You are commenting on a portion of the post.  Nothing abnormal.

You’re the one making accusations about an entire town based on a very small portion of the popularion….. not I.   I am simply defending Omaha as I have from several posts.  If you read them, you’d know my stance on the situation.

im sorry your customers are high maintenance, the city of Omaha must be tough.

Again read my post. I said all people.  And I have several customers in Omaha and 90% are high maintenance.  You are reading between the lines with very little knowledge

What a coincidence!!! I have several customers in Lincoln that are high maintenance.  So should I lay claim to the entire town of Lincoln thinking they are better than everyone else?!?!?  (I don’t)

Damn, there's some dense people in this thread. 48% of the geographic area of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area is in Iowa, and 13% of the population is in Iowa.

Now class, who can tell me which one of those figures is actually relevant in this discussion? I'll give you a hint: do you think Mickey Joseph is recruiting people to play football, or do you think he's trying recruit a plot of land to pull itself up out of the earth and come play football for the University of Nebraska?

I’ll take plots of land for 1000!!!!

Exactly.  It's not that one area of the state is "better than the other", it's just that each area/city has their own stuff that is unique to their area and they have different things to worry/think about.  It's different perspectives and points of view, and unfortunately it can be hard for people to understand other people's perspectives and points of view.

Biggest difference…. Can someone please tell my mother that when she comes up to Bellevue… it’s not like auburn Nebraska… it takes 40 mins to get there from west Omaha.  It’s not just across town. Gosh!!! Lol

But you are going off of your nephew's point of view.  This is an endless debate, but it's unfair to say that "Omaha kids don't have a state pride" like it's a negative thing.

I agree completely.  You also can’t go off just my point of view as a citizen of Omaha.  I can tell you for a fact what Omaha doesn’t think they are better than anyone else in the state… they just have their own crap to worry about.

Good points on school size.  My son goes to a metro-Denver area high school with 2,000 students.  I showed him around UNL this past fall when we went to a Husker game.  To be honest, it was weird how UNL felt small to me.  I know UNL has over 20,000 students, but UNL's city campus is in a tight, geographic area.  Then when we were at my in-laws in Hastings over Christmas, we drove by Hastings College, and my son commented "That's the entire college?".  My thoughts include school size and city size, and thoughts about expanding your geographical thoughts when thinking about a college.

Truth. I went to a school that had 98 in my graduating class.  I went to a smaller college and I bought 300 kids in my class was a lot. My wife teaches at a middle school in Omaha with 500+ per grade. I couldn’t imagine

That’s great! Hope he turns out to be the best coach we ever had. I would’ve rather had a proven guy to fix the disaster that is our line. We’ve had these “He’s one of ours” coaches not work out many times.

Cotton, cav and Austin were all proven and for the better part of a decade I feel the oline has under performed.  I am excited about the fire he will bring. Hoping that’s enough.  Who knows. Fingers crossed

Also, I think there is a difference when Omaha kids think about their next step in life after graduating high school.  When kids graduate high school, a lot of kids are looking "for something bigger" regardless of where you grow up.  For Omaha kids, that "something bigger" is a school in a state super far away from Omaha.  For Omaha kids, going to UNL is a "lateral move", and going to a small school like UNK, Hastings College, Doane, etc. would be a "step down".  For kids outside of Omaha or Lincoln, going to UNL is the "something bigger", and going to a smaller state school would be the "lateral move".

Also, just because Omahans may have stereotypes of people who live outside Omaha and smaller Nebraska cities/towns, doesn't mean that non-Omahans don't have negative stereotypes to Omahans and the city of Omaha.

I also agree with the stereotyping. I live in Omaha and work all over Nebraska.  Omaha residents are seen at rude, fast, and unforgiving. I also came from a small town and I know many inner city metro residents view us small town folks as slow and uneducated.  In all reality we’re all similar. My best friend hadn’t been outside of Omaha and Lincoln (he’d go there for the games) his entire life.  For my wedding reception he went to my hometown. Was shocked!  I was shocked he’d never been outside of Omaha!!!

Agreed!  There are 722 kids at grand island northwest high school.  9-12 grades.  There are 1,7xx enrolled in just Omaha North.
Omaha kids are used to being lost in the shuffle (how sad is that) but that’s also why they aren’t afraid to look at bigger schools

He’s the biggest question mark of all the changes. He was hired because of his name with limited experience and no proof of having done anything special besides being named Raiola.

He has the most to prove and no local sports propaganda will change that.

Grad assistant coach for ND, small school job and also an assistant ol coach foe the bears.  I mean this is a great background for an assistant coach!  Add that to the fire he shows?!?  That and his career?!?   Being a good player does convert to being a good coach at times too!  Look at Byron Leftwhitch

  11. Heinrich haarberg had offers from us and Boston college.  Had he played at Bellevue west, he’d have 17+ offers.  Exposure in big cities is different.  It’s not fair to question the loyalty of the Omaha schools to that of say Kearney.  You can’t fault a kid for wanting to find the right fit for him.   If he had had offers from other schools, might he have considered them?

I agree with this. Omaha as a whole feels like they are above the rest of the state including the University.

I mean I live in Omaha and there is plenty of husker love here.   Creighton takes some of the basketball love but there is still plenty.

difference is York, GI, NP, Kearney, and Norfolk aren’t recruited hard by other programs… Omaha is.  I would say that the Omaha and lack of state pride narrative is false.  They just seem to have more opportunities from other schools in comparison to other cities in the state. (Lincoln excluded)

As with most things in life, I think we should draw the line at Council Bluffs.

I agree that if Frost fails, that most of his staff should be gone with him.  It doesn't make any sense to keep all/most of the staff just because the head man failed the most.

I generally think that new coaches should be able to bring in their entire own staff, but keeping strong recruiters (like Joseph and Busch) who are getting their feet into the local area would be worth retaining.

I don’t disagree at all. That being said, it all depends on the coach they bring in.  Maybe it is Joseph?!?  It’s all a headache I’m glad I don’t have to make and that 84huskerlaw isn’t making lol

Chins would be a good HC.  Keep entire staff except Frost could be an option. Maybe.

Why?!?!?  Why would you keep the staff of the guy you fired together.  Why wouldn’t you just keep the guy?!?!

dumb … just dumb.  Off season in full effect I guess.

frost isn’t getting fired unless he wins less than 5 games.  Calling my shot now.

Yes, we have 5 offensive line positions to man and 1 running back....that's why we've recruited 57 RB's and 2 OL. Plus we hired a questionable Wisconsin affiliated OL coach with limited experience based on his brother's name and the local media is assuring us he's gonna be great.
So, okay then....yes, let's bring in a bunch of disgruntled Alabama linemen just in case.

You really think riola was hired because of his brother?!?!  I hope that’s just sarcasm.

Some things have improved yes, we are more competitive, but still had the worst record of Frost's 4 years.  Close doesn't count in year 5, I hope we can all agree on that finally, it's simply about wins and losses now.  Time to get it done on the field and win more than we lose.

We also had one of the hardest schedules we’ve seen in years. I know Bo won all those 9 win years…. I also know how they folded under hard competition. This team fought tooth and nail all the way.  All those top 10 teams in a row… it was impressively sad

He is walking on at Nebraska is what I meant, I was wrong about that.  Hope he and Anthony work out, along with a first year coach in the Big Ten but that is a tall order.

We do suck at the moment dude.  It's not a "narrative" to be suggesting a coach that is 15-29 in 4 years and most recently 3-9 could have reasonably been fired.

I hear you on the new start, worth a try. Williams inside could be an option, we were soft at RG all year but Nouili did ok at LG. Have to be done shuffling with losing Jurgens.  I will say WR is an easier place to go up a level than O Line but we shall see.

I understand that everyone’s sick of the “we’re close” excuse but you can’t deny the fact that we are.  We are competing on a high level… we are losing those games… but we are close

No we don’t, the OT’s didn’t grade out well, but on the interior they were a bit better. Everyone needs stop acting like there is zero talent in the OL room, recruiting rankings alone tell a vastly different story.

It’s easier for them to say we suck. It fits the fire frost narrative more.

We need 5. Our lineman whiff more than Screech from Saved by the Bell. If Martinez wasn't so good at running for his life things would have been way worse. Even then did you see all the injuries done to Martinez unacceptable work upfront we need 5 new lineman

Teddy was doing damn good and it’s not like they were abysmal. There is talent there. Trust in the new coach
