Well now that golf season is winding down here in NE guess its time to start looking at club sales to try and upgrade the sticks for next year. What is everyone looking at over the winter?

Call me Clark W Griswold, but IF I do get a holiday bonus, I'm going to upgrade my sticks. I've been very happy with my Cobras for the last 7 or 8 years, so that's probably what I'll get this round.

If you do get new clubs, get them fitted for you. I'm 6 feet talk, but I have LONG arms, so my clubs are actually shorter than a 'normal' six footer.

If you're gonna get them fitted for your height you just as well go the rest of the way and get them fitted for your swing too. Its a huge difference maker!

    Where can one do that?

  3. I played yesterday at Indian Trails, south of Beemer, NE. It's a great course, I am a bit biased, because I grew up playing there. The course sits on the bluff above the Elkhorn river, so there some very scenic views from a couple of holes, especially #3 and #11. There are quite a bit of elevated shots to some very slick greens. The course will challenge you. It's well worth the drive. If you look in the Omaha paper, they have coupons where you can pay $40 and play as many holes as you can get in before dark.

  4. I just saw the Tweet about the baseball fan fest and looked at the Huskers schedule and we are going to be in Mesa, AZ staying at my father-in-law's house the weekend of the BYU games in Peoria. I'll be there on Friday for at least one of the DH games scheduled that day.

  5. I've seen 3:30 am every morning this week and stayed awake all but once, and that was when I took Alieve PM before bed. The number of night's over the past 5 years that I have slept all night without taking something is less than 10. I've tried nearly everything I can get OTC, nothing seems to work for me. The next time I'm at the doctors office, I'll ask him/her about it.

  6. Anyone have any experience around Sedona, AZ? I'm taking the family to Arizona for a long weekend and we are thinking of driving from Mesa up to the Grand Canyon for a couple days, with a stop in Sedona. I've seen some of the stuff to do, but but I'm looking for someone who has inside info, stuff definitely to see and maybe even others that are over-hyped and not worth our time and money.

  7. One of the recruiting experts was on Saturday's Hail Varsity radio show and I can't remember who, so I'm not going to guess, said there were two current commits who could 'drop off' the 2014 class. He didn't mention names, but he said if you follow recruiting close enough, you could tell where the coaches have visited lately and where they hadn't. Co-host Mark Kranack (sp) did some investigating at the commercial time out and put Lockheart on this list. Kranack also listed Josh Kalu, but Bo was there on 1/22.

any ideas on who the other potential drop would be?

  8. I love the fact that the coaches are beating every bush for good players to add to this years class, but I wonder if they actually know these 'new' prospects as well as they should.

I know that Ernest Settles was a late addition last year and he was removed from the team because of a behaivor issue. I doubt the coaches would have offered Settles early in the recruiting cycle if they had the time to interview his fellow players, coaches, teachers etc and figured out what type of person Ernest actually is.

I'm not saying that all these players are suspect, but there's always that possibility.

Is this a concern to anyone else or am I off my rocker?

  9. I've been a big fan of the JUCO's that we've gotten in the past and the one's that we have on campus and in this year's class. I've heard lots of scuttle about Bo going too deep in JUCO recruiting this year, while I think Bo is looking JUCO route more this year for a couple of reasons. First, Bo is under pressure to move the program up to the next level and not only compete for championships, but win some. Secondly, especially with the DLine prospects, the staff is trying to even out the scholarships. Right now, most of our DLinemen are freshmen & sophmores, we need to ge some upperclassmen in the fold so we don't lose all of them in the same year. Lastly, I believe Bo and the staff honestly think we are close to being able to compete on a national level and we just need a few more players to get us there.

  10. We are going to be at a youth basketball tournament in Gretna, but we have a window where we can catch most, if not all of the game. Where should we go, going to need to eat something too?

It can't be to rowdy as we will have kids with us, but I don't want a morgue either. Where do we go?

  11. We make at home coffee only on the weekends, otherwise I drink the stuff at work and there I don't really care. I've tried pretty much all the national brands and they suck. My wife puts so much flavor creamer in it that she can't taste it, so she doesn't care. I've got Dunkin Donuts now and am not too impressed.

Can anyone recommend a good brand? I really don't want to grind my own beans, but I will if it's worthy.

  12. Martinez isn't the problem. He's a piece of the puzzle where we try to jam in the wrong place. In 2010, we were playing lights out for the most part until Marinez got hurt. Things went downhill from there. If Beck had called plays against Minnesota as if Armstrong or Kellogg were out there, we win that game. What I don't know is if Martinez is checking out of plays and getting us into bad situations. If this is the case, then Martinez is a problem and is trying to jam his capabilities into the wrong place. Other than possibly Michigan State, there really isn't anyone in the B1G we shouldn't be able to line up against and ram the ball down their throat. Running the hurry up while doing this seems ill advised. We have three very capable RB's. I just don't think we're utilizing what we do have effectively.

THIS^^^^^ but that is not what this thread is about.

I'm not a Martinez fan, he's got all the tools to be a great college QB, but his football IQ is nill and his personality of being a bit of a loner doesn't give him the intangibles to be the man on a winning team. I've noticed a different/better attitude in the team during the Illinois and Purdue game when Tommy started. I'm very anxious to see what happens today.

  13. Take a look at the main football board, or any other message board for Husker football. Every thread is talking about getting rid of this coach or that coach or whatever. We also have the so-called 'greatest fans in college football' bashing one of our best players on Twitter after Saturday's loss. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, WTF???

Why would a 4 or 5 star player subject himself to this crap for the next 4 or 5 years? I don't know if I would choose to come to Lincoln.

Mods, move this to the main board if you see fit.
