Every big run he had was a designed play to go inside. But he took the ball and ran all the way around the offensive tackle, to avoid contact. It worked, but you are right. He avoids the contact and saw the bench.
Seemed to work okay for Mo Washington, and we would all take him back (on the field, not off it).

Rivals assessment is that the staff has said they want 6 RBs on the roster, and they were at 5 before the addition of Jackson.
Scott and Morrison were both 2020 guys, Jackson replaces them at the same age.

It’s interesting how JUCO recruiting isn’t even talked about much anymore.
I think the new norm is coaches would rather take someone who performs well at FCS and moves up than the same situation in a JUCO.

Wrong, he is still part of the team. Nebraska needs to ask for an exemption to make sure he does not count toward the total. This will just give an extra yr of eligibility.
Wrong, there is a difference between a medical redshirt (Will Honas) and medical hardship (Tre Bryant).
Tre Bryant retired from football and got to keep his scholarship without counting against limits. This is a Tre Bryant situation, not a Will Honas situation.

Rivals scholarship chart has us currently at 89, so we are going to have to shed at least 4 players, and more if we want to add a few more pieces from the portal.
There are a few seniors who are basically non-contributors that need to go (Chris Walker, Damian Jackson, Eva Mauga-Clements) as well as guys who have been recruited over (Cerni). But we still need to lose a few more.
Mauga-Clements and Damian Jackson both played on special teams in every game.
Chris Walker I'll agree with, I think he plans to move on.

Forgive me if this is already started.
If I'm reading this right, Stivrins and Sun are the only ones gone next year? Both are finishing Year 6.
Caffey and Hames both finished Year 5, so have the option to come back for their 6th with the COVID year.
Plus add 2 of the top 6 VB recruits in the country?

Just catching up on the signing day conferences - the coaches reiterated multiple times that they "got the best players in the state", particularly referring to Stenger and Appleget.
Kind of offensive to Genatone, imo. Film doesn't lie, and I'd say he more than jumps off the tape.

Still no word on Special Teams coach or advisor from what I've seen? Although not surprising I guess since it seems HCSF still doesn't take ST seriously even though they cost us wins every year.
Out of curiosity I looked up the aggregate ST rankings for the four years of Frost's tenure.
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa/fei/overallst/2021
2018 - #109 - The high point of ST under Frost
2019 - #123
2020 - #115
2021 - #128
You must not be looking very hard. All signs point to Busch being named ST coach once Frost figures out his plan for RBs. Busch is on the road recruiting and acting in this role now. He went and got the kicker and punter transfers he wanted.

Personally, I tend to agree with you, but it seems like all of the insiders, keep coming up with Ruud rather than Dawson. When I said "can't see them letting Dawson go", it is based off of all of the information I have read and heard from people who know more than I do. I like Ruud, his passion, his loyalty, his ability.
This is accurate. Outside of Reimer (who is an incredible athlete, the exception to the rule), I can't say I've seen much development of other ILBs from Ruud.
His primary recruiting responsibility is Nebraska, particularly in fixing whatever problems we have in Omaha. I've heard it first hand from head coaches in the Omaha metro that he is terrible at that part of his job. Not present at the schools, hasn't built the relationships... that is their view of the world, and it has been consistent.

If a kicker with college experience and a decent stat line wants to come walk-on and try to make the team, why say no?
Are you talking about the Furman #2 kicker, who was the backup to the guy we just put on scholarship? haha
Because he takes reps from Charlie and crowds up the room when he already lost the battle to #1 at his FCS school.

I don’t think there will be that many when the season starts. And, when they were so bad last year, we needed all new kickers.
I don’t believe most of these are taking up a scholarship.
Correct, only one on scholarship. But it is the shotgun approach to finding a kicker instead of quality over quantity.

If we trust this: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=14775799
11.2 PR in the 100, 23.16 in the 200. Looks faster with pads on to me, which is what I'll take.

Like this take... but I will never understand how our approach to specialists. This guy + the two Furman kickers - Culp brings us to 8 kickers on the roster. The #3 kicker in the country in 2023 (Kohl's rankings) goes to Millard South and tweets at Nebraska staff often, basically begging for an opportunity.
At some point, there aren't enough reps to go around. The staff has shown they have enough of a hard time making a decision on the right specialist, much less if they have 10 options to choose from.

I got a little Mo Washington vibes watching him, tbh. Very quick, pulls away in the open field, but it is the lateral change of direction for me. This guy loves to bounce it outside and just turn on the jets. Would be very happy if we got this one, I have no idea why that type of film doesn't have this guy swimming in P5 offers.

What does that even mean? Literally our best WR was from the FCS. Good players can be on bad teams or at lower levels.

A name I saw thrown around that is intriguing is willie korn, Central Carolina’s co-oc (other OC is the head coach). They do some good stuff with options and it kinda falls in line with the quote when he let the offensive coaches go that he would like to work with someone who can help him adjust the offense.
Frost did go out to Central Carolina this offseason (with UNK's coach, I believe) to study their offense and chat with the staff.

they better put the full court press on this kid
Is he good? He's leaving for a reason. Lots of talent in the portal, but I'm always wary... kids don't leave programs because they're starting and lighting the world on fire, typically.

A competent OL? I can't imagine that, sorry.

Wonder when Thomas Fidone 2 makes his return? I remember them mentioning be might not be gone the whole season! 4 games to play still too!
Rivals guys said today that he'll play down the stretch, but don't expect an impact. He's good, but not enough to displace Allen or Vokolek right now, which is fair. They are playing at a very high level.
He'll get some reps and be ready to go next year as TE1.
