MUTigerFan
for anyone not exclusively interested in football... Dusty Jonas made the US Olympic team and is in or on the way to Beijing to compete in the high jump. (begins 8/17) And Brittany Timko - former Husker - is on the 18 player roster of the Canadian Olympic soccer squad, which won the opening round game today over Argentina, 2-1. Quote Link to comment

MUTigerFan
thats cool, is there any tigers competing for olympic gold? Yea - former Tigers Christian Cantwell in the shot put, and Ben Askren in wrestling. Quote Link to comment
MUTigerFan
Christian Cantwell - Mizzou - won Silver in the Shot Put. Dusty Jonas failed to make the finals of the High Jump - jumped 6 inches less than his 7'8" earlier in the year. Priscilla Lopes-Schliep - former Husker - qualified for the women's 100 m final (running) - 5th overall. Priscilla's husband, Bronson Schliep, is a NU dental student, so maybe someone here knows them. Quote Link to comment
Dundermifflinite
Couple of Nebraska swimmers were present... Therese Alshammar, representing Sweden, was in the finals of the 50-meter freestyle (she's the one Dara Torres pointed out to the officials as having a ripped suit before the race started). Adam Pine, Nebraska's one and only men's NCAA champion, represented Australia in the 100-meter butterfly. Quote Link to comment
