Casey Thompson must have made pretty good NIL money last year to be able to take the whole O-line room out to eat and bowling

I think Rivals shared the number - the low-end estimate for Martinez's income last year was $200k. Assuming he makes similar, he can afford a couple of nights out.

  2. Something is bugging me tonight as I'm thinking about the OL - I've seen a lot of sentiment similar to "the portal isn't over, wait to see who we can grab in May"

Am I crazy for thinking that anyone we get in May will be leaving because they couldn't start at their current school? I guess, not starting at another school still makes it very plausible you're better than our starters lol. But I don't think we'll see impact type guys in May.

Which LB coach are you criticizing, as the LB's are split across 2 coaches?

I get that transfers suck, especially after recruits have been brought in and haven't done much.  Jackson Hannah was never going to do anything for NU (he couldn't put on any size and muscle), Honas is a 7th year ILB with 2 bad knees, and Ho'olli wasn't making any progress at OLB.  It would be nice if NU were able to add quality depth, but I don't know if these guys were going to do it for NU anytime soon.

Update - Will Honas was so confident in his LB room he’d rather walk on at KState.

And why are you concerned?  If we are going to bring in portal players, some have to leave.

We haven’t brought in a single transfer LB.

Exactly. Can't praise the transfer portal one day and then bemoan when guys leave NU in the transfer portal the next.

It is a critique of the leader in the room. I love the transfer portal. Seems to work well for the Mickey Joseph and Travis Fishers of the world.

edit: I’ll throw in Tony Tuioti too, he loves the transfer portal.

  5. Having too much fun with all of the offers going out, decided to take a stab at updating this list. Curious who you think is missing - caveat, prospects who have shown interest/we legitimately have a shot with.  TONS of talent in the 500 mile radius.

I mean...Ruud was literally in Omaha every week he could be. I don't really buy the stories. It seems like some didn't realize that the coaches weren't allowed to visit anywhere for nearly two years.

I mean, I’m not crazy man - here’s Sharp and Benning week saying the same thing.

TL;DR - Ruud’s credibility in Omaha is questionable and his recruiting pitch doesn’t resonate. “Who calls you matters, kids notice”, and they’re glad to see Joseph and Chinander get involved at schools that were previously Ruud’s responsibility.

Which is absolutely unbelievable if true. And hearing it from several people that would be in the know about it makes me tend to believe it is more than just rumor.

In addition to his abysmal record that is just downright embarrassing coupled with the fact the program is at a point it hasn't been since Jennings was HC. That this type of dereliction of duty is allowed to take place on his watch is simply inexcusable.

Yep. The comments from Bellevue West's coach about Mickey Joseph stopping by and the comments from the Kansas coach about Bill Busch stopping by told me all I need to know... We know which coaches are responsible for the Midwest.

This kind of falls inline with what we have heard from others with close ties to the program. Unfathomable how this type of thing has been allowed to happen.

The problem is I've heard the same from metro head coaches about Husker coaches still on staff...
