slacker
Irregular News for 01.09.07 Minnesota -- Crowds in Minnesota are paying $10 per cup for coffee made from beans digested by Indonesian cats and then gathered from their feces, according to a Local 6 News report. An 8-ounce cup of Kopi Luwak coffee is for sale at Jim Cone's "Coffee and Tea Limited" store in Minneapolis. The Civet cats eat the coffee, digest it and then the makers harvest the remnants from their excrement. "It's a unique product," roastmaster Jim Cone said. "You have to have an army of Civet cats to pick this stuff and process it." "I'm really interested because of the way that it's processed," coffee lover Bonnie Riley said. Some drinkers admit the process may be gross, but say the coffee is great. "It is very rich and soft," Kopi Luwak drinker Alex Danzberger said. "There's definitely a different flavor to it and you can't quite describe what it is. I hate to think what it is but it is very good." Civets also emit a substance that is sometimes used in perfumes. Kopi Luwak isn't offered at major chains like Starbucks. One-pound bags of the coffee sell for $420. source Quote Link to comment
