Eric the Red
Among the players NU has coming in as of now Nyan Boateng from Brooklyn, NY. He is a wide receiver. USC, Penn State, Maryland among others have all offered. Montario Hardesty from North Carolina is an all purpose back. Again the big boys are after him. Florida St., V. Tech, Virginia, Tenn. This will be Hardesty's first visit to any school. I have always thought that's a plus. As of now that's all i HAVE, but it appears with the extra week off right now, the coaches are trying very hard to get more recruits in. Kind of like the first week against WIU. They want to get that number up to 5 or 6 or 7. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Just read an article that Callahan loves the idea of a night game for KU. He said about 6-8 recruits are going to be visiting. The late start allows the recruits to get in even though they havebeen delayed, as well as soak up all he atmosphere Lincoln has to offer. Makes sense Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
Callahan spoke this Friday about recruiting and left this comment. Several NU assistant coaches were on the road this week, visiting about 50 prospects, Callahan said, as Nebraska continued to practice before the first open date on its schedule. Eight recruits are scheduled to visit Memorial Stadium next week on official visits to watch the Huskers host Kansas. That's a lot of kids and the good news is, he gets all day with them because it's a night game. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Terrence Taylor of Michigan has committed to Michigan and will most likely not visit Nebraska next week. This is why Callahan is trying to bring as many recruits as early as possible. This is believed to be Taylor's first visit. More like a kick in the nuts. Taylor was the number 7 DT in the country. Four star by rivals. Quote Link to comment
Benard
LEon JACkson.... good read here! Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Whole family is pumped about going. That's such a huge part to the process. I think Callahan does a great job with getting the parents on board. He loves Nebraska since he was younger too. I wonder if he went to the Husker game up there in 1997. When Frost ran all over Washington. Quote Link to comment
Benard
Nicl Harris has moved his visit up & is now going to be here this weekend Quote Link to comment
Terrific Tom
NU Coach Bill Callahan said he considers it a realistic goal for the Huskers to have 15 commitments by the end of October. They currently have 10. Other than Congdon, expected visitors this week include three-star (as rated by rivals100.com) running back Edward Britton of El Paso, Texas, three-star running back Montario Hardesty of New Bern, N.C., three-star receiver Broderick Hunter of Humble, Texas, four-star defensive back Leon Jackson of Pasco, Wash., four-star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh of Portland, Ore., and four-star receiver Nyan Boateng of Brooklyn, N.Y. Blackshirt
Appears Cally and co are employing a different strategy than many other schools, and certainly the "old regime". More aggressive, get to em first type of mentality. Why not. NU NOTES: Recruits will get to see game-day atmosphere Nebraska will have seven recruits making official campus visits this weekend, the beginning of a crucial recruiting period for the Huskers. Nebraska has thus far picked up 10 verbal commitments for its class of 2005, and the Huskers' goal is to reach 15 by the end of October. "From what I hear and understand, it could be possible," Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan said. "And if we don't reach 15, we just keep pounding the rock and try to get some more guys." Callahan said it's important that out-of-state players experience Lincoln on game days. "I like to have players see Lincoln at its best and see Memorial Stadium, instead of trying to envision it in December and January," Callahan said. "We really want these kids to come in and enjoy the festivities and the atmosphere and the pageantry of college football." Compared to most schools, NU is bringing prospects to campus early in the recruiting process. Consequently, many recruits will have multiple visits left to take after coming to Lincoln. "We're taking our shots, and I think the approach has been very aggressive in that respect," Callahan said. "It's already been successful with 10 commitments and possibly some more here this weekend." Callahan noted that the trend in college football is for recruits to make oral commitments early. "A lot of players out there want to get that decision made so they can move on in their own senior year," he said. http://journalstar.com/articles/2004/09/30...b9010657670.txt Quote Link to comment
