  1. If they really think he D-Line has been average they clearly are missing the point of our defense.

I agree. This defensive line, as well as the rest of the defense, appears to be progressing like last year. They really didn't start playing lights out until mid year. The front 4 against KSUX was starting to get a good push. This is what we need to look for, not big plays. When they can get solid pressure with the 4 down lineman, it's going to get ugly for everyone.

  2. I think Heard will absolutely KILL IT next year in this system. As much as I love Helu and Burkhead neither one of them is just a flat breakaway threat. I know, I know Helu has had a couple 60+ yarders this season but theres a difference b/t Helu's break away runs and someone like LaMichael James runs. That's how he will affect the offense IMO. The addition of Heard and Green with Burkhead and T-Mart is a beautiful thing to think of.

This sucks because a methed out circus chimp with gonorrhea and no #2 pencils could meet the minimum ACT score.

  3. does this mean david sits?

i appreciate that. i really do. after all of the helpful, informative responses, i was starting to get annoyed, tired of waiting for a worthless and sarcastic response. thank you for providing that for me.

I'll be honest. I have no idea where the love affair with Compton has come from. I can only guess it was because he was supposed to be the field general this year. I don't recall at what point he became this seasoned veteran.

A few posts up noted that Dillard was an animal last year and that poster couldn't have been more dead on. Once Dillard established himself against VT last year, Compton rarely saw the field. I felt like the biggest question mark on the defense going into this year was who going to replace Dillard and not who was going to replace Suh.

We are now at the point were David has more experience than Compton. Not to mention that David appears to be one of the most explosive line backers on defense in a while. He is clearly one of the best linebackers in the conference.

I wish Compton the best of luck and I am happy that he will add depth, but if David comes off the field for anything except an injury, I will have to pull my fist out of my TV.

Because you know so much more than the Pelini brothers about defense AND their defensive personnel?

  5. Whether Compton comes back or not Lavonte David won't come off the field. He can cover way more ground than anyone the team has. The guy is all over the place. He absolutely blankets the TE's in pass coverage which I haven't seen in a long time.

  6. Brion Carnes reminds me somewhat of Tyrod Taylor.

I don't think that is anything to strive for.

Wow....Couldn't pass this one up. Cleary one of the best QB's in the country. You'll see as the year progresses.

  7. This whole Zac Lee thing is eerily reminiscent of Joe Dailey situation. Coach comes in…. cupboard is bare….coach goes and gets what he wants and old QB has to go. This isn’t an entitlement program…it’s about winning football games.

Ganz did have a year when Bo got here, but that’s hardly anything to plan a program around. Obviously Caly got his franchise guy. We’re all still talking about how good Keller was :).

As many have already noted, this is hardly a done deal anyway. I have no doubt the best will play.

  8. Crouch is probably one of the best athletes that has come through the program in recent years, but his QB game wouldn't work in this offense. I think the comparisons are for not. I don't think Crouch would start at QB in this offense. His arm is like a cannon, but the accuracy just wasn't there. I'm not knocking the guy. He's a legend and always will be. Option left, option right, option right, option left, play action to Wilson Thomas (On third and long) worked at the time, but eventually cost Frank his job.

I always take heat for this, but I'll say it anyway. I think Jamal Lord's athleticism always gets overlooked because the offense he was on was so vanilla and predictable. I think T-Mart has more talent than Lord, but it is a more realistic comparison.

Imho, "this offense" would be changed by Bo in about four nanoseconds if by miracle an Eric Crouch somehow appeared (and was eligible). No way he wouldn't use him "immediately". Just like he's doing right now in changing the offense for freshman Tmart. I'm sure it would be different from Frank's offense but he would be on the field at qb.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I don't think he would take a snap in any offense other than the one he was in. I think the guy would have made millions in a role like Wes Welker. I think he's bigger, faster and stronger than him.

The funny thing about the offense from the 90's and early 2000 is that I think T.O. would have even evloved away from a purely option based approach. That being said, I believe Crouch is a 'purely option' quarter back that probably would have put up Danny Woodhead type numbers at Air Force.

To me the arguement that Bo make him a QB because he is strong and fast just doesn't add up. I would think that #22 would be under center right now if that was the case.
