I'd agree. The Hawaii kid isn't a given, we might just chase another OLB and take 3 and 3.

He's versatile enough that he can go outside if needed. Think its Wynden and an OLB depending on what happens with Payton.

Also it should be noted, his lone CB before Wiltfong's, was a CB to MSU by a MSU insider. He's now switched it to Nebraska with a 8/10 level.

LB numbers/positions about to get interesting, if we hold onto Payton.

We won't turn down the Hawaii kid, but we aren't taking 4 ILB and 2 OLB. Have to take 3 OLB.

Does Kpai or Gbayor slide to OLB?

You have to think one of them will. My guess is Kpai.

  3. Frost and Co would've definitely taken AD if he wanted N, considering his natural talent that is an hour from campus. That said, there's no shame in admitting we lost out on him, especially when it has been suggested he wanted out of Nebraska. Not sure how true it is but I saw it mentioned that his dad was anti-Nebraska and steered him away from Lincoln. That said, considering the S&C he needs to have to be a legit D1 contributor, he wouldn't have gotten the early PT he seeks if he chose NU, then again if he did have the size and strength needed, those LSU/OSU offers would've been commitable, not to slight him. Florida probably offers too and he's gone anyway.

I dont necessarily view a Frost class ranked #25 the same as a #25 Riley class because I put more value in the RBs, LBs, Secondary, lines, TEs etc and less in the WRs and Qbs which Riley seemed to score higher in his classes.

Frost has better RBs, O linemen, LBs, safeties and corners especially.  I see more toughness and athletic hitters so I will take Frost guys, rated as a group, over Riley.  Bo got some good players in these spots but fell short in some spots.   Bo put some good guys on ghe field, but not enough really.  Frost is finding bodies enough to build a two deep so I want to see if he has a top twenty caliber squad. Young, physical, aggressive, tough, and mentally focused.  We may not be 4-5 star studded but I see a bunch of 3.5 - 4 star studs.

Agree. I feel like Frost's classes have been more balanced, filling needs. Riley's classes while being in that top 25 range had holes. Bo often didn't fill his classes and it made every miss amplified.

Wisconsin’s staff walked into a program that has had a good culture building for a long time. Iowa’s staff took years to build that culture.

I’m not concerned about the long term culture with this staff.

Nether am I. Both have at least 20 years of stability that nearly no other program in the conference has, except maybe NW; 30 in Wisconsin's case. Its honestly, to me, why they've been successful or have seen higher floors than everyone else.

This class may be in the 40 range ranking. I have no problem offering a lower ranked in state guy but to say the DB recruiting this year has been pretty mediocre is nice. I realize we have been impacted hard but sheesh.

This class will be an outlier going forward, for specific reasons out of the program's control. I do like this offer. He won't be counted on to contribute immediately and might even find his way moving down a level depending on his physical progression.

so lets put in the second string that was lower on the chart then barry - lol.

    How does that fix anything?

Who said anything about using a LB? Specifically for Purdue and how they play.

At any rate, the point you were making should be less of an issue this year in theory. It seemed like last season, Miller and Honas didn't handle the intermediate stuff well at all.

While it makes you wonder, I do think the Big Ten schedule makers didn't want to make a big fuss by adding teams that could rock the boat. That said even though Wisconsin starts playing OSU in '22 for the  next 6 years, they only see one other top east team in '24. Can't see '25 and '26  schedules yet so it could happen then but the Big Ten continues to take it easy on the Badgers.

Minn is gonna take a massive step back talent wise. Loses top 2 WR, 2/3 best RBs, & Winfield.

They lose their top 3 leaders in tackles, their INT leader, 3 starting DL and 70% of their receptions. Have a very hard time seeing them only having 2 conference losses like last year. While Fleck did was commendable, Kill laid the ground work with many of those contributors last year.

Holy f#&% sticks, they put "Big Ten West Co-Champs" on it:

    I was gonna posting that!

I know we've seen some very low points here, especially in the Big Ten, but I could never see us claiming a Co-Divisional championship. We'd claim a division championship but I feel we would only revel in it for a split second. I feel other schools make a big deal of success in the west, which I understand to a point, but the focus should be beating the teams in the East eventually imo. In Minnesota's case, guess you gotta start somewhere. Nice season they had though.

Also, Buford routinely cranks out Power 5 talent.  Last year they had three Power 5 signees including two defensive backs.  Two years ago they had seven including two four-stars.  The year before that they had four including a four-star.

Word is he hasn't played as much because of the guys mentioned above.  So that probably has an effect as well.

Yep. Big time program down here. Have been producing D1 athletes for well over a decade.

So far they have done a great job of that, which is encouraging. It's been a break even due to the turnover, hopefully as the program stabilizes it becomes an advantage.

I really think it will. In reality, this program has been unstable since, "If they wanna fire me then fire me." Maybe even a little before that.

I respect your opinion and you could be right. But also typically speaking, the lower level prospects are more likely to be "dead weight" for 4-5yrs never contributing....which is just as damaging.

To that point, unlike LSU's D Coordinator and his staff, I feel this staff will over recruit its roster. Which will force those that are dead weight to move on. Whereas BP allowed kids that didn't contribute stay on scholarship. He also routinely did not fill his classes. This staff is almost always going to take its maximum scholarship allotment every cycle(+3 included).
