the right direction. We are in a better spot today than we with what Bo left the program. I think our recruiting has been slightly better - I can't recall Bo bringing in a big time offensive threat like Tyjon who actually made it to campus.

I do agree and wish some of the recent staff changes had been made earlier and think that some of the initial staff hires held us back. Is Nebraska where I wanted them to be after 2 years of Riley? No. But i think we are definitely trending up.

  5. We also have a tendency to red-shirt a fair amount of players which will naturally keep our classes per year smaller. I'd rather keep the 2 schollies and give them to a surprise transfer, JUCO, or deserving walk-on (which can then be used in next years class).

  6. Agreed. When looking at last year and this year's class we are set up well for the future. Last year's class was very strong on the oline, rb, cbs and got a solid qb. This year we hit on dline, lb, wr and another solid qb. Where one class was weak the other class has made up for it.

I really like these last 2 classes.

  8. If Lee starts this year and POB doesn't get a considerable amount of playing time then he will jump ship at the end of next year. He isn't going to stick around to competing against Gebbia for second string. Just isn't going to happen. I Had some buddies who have mutual friends with POB and those friends told my buddies that POB was not happy at all when Lee came in as that was working against promises that were made to him by coaches. Coaches will need to decide this spring if The difference in talent between Lee and POB is so great with Lee that it is worth risking four potential years of POB possibly running the show. If they are almost even they should play POB and give him experience and a possible four years. POB is a long term investment. Lee is not.

I don't think there will be any decision this spring. I think the competition carries on into fall camp. One reason would to prevent a transfer and 2nd is to give both the opportunity to lead and compete over the summer.

Anyone know if he said who he is peer recruiting?

    I do...

I can't read the article, but I would guess Demo, Calvin, Lewis, and the guy on the phone in teh above pic

You got 3/6 with 1 being incorrect. Per the article, I believe 1 of your guesses is correct, just wasn't mentioned.

    Quit holding out on us!

Sorry man. I've gotta keep my head down for a while. Been ridiculed into doing so.

Simply asking for what the article said. Not looking for your opinion on who will be N.

    This.

  10.

How sure are we that Walker has a commitable offer at this point?

Vs what other tackle targets that are beating down the door???

    Yes it's very commitable

I've read in various sources throughout the year we were taking 3 linemen... possibly 4 if it was the right fit/high star commit. I understand him wanting to stay true his word but think the delay is odd. i wouldn't be surprised if it's not commitable

  11. FWIW....

Recruits are going to tweet out offers they get even if they aren't seriously considering them. Especially when it's a major program.

Nothing about these tweets indicates that all of a sudden he is thinking about going to these schools.

But.....I do wish they hadn't offered because that can change.

Exactly. Its like when you break up with your girl - your going to snapchat pics of you with other girls even if you aren't interested in said girls.

  12. well this probably doesn't bode well for our chances with Joseph:

Not liking how things are playing out... feeling less and less confident. I really thought we were the leader until recently. Hopefully the coaches can re-emphasize the opportunity, playing time and immediate impact he can make here after the dead period.
