Going to a playoff system won't solve a thing.People will just gripe about the teams that didn't get in not getting their fair shiot just like the grip about it now.

 

 

The only real solution to this problem is to get rid of the national polls altogether. Just quit taking them or reporting on them. Let the teams win their conferences and let the bowl game be the reward. When the Big 10 and Pac 10 champions went to the Rose Bowl every year that was like a SuperBowl to them. No reason it couldn't be again. You could pair the other conferences with a major bowl as well and get the same effect.

 

Just let the kids play for the conference title, and then a bowl championship. The national title is about nothing but marketing and opinion. Settle the national championship debate and the media will just find another controversy. Nobody worried about this before media mouthpieces started crying about it anyway.

Actually just take all the conference champions from each conference and let that be your playoff. Then you put the conference champs into a lottery of balls that swish around and the two balls that pop out they play each other. then you keep doing this until you are left with two teams so no one can complain they didn't play some team and thus had an easier road. problem solved.
