maryland husker
I know that people from all across the east and from the Home State are coming to this one since season tickets were so damn cheap! While we are waiting for our tickets to arrive (WF Athletic Dept said they would be mailed in August), it's time to think of hotel reservations. We have a caravan of about 20 from our group going down Friday (red cars/trucks REQUIRED, thank you!), and want to stay somewhere where we can turn the bar red. Kind of like we did at the Panther HQ hotel a couple of years ago at Pitt. So where is everyone staying? Quote Link to comment

I was just on marriot.com and looks like the first 5 hotels closest to Winston Salem are SOLD OUT already. Probably going to have to stay closer to Greensboro (only 25 miles away). But that sounds to me like the BIG RED ARMY is on the march to NC! Quote Link to comment
GR8NUFAN
Went ahead and booked at the Springhill Suites in West Greensboro. Only 25 minutes from Wake Forest Campus and all the parties. About $100/night. Best deal I could find. As stated in prior post, hotels are filling fast. Springhill Suites are very nice hotels - I stay at them for business all the time. They still have rooms available. Here is the link to the hotel's main website. Hope this info helps! http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/gsosh Quote Link to comment

maryland husker
Our group from Maryland have already booked rooms at the Mariott Greensboro Downtown for $110 a night. While 30+ miles from the stadium, the choice of local watering holes to "turn red" on Friday night (and Saturday if we are still up to it) all within 1/2 mile of the hotel was inviting. Here's a list from Google maps... maryland husker
If you are in Greensboro, or want to come to Greensboro, we will be downtown around the Mariott "spreading the red". Feel free to call (301) 606-3332 to hook up and pound a few back Friday night and/or Saturday night (we don't leave until sunday) Quote Link to comment
NC_HUSKERDAD
I live in GSO and recommend staying in any of the motels around Greensboro airport. Most of the motels on the highway 68 / I-40 interchange are fairly reasonable. The local contingent of fans normally meets at JP Looneys on highway 68 in HighPoint. This is actually on the edge of GSO and HighPoint. Go to GSO area and take highway 68 south about 2 miles (go past Wendover) on the left in a shopping center. Downtown GSO can be fun, however JPLooney's is easier to get around if driving. Quote Link to comment
FCB55
No one is staying in Winston-Salem? We were looking for something to do NU-related, too, but having gone to very few away games, I don't know what to look for. Will probably just hang with relatives, if no one has another suggestion. According to my brother, the local press is saying that very few NU fans are showing up. Is that true? We sure had a hell of a time getting tickets, if that's the case. If they still have tickets left, that is Wake Forest's fault. Airline flights and hotels were slim-picken's, so SOMEONE must be coming! Quote Link to comment
PatE
From Nebraska native, now Winston-Salem resident: Friday night (7-10pm) there will be a gallery hop in the Winston-Salem Downtown Arts District, around 6th and Trade Streets, always lots of fun. A couple bands will be playing at the Artists on Liberty Building, 521 Liberty St (free). There are great restaurants, bars and music venues in the area: Restaurants: Sweet Potatoes, Camel City Cafe, Downtown Thai, Fourth Street Filling Station, Chelsee’s Coffee Shop & More, 6th and Vine Wine Bar & Cafe, Foothills Brewing, Mellow Mushroom Pizza, Bistro 420, Cat’s Corner Café, Finnigan’s Wake; Bars and Music Venues: Speak Easy Jazz & Tapas Bar, The Garage, Silver Moon Saloon, The Werehouse, Ziggy’s Tavern (near the stadium)…You don’t need to go to Greensboro to have a good time! The Arts District would be a good place to walk around on Saturday before or after the game too. It’s not far from the stadium (just down University Pkwy/Marshall St. to left on 6th St).
