Would not be surprised if Brent Vigen (Montana State HC) or John Stiegelmeyer (S Dakota St) is not among the final candidates.

Or Bob Chesney (Holy Cross)... Chesney has posted a winning conference record in each of his 12 seasons as a collegiate head coach with an overall career mark of 92-41 over 12 years.

Under Chesney’s guidance, Holy Cross has won three straight Patriot League championships and produced 53 all-conference selections, in addition to earning numerous national and academic honors.

Trev Alberts + Go big red... :hmmph  (I can almost taste the press conference)

    Per who?

I don’t think that’s rumor. Trev didn’t like Peed running the old NIL, as it was poorly ran. But, Peed had the $ so he held a lot of power. Finally, Trev got the backing of Omaha area and other boosters and was able to pull a power play on Peed. That’s why the new NIL out of Omaha was started and the one ran by Davison is basically Peed.

The Peeds are funding the new one: 1890

DeBoar COULD end up being a really good coach and so far that looks to generally be the case.  However, I would have a lot of concern that his success might not translate to big boy football.  Winning in NAIA, MWC and PAC 12 aren't exactly screaming accomplishments.  B1G and SEC are a whole different ball game.

He was the OC at Indiana in 2019 when they had the 3rd best offense in the Big 10. I think he's a long shot, but would be a solid get.

We've primarily been in Nickel as the base defense this year.  That's why Gifford has gotten so many snaps.  Kolarevic played some snaps at that spot against NW, but moved back to MLB when Henrich was out against ND and GSU.

Right, but to clarify my question. Do we simply not have DBs practicing in a nickel package? The staff is asking Gifford to be Jojo when he clearly is not.

  5. I am wondering if we have played any nickel or dime coverage this year? Are the only options we have at nickel being Gifford, Wright, and Kolarevic? Looking at the PFF grades/snaps vs. GSU, Gifford played the majority of them and clearly is a liability on slot WRs. Surely we have DBs practicing a traditional nickel package?

If kolaravic is playing nickle the defense is in big trouble

I can't wrap my brain around that either.  But that's where they had him this spring.  :dunno

It's my understanding that Jojo played that role because he was talented enough to be able to cover a slot WR and also play the run. I believe the staff said replacing him might involve playing more nickle with a DB and Kolaravic when teams are in the I or pro set looks.  Javin Wright is also a player to watch now that he is cleared, he is supposed to fit that spot well.

Rumors swirling from guys on the radio that we have added/adding another skill position guy. hot names include Marcus Washington from Texas & Deion Smith from LSU.

    Jordan Addison confirmed! :koolaid2:

Could be somebody retiring from football. At least I would think so given what I’ve seen. Too much portal activity going on.

Also NIL can fund tuition so extra guys could "walk on" but take NIL money.

Fair to say an even swap for an oft- injured, Casey Rogers?

Production wise, Drew has better stats. Body wise Casey is 6'4 300 vs. Drew at 6'2 280. Drew has been more durable though, so assuming he stays healthy, I think it's equal if not greater.

I'm not saying walk-ons would be denied NIL rights, but can we pull scholarships to walk-ons once they have been given them. I thought I read somewhere that once your given a B10 scholarship it can't be taken away.

The scholarships for athletes recruited are guaranteed per the ruled of the Big 10. Walk ons can be given semester scholarships that are renewed each semester at the team's discretion.

Yeah just saw its supposedly a done deal with a "massive" NIL deal.

I seriously doubt we would have any shot, but ESPN says it's about professional development and rooted in having a new OC, QB, and WR coach. So maybe!
