With his athletic/size profile, that was a role I would have had to at least explore as a coach. He was never going to be an on field asset at OLB or as a base 3-4 DE.
He was a liability and frankly not a P5 player.

If this is indeed true I will be very very happy and my fears from the last few days will be subsided for now. The next step for us in NIL will be to translate it to the HS ranks but this seems to be an all hands on def k situation and I love it
I'm not so sure. To me NIL in the portal is like the free agency of proven players. Where as dropping dumb money on unproven high school recruits is the NFL Draft before they had capped contracts for rookies.

Got it. Rivals did not have him counted towards the 85 they had us at, so we are currently at 83 according to them.

Chris Walker was a walk on I believe anyways.

Unless players are moving on via leaving football, I am shocked we haven't seen any portal additions being at 85 and trying to find help in the portal.

Glad he made the most of his reps when he was there...
Since UF opened spring camp March 15, Goods was seen leaving spring practice early on multiple occasions, for reasons unknown.
Perhaps a fresh start will do him some good. He fills a big hole for us and seems like he has a lot of upside.

His size concerns me — 280. Teams such as Wisconsin and Iowa will feast on that.
We wouldn't want him at NT, but he would be effective in the 4-3 looks.

Is this true? If so, the next two weeks are going to be very interesting.
I thought that was an SEC rule only?
Edit: Nope, it's an NCAA rule.

Mathis visited Texas this weekend. I'd forgotten that Gary Patterson is now an analyst for them.
I’ve also heard he’s going again for the Spring Game

Well let’s go get those top OL targets that are just sitting in the magical portal! I mean, we NEED 3 top lineman, they must be there ready to come to Nebraska…go pick them up! Alabama did
Interior of the OL is in good shape. The two starters at OT probably weren't on the field during the Spring Game, but adding one more OT for depth could be helpful.

Manning, Brown and Martin are solid. Palmer may be solid-to-good.
Looks like we're in good hands. But we need depth.
There's been a lot of praise for Belt as well. Hopefully Isiah can get healthy and give us some help too.

I obviously want to land Mathis but what does that do for this defense when our best 2 players seem to be OLBs at this point? If we are primarily in a 3-4 I'm not sure he is big enough to start on the DL. Almost would have to move Nelson to DE imo
I'll also say again we have more injured players than other other B10 team until someone proves me wrong.
Ochaun Mathis is 6'5 257, so he can play DE. Nelson is 6'3 245. That said, we definitely need some thick dudes from the portal for the interior.

Hardy, Neville, Malcolm, Lynn, Wilderman, Conn, Nash, Tyreke, Mauga Clements, Stepp, Piper, Ezra Miller, and Banks need to go.
Bro, Nash will likely be starting/rotating. Piper, Banks, and Miller are all on the 2 deep right now.

Mckewon was on Sharp and Benning and stated a number of interesting things, but as it relates to this thread that the staff is actively looking for dudes in the portal at DL. In addition to the TCU guy we are waiting on I found Chins was following these guys:
Marquis Robinson DT Auburn
Devin Drew DE/OBL Ttech
Jordan Forklift Redmond NT VA
Nelson Mbanasor DT Ttech

I think we spent all our NIL money on Mathis... Reports are saying this fellow is fetching 100k offers.
