  1. Scott Frost is a professional football coach.  He has a set of skills that allow him to ply his trade.  No different from engineer who knows technical drawing or a carpenter who can start with a bare patch of ground and build a house.

We are just some whiners with smartphones.

Could be, but Maryland QBs also seem to turn the ball over as well.  Not to the level of Rutgers but....Speaking of Maryland, I can't imagine talking about 'Husker football in 1994 and someone telling me that Maryland vs. Nebraska would be a conference game 25 years later.  Still just seems strange.

Maryland and Rutgers in the Big 10 is like adding sweet relish and sauerkraut to a deluxe bacon cheeseburger.  Its too much and makes no sense.

The playoff pageant only cares about the SEC, only conf with any street cred. So its all irrelevant

  3. A story I know well, there once was a small town high school football team who had never made it to state.  Though they had big boys, fast boys, and smart boys over the years they never won more than 2 games in a season.  One veteran observer who had just witnessed another bitter defeat coolly stated "this town pisses away more talent than the Dallas Cowboys".  Another fan was heard saying " Those boys sure need help.  "

One year a new Old Coach rolled into town.  With an eagle eye he watched every athlete weigh in at the start of the year and began to guess each player's height and weight, never being off by more than an inch or 5lbs to the amazement of the Seniors.

When practice started the boys could tell the hard work was geared right toward producing well conditioned football players.  They could tell the plays were good, and the new blocking schemes were amazing.

The old coach told the boys, "Every day out here is a battle.  Every day you challenge yourself by going up against someone you dont know if you can beat."  Then he said "Go home and tell your moms and dads that we are going to be good this year.  Then come out here to practice and hit harder and work harder than you ever have to prove it to them. "  And so the boys did tell the town that they were going to be good.  And then they did go to practice and hit harder than they ever had.  Boys started going home with ice wraps on their arms and legs.  The weight program was instituted big time, 7AM.  Players were going to get stronger throughout the season.

Then came week one, the moment of truth against a worthy opponent and rival.  The Old Coach said, if they could get this first win, the rest would follow but they had to do the things they learned in practice; everybody does their own job, and "Get it Done".  It was a nail biter, but the neighboring rivals were sure stunned when they got beat by the perrennial doormat team and the Old Coach.  After that, this team made history for the small town finishing at 10-2.  So from 2-7 to 10-2 in one year with nothing but the addition of one Old Coach.

You see there is something about the right coach which earns respect.  And when the boys totally respect, and admire their coach they will run through a brick wall for him.  And there is a bond that forms among teammates, to become like brothers. I think the real magic happens when the right coach is fortunate enough to meet up with the right players.  Senior/ Junior players who are willing to go all out for the new guy, and win.  Willing to go all out every day to set the example for the young guys.

  4. Read the new article by Husker Dan.  I think we are talking 3-4 more recruiting classes if Scott can pull them together and get the team believing.

You will know it the day we come out and beat someone big we aren't supposed to.  Like Stoops did to us.  It shows the team has bought in.

Good luck to the Huskers the rest of this season, my hoops season starts this week so I am in the gym for 5 months!

I hope Hoiberg has a great season as well...... and Dvdcrr, I do well for myself for not being able to read or write.

If you are from Tennessee you know what I'm talkin about.  don't lie

Our issues come down to coaching and talent. Good lord does this post have way too many incorrect assumptions. If you said this tongue in cheek, my bad.

Or maybe youre right what the hell do I know.

I would take it as, "we need to stop focusing on who knows how much of the playbook, and start focusing on who can tackle, block, catch, and run".

    Reset the depth chart, baby!

For example, getting the D line to quit turning their shoulders, and stop turning their back to the play

I hear the Ohio State players sleep in the film room and have never even sucked helium out of a balloon for fear it would affect their football cadence.

Well I am not bragging but the best football team I ever saw was the Columbus Helium Suckers!

You are wrong.  The coaching is there, what is lacking is player effort, player leadership, player priorities.

When Minnesota was on the field this past Saturday, their intensity, focus and execution looked like they were playing for a B1G title. Nebraska looked like they couldn’t wait to get back on the plane and head home.

It’s disheartening to hear Frost has to have this conversation. But it feels like it’s been like this for years now. The “want to” just doesn’t seem to be there at all. Our opponents consistently have career days against us. Iowa wants it. Wisconsin wants it. Minnesota wants it. For whatever reason, Nebraska seemingly doesn’t.

Well put yourself in the players shoes.  You are a coddled super athlete who has always had luck with football but because you are so athletic you don't really get challenged in high school.  Now in recruiting, you were passed over by Texas, Alabama because there were players with your athleticism who also LOVE football and are intent on the NFL, while you merely like the game, this having manifested itself in your stats and slight lack of self promotion.  Now here comes Nebraska who lost out on the kid who went to Alabama.  They are willing to pay your way completely.  You get to Lincoln and are shown the posh amenities, full snack/smoothie bar at the Hawks Championship center, fine ladies, and lots of bud.  Later that night (and many nights after) the older members of the team and some chicks party in the dorm with some mighty fat bowls.

Coach is talking about winning and sacrifice, but what he mean?  Nebraska only ever wins 5-8 games a year so as long as we keep it on the down lo, what they gonna do, kick us out?

    Maybe read the quote...

There is obviously no source or date in the quote.  Source refers to who is reporting what was said, IE what credible source is standing behind the "quote"  and the date is when it was supposed to have been said, usually expressed in some form of calendar date, such as the  Gregorian or Julian calendar.   Get it now?

Otherwise the post is not particularly clear, inferences notwithstanding.

Not just Frost with some strong words.  Here's a quote from Bando:

Austin, with his group around him on the sideline after the game, laid out the stakes.

“He told us it was a moment where we needed to realize that it’s time to either quit or to get better,” said sophomore Broc Bando, who took over for Trent Hixson at left guard in the second half. “And I’m going to get better.”

IMHO, Frost and Co do have culpability in this seasons performance as wall.  It's not only the players fault.....

if you are going to quote something please give the source and date.  When was that said?

Also the record of an occasional lunatic who alienated fans and would have been off to greener pastures as soon as his coaching stock rose. It’s more than just record.

    No it isn't.

Its just that there arent any 12-0 on that list.

Just ask NCAA/Big 10/Penn St. ( in it together for the benjamins)

I can't read it but by headline alone this is why we ended up with Callahan and Riley. From the outside Nebraska fires 9 win coaches and questions coaches after a season and half.

The start of Scott's tenure hasn't gone the way many thought or hoped, but he's universally regarded as a great coach. Almost everyone knew this was a massive rebuilding project. If we for some reason ran Frost off a legit coaching prospect would never consider Nebraska again.

The failures of this team fall in part on Frost and in part the players and prior staffs, but Frost needs his contract played out. If he doesn't fix it then that's probably just where Nebraska is at.

I have no doubt Frost can fix this and as painful as Saturday was Frost needs to get the chance to figure it out.

I think he needs help.  I'm thinking Kirby Smart on one side of the ball and Joe Brady on the other.

  15. you gotta love fan insanity.  I listen to Colin talk about it, so true.  Every spring, we will get 10 wins.  When will we be back, 2 years.  You gotta love it.  Whats coming our way?  I don't know, are we in a La Nina or an El Nino?

Anybody gonna get Saban on the phone?

Well the dumpster fire continues that we call Nebraska Football.  Can't field a team that can compete at all.  Ohio State, Minnesota beat downs will be surpassed by Wisconsin a$$ whopping.  Huskers may win six games this year against the scrubs and bottom feeders,

so you are talking bout a scrimmage then

frost was on the oregon staff for several years learning from chip kelly before he took over the playcalling. it's the same offense.

it does not work in the physical cold big 10. especially with average talent.

Of all the things going on, you chose to focus on the OFFENSE?  Hello McFly did you see Minny go for 327 yds on the ground against our D?  Now THAT is the thing that has to change to fit the Big 14.
