  1. video

Listening to him talk about the safeties coming up, and how that makes the defense vulnerable to those big runs, just makes me think about the influence he's had on designing this new offense. Hearing him talk about how he hasn't seen a player with burst like Martinez, and that the efficiency of the offense last night surpasses even his more productive games... wow.

    This is getting serious.

We are so lucky with this guy, heh. He just sort of fell out of the sky. I don't like thinking of what the team would be like without him. Okay, it would be like last year.

And I'm glad Osborne lost the governor election.

  2. great article.

I watched the Taylor Martinez interview. There's something endearing about his interviews. When people ask stupid questions (and most of them are stupid) he gives them the answers they deserve. I know he's not purposely being that way but I like that he doesn't try to stretch out the answer just to sound good. "How explosive is your offense?" "As you guys can see it's pretty explosive." Dumb question deserves "dumb" reply. 90% of the questions he's asked, anyone who watched the game could answer.

Pretty much all of them can be summed up like this: "What happened on that play?" "I ran real fast-like"

  3. Zach Lee should have been benched early last season

    O.o

he did get benched, and then Green came in and wasn't better. If you're implying Martinez should have replaced him, they didn't know he was good at QB until they put him in that position on the scout team, and it's not really fair to redshirt someone and then have them come in and play in the middle of the season and miss 1/8th of their cfg career because of it.

  4. T-B Gone might be even more appropriate, the kid has a set of wheels, kinda feel sorry for Helu and Burkhead, not get as many touches as last season, oh well, if you got a big gun, keep shootin' it!

A team will come along that learns to have 1 or 2 players just shadow him. Someone should be tackling him every play whether he has the ball or not, imo. And that should open it up for the RB.

  5. I don't think the Texas defense has anywhere close to the world-class speed/talent as many claim or they could never have been lit up by OU or UCLA.

I don't know if you're going by scores but the UCLA one is deceiving, as far as their defense is concerned. UCLA had 291 yards. Texas outgained them. IIRC 2 of the touchdowns were from turnovers inside the Texas 20, but I might be remembering wrong. I'm still confident we'll do well, but it will be more of a challenge.

I'm not too worried about Texas's offense though.

  6. Impressive, our linebackers are really overachieving this year for not bein the 1's, imagine the depth we'd have at the position if whaley and fischer weren't hurt. Also, does it seem weird that our DB's only had one pick? our D is so balanced and fast this year, its not right

Gomes was about a half second away from one in the second half. It's amazing when you see a team actually throw it to Amukamara, it's like he's part of the other guy's jersey.

  7. why is green ahead of lee?

I think it's because Lee is a senior, which I know sounds stupid. But Lee has also had way more practice running the offense in game situations than Green had. I'm not saying that means he doesn't need practice, but I think they're trying to get Green more experience because he has less, and he'll be around for more than 4 more months.

  8. So it begins. Which road game will be the worst/best this year as far as fan taunts?

This is it. I can't see Iowa State being that bad. I've never sensed a lot of hate in that series. That's basically it. I can't see Texas A&M and Oklahoma State being all that pissed. Missouri would have been the worst.

  9.

“I don’t know what to expect,” Osborne conceded. “I’ve heard and expect more nasty comments in some places. There will be others that will be more respectful. I do know everyone in the Big 12 is going send us out with a loss.”

Wait, what? We're going 0-8 in Big 12 play? Way to have confidence in the squad, Tom.

    :sarcasm

I wonder if he mispoke or they actually typed it wrong on purpose :D

  10. If Kinnie is the one getting most of the catches, there's a reason for it.

I think it is called Martinez tendency to stare his way no matter what and not look at the whole field. That could just be me though. :dunno

I agree that he does that, but I think there is a reason he's most comfortable with Kinnie.

  11. i need specifics, what exactly did paul say in the article that makes him deserving of all the vitriol?

You already have specifics. 3 of the 4 quotes annoyed me. It's all "me me me, I deserve the ball more and I'm talented"

Everyone else talks about the team. It's okay for him to be mad, but not to say these things to the press.

you woefully misused quotes there. and i am not even sure you read the article.

lol. I was not actually saying or implying that was a real quote. That was a summary of what he said. Maybe everything inside of the quotes was in white text for you, so I will paste them again here and show you that my summary was accurate:

when you're not getting the looks that you think you deserve, it sucks

^ this is the one that annoyed me the most.

They obviously know what I can do with the ball in my hands and the plays I can make

^ this annoyed me because what he does with the ball in his hands is hand it off to the other team.

“It kind of frustrates me a little bit,” Paul said. “Obviously, there's more that goes into it. There's a scheme. And we're running the ball. But if you put the ball up and let me go get it, I'm going to go get it.”

He shouldn't be frustrated (or at least not talk to the media about it) if the team is getting yards and winning. That's all that should matter. Just look at Zac Lee for a good example of how someone should talk to the media.
