Some people think that Helfrich is a sure deal.  This writer and others have speculated that Helfrich it the future OC as he is trusted by Frost, shares the same vision of what the O should look like and would be the person SF would be the most comfortable handing the play calling duties to.

We shall see.  I'm not in that camp - doing the same old same old won't bring new results.

I really hope his speculative guess is wrong. Another friend hire would be a major let down.

Thinking it will be Jeff Libby from Ole miss. They'll pay him more and he'll get playcalling responsibilities.

No inside info just a gut reaction.

He's already making 1.2 million at Ole Miss, so play calling duties would have to be the selling point.

Guys who are listed as juniors that they should push out the door:

Honas (a Sr, but no need for him to be taking a scholly anymore)

    A Martinez

    C Tannor

    D Thomas

    P Payne

    EMauga-Clements

    M Sichterman

    C Walker

    J Riley

    T Hixon

    B Bando

D Thomas has been super effective in the rotation this year. I get that P Payne and C Tannor leave a lot to be desired in terms of a pass rush, but they have been effective enough and should come back. That said, we definitely should find some pass rushers in the portal.

The absolute lack of offensive identity is something that weighs heavy on me on why we should move on. I never expected that. We were to put up points and lose some shootouts. The lack of discipline and player development on the offensive side is the dagger. That was not to happen whatsoever and it has. I was willing to give it a shot and it has just flopped. We need to run the ball and play intimidating defense. The complimentary skill players are then brought in to go from good to great. We built this thing backyards and it painfully shows.

Look how well Wandale is being utilized (good for him, he made the right call leaving) and all we could do was run him up the middle 20 times a game, hang him out to dry over the middle, and throw bubble screens for negative yards.

  5. I’m really struggling with this argument of staying with Frost unless we have a proven guy. It’s the equivalent of advocating someone stay in a bad relationship with their high school sweetheart because the history justifies the past 4 years. Frost is great guy, but a poor football coach. I don’t need another year of this to know a coach with any competency gets us to 6 wins this year.

Why is anyone still trying to defend the worst NU head coach in all of our lifetimes?

Sunken cost fallacy, trauma bond, and the false narrative if he can’t do it, no one can.

Honestly does anyone have legit high expectations for transfers? Seems like a very small percentage go to a new school and really produce.  I suspect this kid would come in and still be buried on the depth chart here as well.

Our offense is relying a bunch of transfers to be contributing this year on the 2 deep(Manning, Martin, Stepp, Toure, Nouili, Ezra Miller, Culp, etc). I think it’s the new normal in CFB.

What would be best for everyone is for Martinez to have a strong season and try to make an NFL roster the following season. Then #10 takes over, IMO.

A dream scenario would be a Zach Wilson like jump or even a return to freshman year production.

I am honestly stumped on how Wandale thinks he can be best utilized. He describes himself as a swiss army all purpose type of player and Frost went out of his way to get Wandale the ball in a multitude of ways. My hope is that removing Wandale could somehow cause us to spread it around in our attack. I know Frost is thought of as a offensive guru and I am hoping our OL can make him one again.

He is friends with Rondale Moore and given their similar size and build, I think he sees himself with that type of receiving production. Which he didn't get the ball consistently enough from our QBs.
