  1. What walkons are playing a ton of minutes but not starting? I ask because it's been cav's stated policy to not substitute during games unless it's a blowout. And we haven't had any of those.

I still fundamentally disagree with those who claim this OL is piecemeal. There's a lot of talent there, especially relative to most other OLs.

I will grant that his OC has done very little to help him and his unit out, though.

Utter - walk on, Hahn - walk on, Conrad - walk on. How can you not consider that piecemeal? I think Cav is getting the brunt of the former staff recruiting misses like Johnson, Painter and Whitaker. I do agree there's talent, but its young.

  2. I was running errands this morning and caught the beginning of Husker Hangover with Matt Vzal on 1620 the zone. Matt starts out by saying he's not going to jump on Bruce Reed (the Fo Fiddy thread covers that topic nicely), but he cannot understand Husker fans getting on the other coaches, such as Coach Cav and Coach Brey. I don't either.

Coach Cav is working with a piece-meal offensive line and has all year. Walk ons who probably shouldn't even be playing in mopup time are starting and playing a ton of minutes. Give him a year or two so he can get his guys playing. The 2017 offensive line will be a strength of the team, marky my words.

Coach Brey, I think, is one of the stars of the Husker coaching staff. He did great things last year with limited number of players and this year, Rose-Ivy and Banderas are playing tremendous football in the latter part of the season. In 2017, only Dedrick Young will be returning, but the linebackers will be more athletic and probably better. Plus Brey is an A-1 recruiter.

    What's the deal?

  3. Does Reed even recruit? I cannot remember him being the main recruiter on anyone but probably Jordan Ober, and he's a freaking longsnapper. An important job, but any Nebraska walk-on would love to do it.

  4. The Huskers missed out on a former Pius graduate Michael Helman. Michael led Hutchison (Kansas) JC in batting with .416 average and was recently named the 2016 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division I Gold Glove winner at second base. Michael recently committed to play for former Husker coach Rob Childress at A&M.

My nephew played with Michael in high school and legion ball and I know Michael wanted to be a Husker BAD, but now he'll probably manning a middle infield position in College Station.

  5.

Remember when Kevin Dillman was the QB recruit for that class and he was a TE on the junior varsity team?

    Good times.

He was the swedish sensation! His initial offer list was pretty insane - Florida State, Alabama, Ohio State, USC...

Now Dillman is a RS freshman defensive end at Texas St.

  6. I learned that we have no special teams. We should rush 11 on punts and forget about a return.

Against better competition, we will not be able to win by attrition and "wearing them down".

Our receivers are money. Solid across the board.

    We are loaded at RB.

Tommy is and will always be Tommy.

I know some hated Gerry's hand off, but I liked it. It's been forever since we had a sh!t talking screw you defensive player capable of getting into the heads of opponents. For full disclosure, if he was on another team, I'd hate it. BUT NU needs that swagger.

I still have no real idea how good we are, can be or can't be. If we could put together 4 solid quarters (I haven't seen that in probably 15 years) we could easily win the West and give the East a fight in the B1G CC if not win.

    Still unsure on the staff....

Great game as it was a win. Plus TO, since I can't remember.

  7.

Dinardo said a good season would be a bowl game for what he saw today. Which is actually good because he is usually wrong

    http://www.btn2go.com/video/btn-live-west-division-predictions

Last year he said we'd win the division so I'm also taking this as a positive....

I'm taking DiNardo's comments as a positive as well. In fact, Jerry may have just cemented my feelings all along that the Huskers are going to have a great season.

  8. It's time Erstad bites the bullet and steps down. Let AD Eichorst finds someone else coach the Husker baseball team. It's been long enough. Coming into the Big 10, everyone thought that the Huskers would own the conference. ZERO titles.

Honestly, I think Mike Anderson would do better with the team.

  9.

Dominik Olejniczak is the 7 foot guy from drake.. The 250 lb big man from Poland who has announced that he is transferring from Drake, averaged 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 29 games during his freshman campaign. Shot 73.1% from the field and 67.6% from the line. Dominik will have 3 years of eligibility after sitting out one year.

I follow Goodman on Twitter and he's posting about grad and 'regular' transfers multiple times a day and I haven't seen one mention of Nebraska basketball. I'm atta loss for words on why we cannot get any 'big' to come to UNL. We have everything a player could want, except for probably the most important thing, a coach with the reputation of developing a big man so he gets look a sniff at playing pro ball.

  10. I really appreciate your Husker baseball threads, but could you please drop "the fighting Erstads" in every thread?

Call me old fashion, but I think its a lack of respect for the baseball team. No one calls the football team the fighting Rileys etc?

  11. Anyone, besides me, go to the Nebraska Golf Show at the Century Link Center in Omaha this weekend? I was hoping to get fitted for a new set up irons that I'm thinking of buying, but the Cobra representative didn't have any of his tools. I did hit some stiff shaft King F6's, sweet clubs. I thought the show was pretty good, well worth my time. The $8 tall boy beers were cold, but for 8 bucks, they'd better be.

  12. On the mound, I like Zach Engelken. At 6'4" 220 pounds, he's got great size and good stuff.

I watched a couple of Fall Ball games and Westside freshman Mike Waldron stood out like a sore thumb. The ball jumps off his bat. He's actually a walk-on. He had offers from UNO and others, but turned them down to play with his brother Matt.

  13. I put in the lottery and got two tickets for this year's Final Four in Houston, but I can't use them. These are electronic tickets, I'd have to transfer them to you from the Flash ticket website. For more info http://flashseats.com The seats aren't great, but you're in the building.

I paid $200 each and a $20 handling fee. I simply want my money back.

    Anyone interested?

I don't check this site every day, so if you PM me, be patient, I will get back to eventually

  14.

any chance or is it even possible VV comes back now??

Damon Benning is looking to ask VV some questions. I'm assuming it's related.

Don't think he'll come back but would be interesting he hear his thoughts.

Not saying he will come back, but is it even an option? Legally can he? Does he have a certain date to decide by?

I believe it would depend if VV signed with an agent. Which I believe he has, which means he cannot come back
