I really didn’t mean for this to be a thread about how numb it is to have a monarchy. I really don’t care about them. But, this is becoming a very interesting story.

  2. I believe having a living breathing “monarchy” that ties back to old people probably helps increase the tourism revenue somewhat. Because as others have said, some people are obsessed.

It’s kind of hard to judge the amount though. It’s not like people would stop visiting Buckingham Palace or Westminster Cathedral if there were no longer royals.

In fact at the beginning of their absence, Buckingham would open up all of the other wings so you could see what their living quarters were like, and would be open 12 mos a year instead of just in the summer. The private estates would all turn into museums as well if not owned by the family. Most of the “public” places only have sections available to see. So there would probably be a boom in visitors and revenue for at least the first 5 years, if the royals went away.

    In case anyone was wondering:

Places like Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are owned by the monarch of the moment because of their position as king or queen, while other properties, like Balmoral and Sandringham House, are personally owned and not publicly funded

So I assume a change in the law could instantly take Buckingham and Windsor from Charles. Balmoral is in the middle of nowhere so who cares. Dunno where Sand is.

Okay I got all the way through Lost. I have no idea why I thought I had seen the whole series before. I think all I watched years ago was s1 and maybe part of s2. It makes perfect sense once you watch the whole thing. I was not Lost when it was over. I mean it was confusing at times with all the flash forwards, backwards and sideways and some of the weird stuff that occurs on the island but they explained everything pretty well by the end.

I feel like 75% of the people who hated it think that nothing on the island ever happened, even though it flat out says in the last episode that it all happened. I think the other 25% just don't like the Christiany ending.

  4. They are both in the wrong. Maybe Israel can decide 30,000 killed is enough to make up for the 1,000 killed and raped. But I think they just want to take over the entire region and govern it, but only as occupiers, because they don't want those people to vote.

Why do you post Tweets without looking any of it up and/or sharing what you found?

It took me about 2 minutes to find the first thing is just made up bulls#!t. You can see in the graph the household # is higher. (And it’s supposed to be higher because it includes farm related jobs, while the other doesn’t).

These people are proposing that women who have abortions and doctors who perform those abortions be given the death penalty in the name of saving lives.  Even those who report to the E.R. in the midst of a miscarriage could be prosecuted for murder because, according to these people, most who do so are lying about it.

The process of IVF will also be grounds for prosecution for murder because that egg that can frozen at -300f for 30 year is a human will full rights.

They also propose that there be no exceptions for rape or incest but you know if their 14 year old daughter was raped and impregnated they're headed to the nearest state that allows for abortions.  Remember when we were all told sliding down this slippery slope was hyperbole?

So humans can survive in -300 degress F for 30 years now? I guess I bought the wrong type of long johns.

The issue for me is not the “issue” itself. WWJD or what should actual Christians do isn’t the issue.

My focus is defeating orange man bad and, imo, this edict doesn’t help that cause. There are hard left and hard right groups that won’t be swayed. But there has to be a rather large group in the middle that can still be influenced. I believe many in that group are not opposed to equal and fair treatment of the LGBTQ community BUT are at the same time tired of having the issue shoved in their face. I’d rather those people vote for Biden than Trump. Let the Rs spew their messages of hate to determine which side people align with. IMO it’s not an issue that requires an opposite message to win the issue. Dems can simply say we support inclusion and let the Rs shoot themselves in the foot.

    Anyhow, that’s my two cents.

I just find it hard to believe the idiots who would be mad about something like this are swayable. Chances are the message was automated, since this is the 4th year they've done it. It's potentially an oversight to let it go again this time given it's on a religious holiday this year, but if they had not made the proclamation after doing it the previous 3 years in a row, there is another group of idiots who would have been upset and asked why it wasn't mentioned (e.g.: is Biden ashamed now that it's an election year!?), and this group of idiots are more likely to be potential Biden voters.

Another simple search indicates that this white house proclamation was made on March 29, 2024 and specifically designates March 31, 2024 (Easter Day). Not real sure what 2010 has to do with an issue the Biden WH went out of their way to issue a proclamation for yesterday.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2024/03/29/a-proclamation-on-transgender-day-of-visibility-2024/#:~:text=You are America%2C and my,as Transgender Day of Visibility.

And to be clear, I’m not frothed up over it. I voted for Biden last time and will (shudders) vote for him this time. If they could just get out of their own damn way Trump wouldn’t stand a chance.

And why does this issue need to be confined to one specific day? Shouldn’t treating all people with respect be an everyday deal? I just think it would’ve been more wise to realize what specific day this March 31 is and adjust accordingly.

They started doing the proclamations in 2021. This year it just happens to be on Easter.

Kinda funny it was in 2024 though. The next time Easter is on the 31st is 2086.

  9. I think they should have vetoed it again due to China/Russia blocking the ceasefire's reliance on releasing the hostages.

Also, the Hamas requests are unreasonable.

"“Israel has not agreed to any of (Hamas) requests related to a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of all forces from the Gaza Strip, even in stages, and the return of all displaced people to their homes,” Naeim said."

I've posted about it before but just looked it up again. My farming cousins complain about welfare and freeloaders on FB sometimes. The data on subsidies is available online. One of them has received $360K since 1995 and $60K since 2019. The other has received $270K and $25K.

Was the ship too tall or did it hit a pylon?

Edit: just watched the video. Edit2: Ok I decided to Google instead of ask Huskerboard.

Officials have confirmed that the ship lost power right before the collision. Moore said that the crew notified authorities of a "power issue." Two U.S. officials told CBS News that multiple alarms rang out on the ship, alerting pilots and crew to an issue on board.

I think Dec/Jan is going to be ugly no matter who wins…

There are going to be sizable groups of people on either side that will take the results as an attack on the fabric of the United States.

Im not worried of Trump taking over.  But it disgusts me to even consider the country I love electing such a trash human to such a distinguished position.  It grossed me out in 2016, and even more so now!

I don't think it will be ugly. People like to talk big. But the only reason J6 got as big as it was is because their leader organized it and it was a single location for people to come to.

i believe he doesn't want to be part of what the MAGA/Republicans have planned if trump loses the election.   i don't think they care if trump wins or loses the election...they have plans to overthrow a biden win and any republican that doesn't go with it will be labeled a traitor by MAGA and made a target.   .

I think this is a fantasy. Trump trying to stay in power in 2029 after getting elected in 2024 is something I see as feasible, and even accomplishing it is feasible. I think it's extremely unlikely anything happens (in the next 5 years) if Biden wins, and it's also unlikely that anything is attempted by more than a handful of the House and a ragtag bunch of people on the streets, smaller than the J6 crowd.

I think it's far more likely, if he's leaving due to his conscience, that he doesn't want to be a part of any of it because he doesn't like Trump, and he's too much of a coward to say anything against him for fear of reprisal if Trump wins in 2024.

I would guess the biggest problem of doing this accurately (and obviously the are a lot of problems), is the words documented from the earliest presidents would almost all be prepared speeches, and sound smarter than off the cuff remarks we have from modern presidents. But maybe they base part of it off decisions too. Who knows.
