Eric the Red
Player: Martellus Bennett Hometown: Alief, TX Position: TE Height: 6’7” Weight: 237 40 time: 4.8 Visit Date: 10/29/04 Scholarships offered: Over 20 including: Arizona, Florida, LSU, Miami (Fl), Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska Favorites: Texas, Miami Rankings/Stars: Rivals: #1/***** Insiders: #30/***** Assessing the talent: Very tall with a huge wingspan. Wants to play both football and hoops in college. This kid was labeled for months now as a University of Miami commit. This has changed according to a reason article in Rivals. On top of that Nebraska has scored a visit with the man. Just a phenomenal athlete. Any team would love him. Check out these numbers according to Insiders: He carries a 3.4 GPA and bench presses 320, squats 515 and has a 39-inch vertical jump. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20% Obviously he’s unpredictable. He had been listed for months as being committed to Miami. Now all of a sudden he is acting as if nothing has happened. As for his visit to NU, he may need to change it because he thinks he has a game. If so, will he then reschedule? ……….Who the hell knows. More to come here. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
Wow, if we can sell him on the opportunity to play both football and basketball, that would be huge. Both teams could use a guy with his size on their respective teams. Quote Link to comment
Redout
What are the odds of him playing both though?? Many guys come in thinknig they can, but never follow through on it. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Big Red Report.com says Bennett would like to visit along with Brandon LaFell. They are friends and were thinking of going to school together. Martellus has a younger brother who played at La Tech last year and was granted his release, so he might be something the Huskers are going to look into also. Maybe a package deal of sorts. The Husker basketball team has also began recruiting Martellus AGAIN. They did until he made a commitment Miami, since then it's now considered "soft commit" and the Huskers basketball coaches are on his trail. Quote Link to comment
