  1. I find two things odd about this topic.

    1. Everyone saying that Oregon "will not" lose. This is college football. I don't think I need to say more than that. But I will anyway. Oregon still has their 2 best opponents left.

    2. Oregon need to lose 2 games for us to jump them. That makes no sense. We'll have won against higher ranked teams than they have. We lost against a worse team but beat better teams. Also, late losses are much more harmful to a team's rating.

  2. Things would be easier if Oregon would lose... If only anybody in the PAC 10 knew how to play defense AT ALL.

Arizona's #7 in Scoring Defense and #10 in Total Defense. They're probably the best chance. Oregon State seems good too though. Their losses are to good teams... except Washington.

  3. in the next 8 days, EVERY team that had to lose did lose, and Nebraska went to the national championship game.

Exactly. I remember watching every one of those games. There were even some where Team A had to beat Team B which had to beat Team C, and it happened exactly that way. I'm not getting my hopes up either but our chances aren't that bad.

  4. meh. I'm not putting my hopes on it or anything, but way way crazier things have happened. IIRC in 2000 we needed 6 teams to lose between November 26 and December 9, and it happened.

    Alabama plays Auburn

    TCU plays Utah

    & Oklahoma obviously

That puts Nebraska at #7 (just going by USA Today and AP)

Oregon still has to play Arizona which will be the only team they play all year that has anything resembling a defense. Ohio State has to play Iowa.

I don't see this all happening though. The craziest part would be the SEC championship. If Alabama beats Auburn, the only team left to beat them would be in the SEC championship, and the chance that South Carolina beats them twice in the same year is slim to none.

I just hope in our BCS bowl we don't have to face a lame team like VT or Pittsburgh. (Though it would be sort of fun to smash Pederson's team). It would be cool if we could play Ohio State.

(Please don't reply saying "we're getting ahead of ourselves. Nebraska needs to actually win their games first. Yes, I'm aware of that)

  5. His lack of playing time early in the year in blowouts but now twice in 3 weeks in very important situations cant be explained otherwise to me.

There are other possibilities for this.

a: He didn't need the practice near as much as Green, seeing as he started 85% of the games last year. I think this is valid. It wasn't helping him "learn" anything to go into a 4th quarter blow out game. What would he learn from that? Green is still a sophomore and needs the experience..

b: Green hadn't yet started fumbling every other time he touched the ball. Lee jumped him in the depth chart because of that.

  6. well if you were watching other games, the guy from Virgina that laid out Harris from Miami got praised for a good legal hit

Same thing happened in the Oregeon - USC game, by Brent Musberger(sp). The USC guy hit the Oregon guy hard, head to head, and Brent was talking about what a great play it was.

  7. But please dont say it wasnt helmet to helmet because it was.

Agree here. I thought it wasn't helmet to helmt until someone posted a video from a different angle in another thread. There's no question that it was helmet to helmet. But there is also no question that if you suspend one player for that type of hit, you should suspend another. Especially if they happen in the same game.

  8. Should a bad Purdue team have been ranked #7 after they beat #7 Ohio State last year?

No. Please note that I said Missouri is undefeated. If Missouri was 6-1 and beat Oklahoma, I wouldn't argue that they should replace them. I'd also like to add that I never thought Oklahoma looked that great. I thought they should have been #5.

If I was ranking I'd look at every team and think of who I think they would beat 2 times out of 3, but also use their losses as part of it. I think Alabama would beat every team in the country 2 times out of 3, but they don't deserve to be #1 because they blew it. I'd put them (and Auburn) ahead of Boise State and TCU though. They have too tough of a schedule to not be rewarded for it, while Boise State plays a bunch of nobodies. Beating one good team doesn't prove you deserve anything. Alabama plays at least 5 teams that are better than Virginia Tech, imo.

  9. But PLEASE stop throwing as your going down. It worked out ok today, but it's gonna get picked and returned for 6

I have a feeling he'll never stop doing that. He didn't stop doing it after the interception.

  10. they were waiting for the injured player to be removed from the field?

That did crack me up. But I think someone threw the flag before they realized a player was injured. But it was funny that they were penalized for delay of game and then we had to wait 5 minutes for the guy to go to the sideline.
