  1. My stable of girls showing you their butts..... ...and the beast to haul them all around
  2. Congrats to huzkerbob. Despite him picking the NC wrong, neither I nor default could catch him. What does 3rd place pay?
  3. In December 2009 after blanking Arizona in the Holiday Bowl, Coach Bo announced "Nebraska is back!". Since then, we failed against Texas, A&M, and OU in the Big XII championship game, not to mention the debacle in the bowl last year. Now we are in an 'in your face' black and blue conference that plays ball the way Nebraska used to. How many times did I hear Musberger saying how Alvarez fashioned the Wisconsin program after what he experienced under Devaney? I've always considered Wisky a 'twin' program of ours, and that is more evident now that we just watched a mirror image of Husker football 10 years ago and beyond march up and down the field on us. Sorry, Bo, we are not 'back' yet until you can put a team together that can win the big one, a big one, or any big one. And keep the Blackshirts in storage this year....
  4. Got this today in my BTN101 guide from the Alumni Association..... Q: If I live overseas, how can I watch Nebraska games? A: For Nebraska fans living overseas, BTN offers "Big Ten Ticket," which is an international streaming subscription service that includes every BTN football and men's basketball telecast to viewers outside of the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. This year, for the first time, Big Ten Ticket will also include next day, on-demand access to all Big Ten games, including all Big Ten Conference television partners. For more information, go to BigTenTicket.com.
  5. Ya, I gotta vote 'neither'. Toyota Super Red II, baby!
  6. I have been over here in the world's biggest sandbox for almost 4 years now, and this will be my 3rd football season. I haven't missed many games, and this may be a solution for other displaced Husker fans. I have a Slingbox ProHD set up in Maryland at a friend's house. It is connected to his internet system and DirecTV with the ESPN Game Plan package, along with the NFL package. While the Slingbox can be quirky to set up, I haven't had any of the negative setup issues described on their forum or on the amazon.com feedback page. What the Slingbox does is allow you to connect to your satellite/cable system remotely from anywhere in the world via your laptop. You control the TV and DVR with a remote on your screen just like you were sitting in your favorite chair. What the Slingbox DOESN'T do is take care of itself very well, so it requires a babysitter, so to speak. It always needs resetting or to have the power turned back on after an outage or whatever, so it is not a 'set and forget' system. Another drawback is that you can not set up the system the first time from your overseas location. You must install the Slingbox and have it 'mate' with your laptop on the host internet system so that it can set up the unique IP address that allows you and your laptop to access it anywhere. So if the Slingbox goes out, as mine did last summer after a lighting strike near my friend's house and you have to get a new box, you are down until you get back to the States and take the laptop to 'fornicate' with the new Slingbox. For the same reason, another drawback is that the laptop you set up originally with the Sling is the laptop you a stuck with, so unless you haul your desktop or multiple laptops back to the host location, you can only watch on the one laptop you have set up. But with a stout system, good video card and an HDMI cable, you can plug your laptop into almost any larger screen. Right now I am using a Toshiba Qosmio with an Intel I7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce video card, and 4GB of RAM and I can connect the Dell 24" desktop monitor, the LG 37" LCD TV, and the Panasonic 47" plasma to watch games in a larger format (although the plasma has the laptop fans running full out). What do you need? On the host end, you need the Slingbox, a cable/satellite package, and decent internet upload speed. On the remote end, you need a quality laptop, the Sling software to control the box, and internet. The speed of your overseas internet will determine the quality of the picture you get from the Sling. When I first set it up, I was operating at barely dial-up speed, and would have to walk away for a few minutes to let it buffer before I could watch without stops and starts. The picture quality was fair to poor. I have since upgraded to a 3G wireless system and at 300k and over, the stream is live, clear, and almost HD. This pic is from 2009 using the Sling on my old HP laptop and connected via HDMI cable to the desktop's 24" Dell monitor. Cuban cigar and home made brew optional lol
  7. I am relatively new to fantasy football, but have come to love it the past couple of years playing. I was in a league based in Maryland since my first year, but due to some infighting, they dissolved only 1 week before our draft. Looking for another quality league. Any format, but most familiar with PPR and standard scoring. Willing to try auction/keeper league. Since I am overseas, I can only attend a live draft via Skype phone in to a computer, cell, or landline phone. League fees will be paid via Paypal. Let me know if you have a roster spot available. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the info, and the map is a big help. I'll try and find you as I walk from the Super 8 on Cornhusker Hwy to the stadium Saturday afternoon. I had heard rumors of the bl...out, and checked this board to see if it was an organized or unorganized effort. Brought both colors just in case, but I'll be wearing my HuskerBoard RED shirt, for sure! My first home game, Section 6 tickets, and a night game. Does it get any better than this? I flew in last week to D.C. and got the RED car ready for the trip. Currently in K.C. contributing to Harrah's and the Missouri economy . Will make the short trip to Lincoln tomorrow. What have I learned so far? 60% of the people on the highways in this country would DIE driving in Saudi Arabia, flashing of the brights in the left lane will not move anything out of your way, a truck going 61MPH in the left lane to pass another truck going 60MPH in the right is the norm, and Indiana State Police are a-holes. Who actually WRITES a ticket for 8 over the limit??? Amazing! Maybe the RED car is the problem? Or the HUSKERS license plate? Or the RED flag flying? Thought Indiana would be a 'safe' zone. Still have CO to go through AFTER the game! I guess I shoud be thankful that I made it through MO without issues...
  9. The cherry is going to be popped this September when I see my first ever game at Memorial Stadium. Being a 'sandhiller' by birth, we were closer to Boulder than Lincoln, so a trip there every two years was a must. And I've seen games in South Bend, Happy Valley, Pitt, The Meadowlands, San Antonio, La-La Land and Winston-Salem. But never have I experienced the 'home team' atmosphere. That will end this year when I return from the Middle East for vacation in late September. I'm searching out tickets now and would like to know the difference between lettered rows and numbered rows at Memorial. I have the choice between Section 5 Row D or Section 6 row 25. Which is better? No seating chart I've found on line yet has the granularity to show me row numbering assignments. Thanks for any help!
  10. we played Wake in 2005, not 2004, but i like your list. I can play the narcissim game, too, though. Although many are very close to me, I think the important thing to remember is that Husker Nation outside of the home state is national, not just Midwest or West Coast or South. Until PSU in '02, we had not had an East Coast game since the Pigskin Classic in the Meadowlands in 1994 (against WVU). (Caveat: don't tell me about games deep in the bowels of Florida. Miami is just as far for me as Columbia) Since PSU, we have been blessed with Pitt, Wake, and now VaTech (see below about Tennessee). Spread the weath, folks. Let us on the "right" coast show some Husker love. Big 10 - PSU (but I'll wear my body armor next time), Wisconsin, Ohio State Pac 10 - ASU just to shut them up about '96 (if we ever will) SEC - South Carolina to put the beat-down on the Ole Ball Coach (again), and what the hell happened to Tennessee? They were announced as 2010-11 last year! Now we have UDub? I lost an East Coast game? What's the story here? ACC - Maryland (hour drive), Clemson (to shut up MY friends), Duke (tickets a-plenty!), Wake again (loved that place) Big East - WVU (2.5 hour drive), Pitt (farther away, but great people/place) Ind - Navy (1.5 hours and the Pentagon would have easy tix) I'm pissed and would really like to know what you all know about UT dropping off the 2010-11 schedule after they were announced. I remember the announcement came along with the announcement of the UCLA contract. So VaTech in '09 and no more "Husker East"?
  11. Everyone knows that very few head coaches do this themselves, so I guess Watson or someone else voted for the university, but it just irritates me to see Callahan's name still associated with us (kind of like when the St. Louis Rams introduce Richie Incognito, and it has him listed as "University of Nebraska") BTW, I noticed he/whomever didn't put LSU at the top, or even 2nd - OU is there
  12. i missed it too, but not on purpose. all of a sudden my severe weather/nuclear attack warning siren went off, as well as the EBS on TV. The Weather Channel reported that it seems the entire state of Nebraska had all of a sudden been covered in a white, sticky substance . jack bauer and chuck norris were en route to restore order, but were called off by a guy named Bo who said he had that for action. Enjoy your Bogasm. I hope you all are right about him...
  13. I look at that as just a coincidence. Does the fact that the source organization would be the Raiders mean you wouldn't take Tom Rathman?
  14. I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, but I really want to know the answer (and evidently the search function has been disabled on this board, which may contain a previous post that answers it) Granted, I've been out of state for over 30 years now, but I check the LJS and OWH for Husker news all the time, and try to read as much as I can on here - especially the speculation about any replacement for BC. Is there some kind of past history I'm not aware of? I've talked in depth to John O'Leary (current long snapper T.J.'s dad), former I-Back, who was recruited by Monte out of a Catholic school in New York, who says that Monte and/or Lane would be a great fit for our school. I've seen the "I would have taken it if they asked me" quote from Monte after the last coaching search we did. So why not Monte? Too old? Why not Lane? Too pro? (I hate to make this comparison, but I'm sure by now Lane is as sick of Oakland Al as Callahan was. Al is the Steinbrenner of pro football, kind of like we have to deal with Dan Snyder out here in Redskinsland) Why not Monte as HC with Lane as a coordinator groomed to take over? Turnout gear at the ready, SCBA donned, let the flames begin....
  15. Nice post, but I have a major problem with one of the facts, and a commentary on another... Incorrect fact: Wake LOST the Orange Bowl last year to Louisville, and went in as the ACC Champion ranked 18th - a situation that someone like Hawaii would love to see this year (like if UConn beats WVU for the Big East Title). The high point of their season was shutting out Bobby Bowden at home for the first time ever. Grobe's team has as many as 20 5th year seniors and 4th year juniors on the two-deep this year, and they didn't even come close to the level of accomplishment they did last year. How do you not dominate with that level of talent? My opinion: Auburn's defense was good in 2006, but we won the game last year in every category except the scoreboard. That says a lot for Zac and last year's squad, but...
  16. Hmmm... A CU fan from 'Bama on a Husker board. Is this 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, or what?
  17. Interesting that two of those three have, or are about to, come back and bite him in the ass
  18. Come talk to me about Paul Johnson when he starts sniffing at the BCS at Navy. that will happen about the same time I figure out how to turn crap into gold(since that would be as easy to do) there isnt a coach in the world that could get them into the BCS without breaking serious rules I can name that tune! The day that a Staubach-caliber QB wants to be a Naval Officer when he grows up, instead of hearing the cha-ching of the $NFL$ from the time he's on the frosh team in HS. Those were the days when the service academies could field a team at least equal in size and ability than the "majors" like OU and ND (back in the day), and could win or come close to championships with one true star. Come on, get real. PJ has done an outstanding job with the hand that he was dealt, and there isn't any reason to believe he wouldn't be able to raise his coaching to the level of the athletes that we have.
  19. if the big 12 gets 2 bcs, best case scenario is alamo The Alamo is too ambitious. They are locked into the conference #4/#5 team, and we aren't even close. Let's look at who is bowl eligible in the Big XII, and ahead of us in the pecking order - OU, KU, Mizzou, Texas, Tech, OSU (by virtue of tie-breaker), and A&M (by virtue of tie-breaker). That's 7, so at best we are 8th in the conference. KSU won't go even if they beat Fresno St, because that is the one bowl eligible team that we hold a tie-breaker over. If KU beats Mizzou, then loses to OU/Texas in the championship game, there is a good chance the conference will get their 2nd BCS team with a one-loss KU. This is possible even if Mizzou beats KU, and then loses to the south team. It depends on how far KU falls in the polls after the loss. It is doubtful that if KU wins out that there will be a 2nd BCS berth from the Big XII because that will result in, at best, 2 two-loss teams right behind them in the conference standings. With a single BCS team from the conference, we could be left out, depending on what the Gator Bowl does. They have the option of taking the conference #4 team this year, which could be lucrative to them if it is a good travelling team like Texas or OU, or if Daniels is favored to get the Heisman. I think they will look elsewhere if it is Oklahoma State. There are 7 slots (including the BCS) for Big XII teams. There are two variables here - whether the conference gets two BCS slots or one, and whether the Gator Bowl exercises their option on the conference. Here's the way it looks right now (subject to change without notice the way this football season is going).... BCS (conference #1) OU/Texas or KU/Mizzou Possible BCS At-Large bid - KU Cotton (conference #2) OU/Texas/Mizzou - whoever doesn't win the conference/gets the at-large BCS Holiday (conference #3) OU/Texas/Mizzou Gator (option to take the #4 team) OU/Texas/Mizzou with one BCS slot, OSU (they hold the tie-breaker over Tech to move up in the pecking order) with two Alamo (#4/#5) OU/Texas/Mizzou with one BCS slot and no Gator, OSU with one BCS slot and the Gator takes a team ahead of them, Tech with two BCS slots the Gator taking OSU Insight (#6) OSU with one BCS slot and no Gator, Tech with one BCS slots and OSU going to a higher bowl, A&M with two BCS slots and the Gator taking a team from the conference. Independence (#7) Tech with one BCS slot and no Gator pick, A&M if we only have one BCS slot but the Gator Bowl picks from the conference, the Huskers if the BCS takes two and the Gator takes one Texas (#8) A&M in the worst case scenario (one BCS slot and the Gator picks elsewhere), and we are left out. The Huskers if either the BCS takes two from the conference, or the Gator bowl takes one If we beat CU, there will be at least 8 bowl eligible teams, 9 if KSU wins. There are contracts for 6 slots excluding the BCS. Simple math indicates that if we are 8th best in the conference and only 7 slots are available, our season may be over. There is, however, one other wild card.... Sun (#?) this bowl also has the option to pick from the Big XII. They may chose us if we are left out of the regular tie-ins, or might go with KSU The bottom line is that we need to be rooting for a second BCS bid or the Gator to take one of the teams ahead of us out of the picture....
  20. You're exactly right, DC (BTW, are you in the nation's capital, or does the DC stand for something else?) There must be 15 different "which bowl do we go to/do you want to go to a bowl" threads on this board, it must drive the mods nuts. But I posted this a while back (in yet another bowl thread), and it is still valid today, except for the part about Oregon being in the NC hunt. The below makes the assumption that KSU doesn't win another game to become bowl eligible, we beat CU, and OSU wins one more to join the 6-win list...... The conference is almost assured of getting an at-large BCS bid, so remove OU (NC game - they will pick OU over a 12-1 Oregon) and Mizzou/KU. The pecking order for Big XII tie-ins - other than BCS - is Cotton (conference #2) Mizzou/KU - whoever doesn't get the at-large BCS Holiday (conference #3) Texas Gator (option to take the #4 team) OSU Alamo (#4/#5) OSU if the Gator doesn't take the #4, Tech if they do Insight (#6) Tech if the Gator doesn't pick, A&M if they do (A&M has the tie-breaker over us amongst 3-5 conference teams) Independence (#7) A&M if the Gator doesn't pick from our conference - us if they do Texas (#8) us if the Gator doesn't take OSU, otherwise this could be left open because if we become bowl eligible, that means that CU isn't, and KSU won't win another game this year, so they are out. With 8 bowl eligible teams, and the BCS taking two, that leaves 6 to fill 7 tie-ins Sun (#?) this bowl also has the option to pick from the Big XII - doubtful since we will either fill our max or leave one empty
  21. You're still hanging around this board, eh? And I see we've been a busy little boy, well on our way to 100 posts. Why? Oh, that's right. It kills time between your diaper wearing/clothes pins on the nipples sessions with Miss Nastylicious. Abuse-R-Us
  22. She's very good with miss-direction plays. ...or the blind sweep
  23. Actually, I was impressed by the number of clips and amount of time they spent on our win both during the halftime shows early Saturday, and on College Football Final later that night. Super Joe even got a helmet sticker from Rece (I think our helmet and Mark "Mary" are like the magnets we used to play with in science class trying to get them to touch)
  24. yes, you do. Wake Forest and Nevada, both with winning records. And no, if we beat CU, we will NOT be next to last in the north. ISU will have a worse record, and we will be tied with CU and KSU, with the tie-breaker over both of them. That makes us 3rd behind KU & Mizzou
