Surrounding countries should indeed be paying more. Just like they should’ve been fully funding NATO before this and became weak, degraded militaries (not all of them I know).  Instead they let the USA do their funding into NATO. Ukraine has a 0.00% chance of reclaiming their former territory. They’ve lost too many men, supplies, & equipment will not and cannot come in enough quantity to match their goals. Their counter offensive failed. The only hope they have of winning is to outlast the Russians with a much higher kill ratio and bleed them. They are still going to lose more land. This will come to the negotiating table and Russia will take (well continue to take) Crimea, Donetsk, & other potential regions.

i am glad the French didn't take your attitude in 1776

  2. we can send thousands of blackhawks to ukraine at no "real" cost to us.   they are sitting in the desert doing nothing...as are many tanks, bradleys, strykers, etc, etc...   we have already paid for them now they are outdated and sitting in the desert doing nothing.    the real cost to us would be keeping them stocked with ammo...but i guess we keep those old vehicles out there because of the sunk cost in them

The GUR (one of the acronyms of the agency) says that both pilots and troops agree that the Black Hawk is significantly ahead of the Mi-8 Hip and Mi-24 Hind in almost all characteristics, and that they are impressed by its reliability, ease of use and combat survival capability. They mention that the helicopter is way more maneuverable and also faster than the Mi-8, with the capability to fly long missions over three hours or 600 km.

i have been on job sights since i was 14 and i am 61 now.    that is definitely saw dust.   i would even go so far as to say it is most likely pine sawdust rather than cedar or oak.

Basically my story.  I was 25 in 1980 and voted for Reagan then and in 1984 and would still vote for him versus any of the current GOPers.

I haven't voted for the GOP nominated presidential candidate since Romney.  I'm becoming more moderate the older I get - people matter thus policy matters.  The GOP only views policy as the thing that matters.

i might vote GOP again if we ever get them on the ballot....but this MAGA takeover of the party isn't for me.

Voters who reached 18 and voted Democrat are now 45-55 and vote Republican.  Hence they changed their mind.   Cross tab polling data has shown for decades that Democrats win the young vote and Republicans tend to win the older vote.   People aren’t just born older.   Over time they change their mind of how to vote.

i voted for Reagan when i was 18 and i voted for Biden when i was 58.

what putin wants and what he can actually take are two very different things.

as he keeps taking country after country and gaining their manpower and production capabilities for his army he is gaining in his ability to take whatever he wants.

Could you imagine russia (boating, probably not marching, right?) to alaska, my god.   That would be suicide for them.

putin has declared the sale of alaska to the united states as illegal.  :dunno   it's the same as claiming the ukraine is ethnically russian.
