  1. I like the Big Ten better than the Big 12 and there is no comparison. The Big Ten reminds me of the Big Eight when we used to play there a long time ago. It is fun football and a fun conference.

The Big 12 is going to be gone soon and if we didn't get out we would have been in big trouble. I'm glad we are in the Big Ten. It's better to play Ohio State and Michigan and Wisconsin than anyone else in the Big 12 except for Oklahoma.

  2. We learned that even after beating a team in the top ten by three touchdowns Nebraska fans can still find plenty of things to be unhappy about.

Sorry, I learned from Tom Osborne and continue to learn from Bo that the end result is not the most important thing. If you want to strive for excellence then you realize there are always things that can be improved upon. I'm happy with the win but only people that only care about winning or losing would gloss over where we could've been better.

A wise man once told me that only the Sith deal in absolutes.

Yes there were things that we need to fix and we did not play a perfect game but we did just beat a top ten team and there are more posts complaining about things than celebrating the win. It's like we can't just be happy we won we have to seek out every little thing and pick it apart with tweezers and a microscope. If we listed everything we did wrong in that game we would be here until December but we won. Let's celebrate that. :wasted

  3. The only good thing about going to Indy and losing would be the novelty of being the only team to have gone to two different conference's first ever championship games.

I would take the BCS bowl choice every time.

  4. I like how you worded that Husker_x. We have to limit Taylor's exposure. We have to make him stop throwing balls more than twenty yards downfield because his windup takes two hours. But if Beck calls plays that let him focus on what he is best at then he can excel. Don't pound a square peg into a round hole.

  5. Not sure how this thread came off as a complaint against how the secondary played yesterday. Was sure I just asked if the few missed int's would be brought up in film, or just ignored due to the best defensive play this year.

    Edit: This last game...not year.

They have to talk about the missed INTs because what else would they talk about? Everyone played a really good game in the secondary for the first time this year. But the coaches have to teach, so they'll point out those, and there was at least one play where the receiver was wide open that I remember and they'll focus on those plays to teach the guys.

If Stafford had caught that ball he would have scored but if Stafford could catch all the balls thrown to him he'd be a wide receiver. Isn't that what they say about DB's?

  6. There is loyalty and there is not doing your job well.

1-5 is failing at his job. If I was only successful at my job one out of every six times I wouldn't expect my employer to be "loyal" to me.

Should General Washington have been fired by the Continental Congress with the onset of Winter in 1776?

I suppose you wanted Nathanael Greene to take over?

The backup General is always the most popular guy on the team.

  7. I heard a bunch of the players were cramping up because they weren't hydrating during the week like the coaches said they should. I don't know if this is what happened to Evans but it looked like he had a cramp.

  8. We should blow these guys out of the water. This game should be over by halftime.

Famous last words? God, I hope not.............

A team that is supposed to be going to the conference championship game shouldn't be struggling to beat Northwestern. You have to be ready for each game and dominate certain games and we should dominate this game.

  9. We just see it differently then. I love energy and emotion. I loved the hit. But a full five seconds after the play is over, he sees the guy completely without motion, face down... to me, the testosterone wears off and you start to have some human concern for the guy. You're right, he isn't a robot, and that's exactly why I would expect a human reaction to another human potentially seriously hurt.

So nobody should ever celebrate, ever, because on every single play someone could be potentially seriously hurt. That's what you're saying. The player should make the big hit, but stop and see whether the opponent laying on the ground is OK before celebrating every time, and if they don't, they're showing an inhuman reaction. After we sacked Cousins those several times, we should have gotten up, checked his health, and then celebrated.

That is so wholly unrealistic. When do you ever see this happen?

Watch Lawrence Taylor's reaction after Theisman's leg is snapped in two. It's less than celebratory. LT invented high energy play.

What is your point about this?

The spartan player walked off the field under his own power.

    This hit ended Thisman's career.

    These are not the same.

  10. Obviously I'm not stomping my feet and throwing a temper tantrum like a child. It's a message board. Things like this are posted all the time. Taylor did something stupid and unnecessary, which in turn made me even more frustrated with him. I have never been a big Martinez fan, so when he does something like this, yes, I get upset.

On a side note, it definitely shows maturity when you call out someone you don't even know and call them a 3 year old. Not to mention including a suitable picture to further your irrelevant point. Good one, bro.

Now my impression of you is so different. It went from the other picture to

First impressions aren't always the right impressions. We've all learned something today.

  11. Ugh...

Taylor speaks for 3 minutes on average during each press conference and he manages to sputter out this garbage. Jesus I am getting sick of this kid. He needs to know, as the leader of a football team, what things to say to the media, and what things to keep between his ears. I hate the fact that he can never put together a coherent sentence when he speaks to the media, and when he finally does, it's about how the opposition didn't actually play as well as everyone thinks. Carnes needs to improve ASAP.

I picture you stomping around like a three year old throwing a temper tantrum as you write this. Did you stomp your feet and say I'm really mad! ARRRRR!

  12. You give out the Blackshirts when that defense takes the field, you throw the bones, and get shivers up your back because you know what kind of force they are. Not when you throw the bones and get sick to your stomach wondering how many yards the other team will gain per snap.

    IMO

Could all of you passing Blackshirts experts please upload videos of yourselves demonstrating the perfect footwork and throwing motion required to hit our WR's right in the hands, just to have them drop it defensive techniques?

    Thanks in advance

    See what I did there?

Why do you say people can't complain about the quarterback unless they can throw a perfect pass, but then you complain about the defense? It's a message board. People get to talk about the quarterback without being able to play the position. Right?

  13. Fair enough. Have we improved from the beginning of the season? I do not think so. Better in some areas, the same in most, worse in some areas. And... NU has not played more than 2 -2.5 quarters in any game this season... sleep-walking through 1.5-2 quarters of each game. I see no improved intensity. No improved assignment football. No better tackling. No better ability to shed blocks. Better in terms of lesser penalties. Better in terms of play calling on O. Better in terms of fumbles and drops (but regarding dropped passes maybe not much better). Worse in terms of pressure on the QB. The various other elements of the teams performance will be a further smattering of some better, most about the same, some worse.

So... at best, NU is stagnant this season... neither improving nor getting worse. Relative to last year, NU is worse.

I notice a lot of your posting is kind of debbie downer. What do you like about this team? Do you think it can get better? Are we going to lose most of the rest of our games?
