  1. we ran away from the Big XII to a weak conference because we were chicken and were dominated by both participants in said Red River Shootout. Makes more sense to me now.

:funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah:funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah :funnyhahah

We left a favoring division, who would do anything to make sure their "elite" would make it to a BCS bowl game. I am not even going to get into it, but by far, B1G has stiffer opponents in bowl games, as most face SEC teams. Last year the B1G was much more of a tougher conference than the B12. This year, I would say the same. You might have the argument about WV, but they have no defense, haven't played anyone with a strong defense and a potent offense, so they have yet to even be tested yet. Geno Smith is good, and will most likely win Heisman, but with no defense, it will be hard to go undefeated.

If you didn't understand the context of what I was saying to someone saying OU was sooooo scared of us they fled our so called rivalry for the 110 year old Red River Shootout then so be it. To the entire Big XII ( and most of the nation) we appear as about as chickenchit fleeing to a weak conference, regardless I was using this as an example. Kettle meet Pot if you will, OU had legitimate reasons, some say we do too. Now that Texas A&M, Mizzou and the Buffs are all gone maybe the Big XII and Big Ten are on sort of equal ground but not when we " Left / Ran"

Red River shootout = Six of the ten showings in the 200-2010 era featured one of the participants in the Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game (2000, 2003–05, and 2008–09)

The game typically has conference or even national significance. Since 1945, one or both of the two teams has been ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation coming into 61 out of 66 games.

Who is OU going to Pick? Texas said the same thing about Texas A&M when the whole SEC thing came about

Seriously? you are seriously and idiot. OU didn't have to pick between Texas and Neb. They could have had a protected cross over game like the SEC did and like the Big Ten does now. You are also dead wrong about the OU-NEB rivalry. Many of my good friends are OU fans and I still catch crap about leaving and 'killing' the rivalry when every NEB fan knew the rivalry was already dead by not playing every year. However, as many posters have already mentioned, it isn't worth arguing with someone who blatantly disregards information and the facts out there.

  2.

Thanks for the link...caught where he said Zaire almost committed to NU.

By the way there is a thing going around on FB for anyone going to the UCLA game to show up at Johnnys game on the 7th and wear red and show your support for Johnny. I guess its a close drive.

That would be pretty epic if a sea of red showed up for his high school game... would probably turn some heads in the recruiting world in so cal 2.

  3. Winning, at every level, in the end, is all that matters. If T-mart was "the worst QB ever" to win a NC would you be happy? Yes, that is the answer.

Don't get stupid and think that winning is not important

Really quick, Peyton Manning Or T-Martin in college. Exactly.

    Hmm... Peyton Manning?

  4. I think the CCG should have more of a feel like a winner take all regular season game, like Bedlam did this year and the NU / OU games of old usually were. When I think classic end-of-season B10 games, I'm not thinking indoor NFL venue.

    Exactly what I was thinking

  5. Watching the Wisc-Mich St didn't feel to me that having the BIG Championship game played indoors was the right decision. Just didn't feel like a BIG championship game and the environment didn't feel right. I know this was discussed earlier in the year but it really struck me watching this game. Would have loved to see it played outdoors. Anyone else feel this way after watching the game?

  6. I think the best case scenerio with the coaching staff is that Barney moves into an adminstrative role within the athletic department, hire turner gill to coach qbs and possibly tagged passing game coordinator or something along those lines, beck remains the oc and helps garrison out on the line. On the defensive side jp moves into dc or a co-dc... or a longshot bring in mike stoops as dc (unlikely as I believe he is already headed to be co-dc at ohio state).

  7. how about the possibility bo tried to handle this with class by not fireing watson and ruining his reputation while watson was in the running for head coaching jobs... i would bet that there was some understanding watson would be/will be let go but the announcement was put off so save face for watson in his pursuit of another job

  8. come on... this guy does not have a single nfl trait besides interview abilities and looking pretty... can't make correct checks at the line, weak arm, can't make quick decisions, not good from under center/good footwork or height, doesn't throw the deep out or long ball well. only way he makes it in the nfl would be as a position coach many years down the road

  9. So out of the 16 flags which where not earned

Cotton kick -- going to get called every time -- the second flag was after he said something to the ref

Martins 2 -- No replay so no one one can say what was done or said

Bo -- really after dropping the f bomb to the ref

PI which one the one where the back is on the ground -- or the one where the back has his arm hooked around the chest

The only call that is questionalbe and IMO a bad call the late hit on the qb -- and after 5 PFs did you not think that would be called. Anything even close was going to be called

then you have all the false starts and such -- only 2 holding calls and if the refs where out to screw NU that is the easies call to do it on

If they where trying to make sure you lost why let a 35 yard run stand out of the end zone.

You are conveniently IGNORING the other half of the argument. Quite frankly the most important part. Two...two penalties on Texas A&M all game. 2nd most penalized team in the league and Two penalies...please address this. Why do you think it was only 2?

Do you think every there no missed calls on NU -- look at the batted ball (only one in the game) Hands to the face -- It just blows my mind that you think they are out to take the CCG from you -- if so why let the OSU game go the way it did or MIZZ -- they where the two best teams that you played and would have been the one to pull that. If they where out to make sure you loose you think you get a 35 yard run out of the shadow of your endzone. The Off is not at good as some BR fans want to think. 17 against SDSU. NU is greatly improved but they are not a top 10 team.

Consider your mind blown then, wake up and smell the coffee. one reason for letting the osu game and mizzou game go is because they followed a texas game in which nebraska lost where questionable calls directly affected the outcome. neb was in no means in the driver seat until after the mizzou game and now that the season has progressed beebe boys have stepped up their efforts to keep us from going to the ccg. iowa state and kansas just didn't have enough fire power to beat us but a&m did...

i would love to hear your insight as to how after the mizzou game our opponents have 6 penalties combined... please enlighten us other then pointing out the offense is bad... even though neb has been playing with a third string qb for the majority of these games.

  10. I think he has the potential to be a high draft pick because of his size, arm strength, and mobility... however his mechanics are terrible. His progression and pre snap reads need work. Also he has terrible footwork after his initial read and gets what many call happy feet. There were double digits where he began to scramble at times he should have stood in the pocket and delivered the ball (although there was great coverage) he bailed out way to early and way to often. He has alot of work to do in taking his drops if he wants to succeed at this and the next level.

His throwing mechanics are fine, I think. Not sure if you meant that specifically or overall mechanics. His footwork on his drops could use a little cleanup, but I think that's a result of putting him in a shotgun/spread offense when he really ought to be in a more pro-style offense.

His biggest problem (as you pointed out) is happy feet. He made the O-line look a LOT worse than they really were. NU certainly got pressure at times, but even when they didn't, he ran into it unnecessarily. This has been a problem for 2 years, now.

yeah i wasn't referring to his throwing mechanics... should have been more clear... his footwork mechanics and pocket presence are what i see as his glaring weaknesses

  12. Compton got some pt late last week... any word if he's returning to the starting line up this week and david moves over to the other linebacker spot??? or do we keep david and gomes at lb going against pass happy ok state?

  13. This has been brought up in many other threads, with most of the blame being placed on Taylor. I think it goes to one of my biggest beefs with Pelini and not haveing set captains in favor of a rotation. I really disagree with him on this and think we need set captains who have the authority to set up and get in peoples faces when there is a let down. I feel to often there is a lack of accountability and ownership that is becoming apparent in our program with the jeckle and hyde team we currently have.

  14. syracuse legitimate? Idaho would take them to the woodshed.

Then why did we have to pay Idaho and Wash not pay Cuse? Stumper?? If you are right Saturday it won't even be close to a contest and we will put their lights out In the first quarter. Why not wait and let the team prove it?

not much of a stumper at all to a common college football fan. you dont pay out for home and homes. washington ventured to syracuse in 2007. idaho was a one way ticket.

If you don't understand the difference in a paid beat down and a home and home series; I can't help you.

you must be confused billy ball... mmmtodd laid it out perfectly for you

also, idaho won its bowl game last year.

  15. didnt read any responses but zac lee had his shot and proved nothing during conference play last year... our offense was the laughing stock of not only the big xii but the entire nation. if you think he got screwed go back and watch any conference game from last year. he is clearly not our best option to have a good season or he would be on the field.

  16. anyone that lives outside of nebraska, such as my self, continually heard last season about how bad zac lee is non stop... one of my favorite quotes is something along the lines of if we could get bad qb play instead of horrendous we would have been a bcs bowl team last year.

my point is zac lee had his shot... blame it on the injury but that is just taking the easy road.. an injured elbow still doesn't make up for bad reads and running with his head down (a point i never noticed but many of my sooner buddies made).

i'm all for playing our best players but we might as well figure out what we have in the stable before we try and rely on a horse that just doesn't have it.

  17. HuskerExtraBC:

Bo: Clarifies "Nebraska's back" comment after bowl game. Says he just means the culture he hoped to instill is in place now.

i don't know what do think about that? i think he meant more than just that? was the "nebraska's back" one of the few times bo was not using coach speak and demonstrating honest emotion?

i think he meant that we can compete with any team.

I kinda wish that he would of not said that "nebraskas back" I would feel more comfortable with him saying that after we win the big12 championshp

it was an emotional statement that he truely meant.. he is trying to save face in the media and not sound to cocky.. but we all know we r back and here to stay :koolaid2:
