  1. I really was not trying to start a thread to discuss the merits of a playoff versus the merits of the current system...based on sports radio, tv, blogs, etc I actually thought most college football fans had long ago decided the current system was not a legitimate way to decide a champion. Based on the first few responses to this thread maybe not all fans have come to this conclusion. For those fans that are fed up with the current system, I just wanted to offer up a way to really have our voice heard by using the power of our $$$. If you feel this way, please boycott the bowls or offer another way to have our votes heard. If you enjoy the current system then I hope you have a very enjoyable bowl season and I will be right along side you cheering the Huskers at the start of the next regular season!!!
  2. I know that reasonable people can disagree on this topic, but I am wondering about those that do not want a playoff system in college football...do you have the same perspective in other sports or is this just unique to college football? If this is the best way to determine a champion, maybe we should stop March Madness and the College World Series and just let the top two teams play a game to determine the champion of that sport. To me it seems obvious that the basketball tourney and the College World Series are great events that add lots of excitement and let the decision be made on the field/court but I would be interested on others perspective.
  3. I truly believe that most college football fans want a playoff system to determine a true national champion rather than a contrived bowl system that determines nothing. Unfortunately most fans feel that this decision is out of their control...Not True. Fans determine if we get a playoff system or if we stick with the current system of meaningless exhibition games. Each year we hear all the reasons why people hate the BCS, the bowl system etc. The reason college football is big business is because of us...we are are the ones that pay for the season tickets, jerseys, booster donations etc. The NCAA is influenced by how we spend our money. If we continue to buy bowl game tickets and travel to games we have no one to blame but ourselves for the lack of a playoff. If we the fans would simply boycott the bowls for 1 year (really just a little over a month) we would see change happen quickly. For one bowl season we should boycott buying tickets, traveling to the game, and even from watching it on Television. If we did this we would have more influence then we could possibly imagine. It is said that the definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over but hoping for a different result...Stop the insanity and boycott the bowls!! Sorry for the rant.
  4. We have averaged 4 losses per year (actually 4.4) over the last 10 years playing in the Big 12 North. So if we only have 2-4 losses per season for the next 10 years in the Big 10 (or whatever new name is) it will be an improvement. I think most teams that average only 2 losses per year will be consistently in the top 10 and compete for NC every few years.
