  1. It's not that outrageous? The writer compared Boise State to Abe Lincoln, Bobby Kennedy, and MLK. He then suggested Utah and BYU left the Mountain West in order to stick it to Boise State. He THEN suggested that TCU's possible move to the Big East or Big 12 would also be driven by a motivation to keep Boise State out of the BCS. And all the while, he's suggesting that Alabama, Ohio State, and Nebraska are orchestrating each one of these moves because they're afraid of Boise State. Once again, I'm going to have to go with a

I see your . Allow me to contribute.

  2. The money was never the issue. You're fooling yourself if you think Nebraska cares about the difference between 800K and 1M. They make over $5M per home game. Heck, ESPN supposedly even offered to pay the difference in return for being able to carry the game in the time slot of their choosing. The real issue was Nebraska not wanting to add a game of this caliber with decent OOC games against Washington and Fresno already set, especially with the Nebraska QB situation being a big mystery (at the time of the initial talks, Lee was the expected starter for '10, leaving the '11 picture a crapshoot) and Boise returning one of the nation's top players for his senior season (Moore).

Not wanting to look bad, Nebraska made a PR stunt by offering Boise a 2 and 1 series (with no money exchanged) they knew Boise would turn down (the deal would be worth about $10M for Nebraska vs. $2M for Boise). Then someone in the media (Shatel) falls for the ploy and hundreds of thousands of OWH readers follow suit.

This is such a load of crap it's hard to believe anyone buys it.

So you think the $200K was just too much for Nebraska to bear? Psh. Now that's hard to buy. Everything in my post is pretty well documented if you're willing to look at sources outside the OWH. If not, you're free to keep naively believing that Boise is somehow terrified to play us, or greedy for wanting one-fifth of Nebraska's revenue for a game.

you're telling us ESPN said they were going to pay the $200k difference and boise didnt accept the offer instantly? not that's hard to buy. :ahhhhhhhh

  3. dang.....what is in the blue koolaid?

This is the perfect storm and a fascinating year because we are now viewed as the team that symbolizes revolutionary change.

Any protected establishment fears revolutionaries. Fear them enough to kill. HIstory is certainly witness to this.

The fact that we are receiving exponentially more hatred & rhetorical rage than when we were the lovable underdog -- should not come as a big surprise.

Alabama, Ohio State and Nebraska are not only 3 of the best CFB teams -- they also have 3 of the largest fan bases -- and they all want the Crystal trophy.

The NC game is their Super Bowl and they do not want little Boise State anywhere near it. And yes, right now they hate us because we are agents of change. It is not personal -- it is the threat that we now represent. A threat to their sacred Crystal Football.

This threat is more real with the Va Tech and Oregon State victories paired with ESPN Game Day, The SI cover this week, etc. They were banking on a Boise State loss to Va Tech in DC. I don't think they really believed it would go this far. But here we are. Now Boise State is an imminent threat to shatter a comfortable world that has been around much longer than the BCS.

To the SEC we are Abraham Lincoln, Bobby Kennedy and MLK all rolled into one...so get used to the hatred. It is not going away if we keep winning impressively. We are the threat. All other threats have been or are being dealth with.

The establishment is buying off Utah and TCU. BYU is going it alone, trying to follow Notre Dame. Yet, because we are still a little too small -- so the BCS star chamber can't really buy us out right now -- so they must find a way to take us down a couple notches.

None of this is happening by mistake. These moves are being carefully ochestrated. For example, it is no mistake that TCU was approached by the Big East as opposed to the Big12. Why? Because the BCS kills 2 birds with one stone: 1. Get TCU out of the picture 2. Shore up a dreadful Big East.

The media is kind of our only friend right now. Yet, they too will turn on a dime if we stumble in the least. Good theatre for sure.

  4. Don't let the local media fool you... Nebraska had a chance to play Boise in Lincoln next year scot-free and didn't want anything to do with a Senior Kellen Moore. Osborne thought the schedule was tough enough as is, and that's fine.

really? i thought boise wanted $1mil and we only would pay $800k so they declined.

  5. If Bama and OSU stay undefeated that will be our NC. If a PAC-10 team or Big XII team goes undefeated they will jump Boise.

if nebraska ends up being the undefeated big 12 champ....i don't know that our SOS is that much stronger than BSU's....would we get in ahead of BSU? i don't think so.

"So far, No. 3 Boise State has beaten two ranked foes (Virginia Tech and Oregon State). If No. 25 Nevada continues its torrid play over the next two months, the Broncos could well face a third ranked team on Nov. 26. Meanwhile, the sixth-ranked Huskers could feasibly end up playing ... none.

is it just me....or does he have a very pro bronco slant to his story. :)

  7. as irrelevent as this game is to us and everyone around the country....it is the biggest game for south dakota state in about forever. dont think they are not excited to be here. we will get their best effort.

  8. Mark May knows college football like I know quantom physics or eastern European tapestry. The guy is the biggest douche out there. He likes who ever is the flavor of the month, USC, Tim Tebone, Texas, Bama, you name them he likes them. Plus the guy is still butt hurt that his mighty Panthers put up a whopping 23 points in two games against some of our worst teams in recent history and lost and had to eat large helpings of crow in front of Trev.

So because of Mark May :espnsucks:

if he really knows anything about sports he probably is pizzed at Nebraska for the AD we sent to pittsburgh.

  9. I ask the same question on why so many Husker fans have such venom towards the Horns.

I can empathize that loss, after loss, after loss, to the same team can build some frustration (See UT's record vs. OU in early 2000's) but some of what I read from Husker fans is a bit extreme.

I concur. It is a bit extreme. It's quite likely that we could very well be heading off to the Big 10 with a 10% winning percentage against Texas while we were in the Big 12. Texas seems butthurt that we're leaving the Big 12, but if Nebraska loses to Texas this year you won't even know butthurt until seeing this board after the game.

I have never really cared much for Texas myself, but it has nothing to do with losses we've sustained to Texas. My disliking of Texas stems from the fact that Texas and Mack Brown should have at least one if not more NC's under their belt. Mack Brown caved into pressure and started an inferior QB over a proven winner. Mack Brown gave up a lot of hardware to get Phil Simm's one million donation.

I disagree. While the losses certainly are frustrating, ever since 2002, there is no reason for NU to even be close in those games. tu has LOADS of talent while NU does not. tu should be embarrassed that it normally takes a bounce of a ball here, a lucky break there, a missed call here, and extra second there to beat an inept, un-talented, irrelevant team.

What about the first 5 or 6 years in the Big 12? People can say all they want, but TO got outcoached plain and simple in the 1996 Big 12 Championship game. We've had 4 coaches who've went up against Texas since we've been in the Big 12. Solich is the only one who's managed a victory. When the Big 12 was formed, Texas really wasn't relevant. They fired a coach just like we did. Texas in the 90's had very similar records to Nebraska in the 2000's with some nice 5-6, 6-5, and 7-4 seasons.

Again, that loss in 96 was frustrating, even players from that time say that game was the hardest loss because we were better and there were other reasons why we lost that game. But that is not the reason for MY hatred towards Texass. It's their arrogance, self importance, and thought of entitlement.

It's not that we're arrogant, it's just that we know we are luckier than you :woo HOOM'EM :woo:):)
