1. Watson is that you? Actually Osborne advised Bo to retain Watson after the 07' season. Last year and this year the offense has struggled to score points to cost us a lot of games. Bo has done his part to re-amp the defense which he as but the offense needs ton of work in every position. Bo needs to do a lot of work during the off season and it starts with changing the coaching staff. Our defense has kept us in several games both in 09' and this past season with our offense to lay a big terd and fail to score any points. Nice playing with ya Rick. Let me guess you're a BC supporter? Jockey, I guess your statements are facts so lets go off of that. Like I mentioned previously in this thread regarding TO, maybe it's time to give it up. If he is the one that loves Watson and thinks he is doing a great job then maybe, just maybe TO needs to be evaluated. Maybe he's just too nice to fire someone. If thats the case, get him out of there. TO has done a lot for the program but there comes a time when your doing more harm than good it's time to go.
2. Not hard to take serious at all. For some reason, 95% of the Husker fans think Pelini is God because he is a Defensive mastermind. If everyone closely evaluated all the details that go into a Head coach they just may realign there opinions. Reading 'all' of this thread is a great start.
3. I don't see the praise for Chatelain, this is old news. We all knew this. Thank you.
4. "I fear this will be the same next year. Bo will need to figure out how to prep them when every week is going to feel like a bowl game." Exactly, we seen how good he had them prepared for last nights bowl game.
5. Any coach would come to Nebraska, its called dollar bills and a lot of them. Reputation? There is no more class at Nebraska. You can say there is but you know theres not. We've become greedy and are stuck in the mid-90's.
6. Nebraska is not "sooooo" close to being a title contender so kick that out of your head, there is still a alot of work to do. We were suppose to be title contenders this year, see what happened? You set here and shout to support the team. Well, listen I love those huskers but just like all of you who are too coward to admit it....we are one of the worst groups of fans in college football. Were only happy when were winning. Now remember before you start bashing me for saying that when your watching a game it isn't always "Maybe next time!" Thats ok guys, nice try!" "It's ok Niles, you'll catch the next one" "Boy o boy, you coaches are getting underpaid!" What a great scholastic school Nebraska is". If everyone was truly 100% supportive there would be no bashing of Watson or any coach and everyones main focus would be that the kids are getting a good education. Thank you.
7. this thread is just a noob trying to get attention. ignore it. bo is not gonna get fired and he is the right man for the job. Noob, yes. Get attention, no. Ever mention that Bo is going to get fired, no. Just my opinion.
8. Sorry, not a joke. Legitimate thread. no.....it is a joke....it really is. Hey ricks - Hunter is right. I have never once stated that Bo is going to get fired. If I had stated that than yes, this thread would be a joke. I know thats not going to happen this off-season anyways. What I am saying is that in my opinion he needs to go. Thank you. Then your opinion is wrong. Bo doesn't need to go. What he needs to do is make the necessary coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball. Is geting rid of Watson and replacing him with the best OC in the country. And you're welcome Same results will appear in the future, just spinning your wheels. Bo has obviously made a great selection with Watson, so the next selection should be even better! Bo's a defensive coordinator and probably the best one there is, but thats where the buck stops. Cheers.

Thank you. i respect your opinion, but at the same time i find it impossible to do so....is that even possible? Anything is possible! Washington spanked us last night!

14. He can be blamed if he does not do something to fix the problem. He is not the defensive coordinator, he is HEAD Coach now. So he is responsible for the offense as much as he is any other aspect of the game. It is obvious that he isn't doing anything up to this point to fix the problems, and I really don't think Cotton or Watson have any idea what they need to do now. This is exactly what i said. He can be blamed if he doesn't make a change. Being a head coach doesn't mean you have to know both sides of the ball equally. That is hardly ever the case. The head coach's main responsibilities are to manage the coordinators and get the team ready and motivated for games. Not much more, not much less. He needs to hire someone that can take the reins of the offense while he falls into more of a manager's role. If Bo has an offensive strategy that he wants to go after, he needs to find a coordinator that is familiar with that offense, and spend the offseason setting the mold for the season. Once the season starts, he goes back into managing mode. I'll compare this to the engineering field, since we are trying to engineer a solid football team. Bo is essentially the project manager. He spends his free time (offseason) teaching and discussing with his project engineers (asst. coaches) about the upcoming project (season). Once the project is underway, the project manager sits back, listens to feedback from his project engineers, makes recommendations, but by and large lets them do what they want. Once the finished project is put on the table, he can evaluate it and make the proper changes. The project manager doesn't necessarily know every bit and piece of the project, and is mainly concerned about the final product. Bo doesn't want to, or need to, micromanage the entire team. He needs to trust his coaches to do the right things on a day to day basis, and always be evaluating what they do, but not stepping on their toes. Nebraska has a lot of young talent, and a lot of players that can lead Nebraska to the promised land. Bo now needs to evaluate the job done by his staff this past season and make the necessary changes, which in my mind, includes canning the offensive staff. "The head coach's main responsibilities are to manage the coordinators and get the team ready and motivated for games." This is what I have been saying! Instead of firing Watson last year which should of happened, but instead a random 33-0 blowout against Arizona was the only reason hes around. Bo and TO thought that was enough to even give him a raise! Then as for motivation, just take a look at last night!
15. Maybe, but this is the time that someone needs to step up and take some responsibility. Bo is the Head Coach, it is up to him at this point to make the changes that need to be made, otherwise it will be Dr. Tom's job to get rid of Bo for not doing the job. I don't think Bo's job is even close to being on the line, unless he does not make changes (gets rid of Watson & Cotton, maybe others) and we go nowhere next season, then I think Bo's job will definitely be on the line. Watson really wasn't Bo's choice from what I understand, he was Dr. Tom's choice to have some continuity. So, if you are going to point at anyone, maybe Dr. Tom should retire? I know...this comment will not be well received by any Husker fan...but that is the logic. I agreed with keeping on Watson, because he was the only bright spot of the Callahan coaching staff...and even that was a stretch. I also know that Dr. Tom wanted to keep some kind of feeling of tradition for the team, a lot of which disappeared thanks to BC. I DO NOT advocate firing either Dr. Tom, or Bo at this point. For one thing I think Dr. Tom will leave when he knows he is no longer needed or is a force. He is that classy. And I also don't believe Bo has been really given a chance to put in place "his choice" to run the offense. It's fair to say that maybe Tom should step down. I love TO as much as the next person, but the game is 100x different when he was coaching. He hasn't kept up with the fast moving switch of college football. Being classy no longer matters, winning National Championships matter. Look at Auburn, no more class, but hey....there in the only game that counts after the season is over. He is the Head Coach, if he doesnt have any choice in the offense than whats the point of having a head coach? Just have Coordinators and assistants I guess?
