How to beat USC

Recommended Posts

If it you look at their games last year against Oregon State and UCLA, the opposing offenses tried to hold on to the ball and take control of the game (so Callahan had the right idea last year with trying the run the ball, unfortunately it wasn't mastered yet). So if we have more time of possesion that will help.

Another big aspect of the game is the turnover department. Nebraska has to be +1 of +2 in the turnover battle to have a significant chance to win. Obviously OSU and UCLA caused many turnovers on d to give them a chance.

As long as we get better pressure on Booty than we did last year we can rattle him and force him to make bad decisions. :restore

I agree, forcing turnovers and mistakes by them is our greatest chance to win.

I really think if we hold on to the ball and get a few turn overs the rest will play itself out in our favor.

Remember last year on a missed hand off we fumbled and they got it for an easy score. If I remember correctly the game was still within our reach at that time. Also I remember Zac being blown up, and they took it in for a score, but it didn't count, but still demoralizing.

1. +1 in turnovers, at least.

2. Keep the USC offense off the field. Meaning win the TOP.

3. Play a perfect game on offense. Meaning catch the ball, make your blocks, etc.

4. Have a decent rushing day. Not awesome, but not pitiful. Things like play action don't work well if you can't run the ball.

5. Pressure the QB to take the some of the heat off the defensive backfield

6. Some luck.

Nebraska is going to have to have everything fall into place on Saturday to come out with a victory. They have chance. A better chance than last year IMO but it's still a monumental challenge. Our team is more talented than it was a year ago, but we are still working on closing the gap with a team like USC.
