  1. I also find it highly unlikely he'll return kicks. He never wowed me enough to remember he was great at it. Plus, he fumbled punts. Maybe it was only once, but it was enough that I remember it.

Missouri game in the rain comes to mind...

I was thinking of the Iowa State one. There are probably others. I would be scared to have him on the field doing anything.

  2. The article would have been perfectly fine without the comment about QBs. He was being interviewed specifically about Paul, so of course he's going to say nice things. But that comment ruined it and makes me annoyed at both of them. I can't think of any player in the history of any sport I've ever watched that has made me more nervous every time he touched the ball. Gillmore obviously has selective memory, or only takes practices into account.

  3. TMart, a redshirt freshman, allegedly threw a hissy fit over not being the starting QB. He made a power move by quitting the team, in which the coaches acquiesced and named him the starter.

the most BS part of this post is that there's no way in hell Bo would make someone a starter because they cried.

  4. I'm just curious. I still have the VHS tapes. Unfortunately I just got rid of the TV that had VHS/DVD capability. Guess I'll finally have to get them on DVD.

I think I watched them the most from 2004-2007. There, I managed to say when without mentioning his name. It was the only thing that made those years bearable.

  5. It's funny how differently the opposing teams see games, even when they seem reasonable. As a NE fan, I didn't even want to watch the game. It was disgusting that we had to play Washington again. I was bored from the start of it. As all of this was going through my head I knew that the players would feel almost the same, no matter what the coaches said, and before the game started I knew Washington had a good chance to win, even though we annihilated them before.

So ya, like others have said, Washington was not a different enough team to turn a 30ish point loss around. I don't care how good your arguments are :P

I just hope this game doesn't turn into another 10' Texas. We expected high results last year and of course came out very disappointed.

I doubt it will. Everyone knew how important that game was. It was THE game of the season. It was too much pressure. Washington is no comparison. (IMO, psychology is 50% of the game, especially with 18-22 year olds). That's why terrible teams can beat great ones. That's why college football is fun.

  6. I really don't understand why everyone keeps talking about experience. No matter how much experience Green got, he was never good and showed no signs of improvement, imho. Experience means nothing when you're not any better after two years of it. Sure, he was nice. But that isn't helpful when you're trying to win games.

Anyway, I was surprised that they didn't decide right after last season to try to move him to a different position. Maybe he didn't want to, though. Dunno.

  7. I have mixed feelings about this for the same reasons most people do - everyone making piles of money off of the kids except for the kids.

However, I call BS on them actually needing the extra money. I say this as someone who is attending UNL right now with grants and loans, and I don't have a job. I have no trouble paying for the stuff I need, and I'm not frugal. If they're running out of money it's probably because they're spending it on things they don't need, or as someone else said, they're supporting their family. (And in that case it's sad that that's on their shoulders)

  8. Congrats Moraine, just made Unsportsmanlike Conduct's Message Board Post of the Day. It was pretty funny.

Awesome. What'd they say? Or does it just sound funny when it's read out loud? :P. I looked on the website and I don't see a way to listen to stuff that's already been on the air.

  9. Wow. Showed some gall by saying "Hi Tom". I feel as though a "Hello, sir" or "Hi, Dr. Osborne" would have been more appropriate. Interesting story, regardless.

That entered my mind later, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it considering I had about two seconds to decide what my earth-shattering words would be. (I recognized him about half a second before he turned to walk into the alley to get his car, so I didn't have a block's worth of walking to think of what to say).

  10. There isn't much to this but

    a. I'd never met him before and I've wanted to for 20+ years

    b. I'm still really hyper so I have to post it :P

I live off campus and I was walking to school and this thin tall older man walked out of a store, but I only saw his back at first so my first thought was "He looks a lot like Tom Osborne." But you don't expect to see him walking around. At least, I don't. So I didn't really think it was him, and I was too scared to say anything in case it was just some random guy. But then I saw his reflection in a shop window and since his profile is easy to recognize I was certain :)

I probably wouldn't have said anything but there was no one within a block of us so it wasn't going to draw a bunch of attention, so I said "Hi, Tom" and he asked me how I was doing :D
