1. Lawn work is super lame.
2. Totally agree, they are gonna get 2 QB's in the portal. Probably a grad transfer that is just looking to get that last year in and will be cool as a starter or cool if he (or she, relax SJW's) has to back up. And they will get a soph or Covid junior that still has like 6 years left for some reason.
Are you drunk? Haha.

Not my point
And yet they still have two far better wins this year than NU
Meh, I don't know about better wins, but they also got smoked by Purdue, blew it against Wisconsin, and were terrible against Nebraska.

I mean, we’re still very much in the hunt
We basically just can't be tied with Minnesota at the end of the year. NU will need wins over Wisconsin and Iowa to be in the hunt, which would give NU tiebreakers over them. If NU loses to Maryland, it will be tough to win the division at 5-4.

With such a terrible QB room it is quite envious to watch Illinois trot their backup QB and go 3-3 for 85 yards and the game winning TD with a minute left
Illinois' QB's looked pretty bad against us a few weeks ago.

Agreed. I'd love it for Chubba if he could come in and contribute to a win or two in these last three. But I'm assuming he's just not looking very good in practice.
I just don't think Purdy is getting many reps in practice. Once the season starts, teams are installing game plans and doing prep work for that specific game. That means the reps are going to the top guys, especially when the coaches are trying to do their best to improve Haarberg for this season.

Well I don't know about you, but I'd rather see him just scrambling than throwing into coverage like he did multiple times today.
Agree here. His brain is clearly rattled if he can't just stand there with a four yard forcefield of a bubble. And even then he'll miss passes he just shouldn't. His 42% completion rate today is just plain awful.
I think our thoughts aren't far off from each other. Maybe I am expecting too much for Haarberg to be able to move around in the pocket or scramble to one side and stay looking downfield to find an open receiver. He obviously has issues doing that, so yes, his best option may just be to try and find a lane and run.
The trouble with that is that I don't think Haarberg is very quick. Yes, he's a big and fast guy, especially in the open field, but he doesn't have good and quick feet. He lumbers around on the field. But, that's why the coaches were looking for him to be an H-Back type at the beginning of the season.

Fixed that for you. Defense had been extremely good coming into this one in the previous three.
I also saw some pretty bad pass blocking today. I know Ricky had the one scramble that setup the late TD, but I wish his instincts were a little better to just tuck it & run when the pass isn't there.
It's not so much tucking and running, but it's being able to move around in the pocket or extend a play and then make a pass on the run. The blocking has to be near perfect for Haarberg to make any attempt at a pass, and then we have to pray that the pass is on target.

I did needed yard work directly after the game, and I am not going to go back through this entire thread. I really didn't learn anything today.
- I am being realistic and known NU is a flawed team with a flawed roster, and the coaches aren't perfect.
- NU's margin of error is very slim each week.
- The D gave up some big plays which cost them points, which hadn't happened the prior 3 weeks.
- The offense is bad, but reasonable considering the amount of young guys and backups we are playing
- NU needs to do their best to find 2 QB's in the transfer portal. One young one, and one older one.

Why didn't the clock stop on the first down there? It's under two minutes.
They marked us short for some reason.

Bad spot and we didn’t get the clock stopped

This, the only throws he should be allowed to attempt are roll outs.
He doesn’t throw on the run. It’s not a pass play then.

We do not have pocket passers. Why on earth does Satterfield keep calling pass plays in the pocket. Make it make sense.
Have you seen Haarberg try to throw it on the run?

No way he can be the answer next year but best option we got now purely because of his running.
Yeah, he is the best option for this year. But not long-term.

So maybe we can be done with the keep HH at QB next year because he is a gamer and a winner nonsense.
People saying that were fools.

That pass is why HH’s passing delivery sucks. Can’t have sailing passes deel down the middle.

I remember the days on pin your toes on the 10-15 and let it go if it went over your head
I don’t like fielding a punt at the 6, but punters are much better at not having the ball bounce, and it’s a very soft, grass field.

I thought Fidone had a very good block on Haarberg's TD run. He sealed his man on the inside, and Haarberg was able to follow the WR's who were blocking on the inside.
Fidone hasn't blocked well on the WR screens. Maybe they are asking him to go too far out to make that block. Either way, Satt should throw that play out of the playbook for this year.
