Aren’t we at 67 guys on scholarship , plus 14 signees and 4 transfers? Plus Honas if he comes back/gets waiver. So 86 at most?

They have us at 89, but that includes Cerni who one has to assume will be encouraged to move on. Wyatt Liewer might be one of the walk ons that got awarded a semester only scholarship and some of the super seniors might not be returning. I’m guessing there will be some more attrition as well.

I don't give a s#!t if Jesus Smothers comes into play as long as we f#&%ing win.  That's about all i give a s#!t about these days regarding Nebraska football.  Its clear that the Nebraska football staff cant recruit good qbs and i think its apparent that anyone who we target cant play the correct style of football at Nebraska.  And lord knows know one around here knows what the f#&% there talking about regarding quarterbacks.  So maybe we just try to coax a good 5 star qb with food and women.  And just tell them to throw the football at a open receiver and we should be golden.

I'll Venmo you $25 right now to pay for some brisket that you can deliver to Casey Thompson, being you live in Texas and all.

He's not mobile. So that will help opposing DC's.  IIRC, USC's starter was a grad transfer who previously played QB before becoming a grad assistant on staff.  USC had no QB so he was asked to play....Again, stick with our QB's.  Until the OL gets up to speed, mobility will help us tremendously. It seems like we are now really reaching for some "quality" QB's.  I would not be surprised if ours enter the portal.  Looking at a guy like Brown, says the staff does not think our 2022 QB is on the roster.

Brown could have simply heard some feelers from recruiting staff. If he doesn't have an offer, it's hard to get any idea where he would be on the board.

I wouldn't hate bringing in Thompson from UT. He had a 3 game stretch all against top 15 teams, where he threw for 8 TDs 3 INT and averaged 290 yards. Seems like everyone at UT praises him as a person. It was also his first year starting and sounds like he was dealing with a hand injury. Don't see why anyone would be against bringing in a guy who held his own in big time games, and would be a positive influence in the locker room.

I think he is our main target at this point.

Seems like a body and a fill-in for a year to me.  By "huge get" you mean what?  Is this kid "special" in his ability or just a "piece" that will interchange with what we've had?

    No clue here.

He’s an upperclassman with lots of P5 experience at a spot we desperately need help/competition at.

The only former walk-ons on the 89 (by my eye) are Yant, Nouili, Hixon, Riemer, and Jackson.  All of those guys but one started at least one game this past season.  I don't see pulling a scholarship from guys who are starters.

Well s#!t, there goes that part of my theory. Attrition and processing it is!

  7. There was definetly and effort to recruit him. He just wasn't going to get a P5 offer from anyone.

“I would say Nebraska, Northern Illinois and North Dakota State have talked to me the most,” Hubert said. “I’ve talked to Kenny Wilhite and (Nebraska outside linebackers coach) Mike Dawson about once a week, and (Nebraska inside linebackers coach) Coach Ruud a couple times."

Soccer GFs taketh away, Soccer GFs taketh away. The QB story of the offseason.

I'd say Adrian being nudged out the door had more to do with it. It would be very Frost like to nudge the best QB on the roster out the door and swing and miss in the portal.

Maybe it was Chin, but saw that Daniels and Thomas being gone might not be a done deal.  Anyone else hearing/seing anything?

Either one coming back would be very helpful. I was confused why we pulled the offer from the JUCO NT who was going to visit last week..

Well, majority of Husker fans and former players would agree on the option and run the damned ball.  But Scott Frost hates it - always has.  He has been Frosty the throw man all his life.  He will ‘live by the pass; die by the pass’ forever, or at least until 12-1-22.

I am disappointed but not surprised by Frost and the new Whippey O.  But I expect I will dislike it less than the nameless Frosty Spread.
I am forever hopeful (hope is all we got now) that Husker Power will return in all its smash mouth glory and pride.

GBR!   Need a QB to appear. Rub that magic football and poof!   He will appear!
