rkhufu7 Posted October 18, 2009 Share Posted October 18, 2009 NU did not have the biggest OL in the 90s. In fact many times their OL was smaller than UW, Colorado and OU. The zone blocking required the smaller quicker OL. The Denver Broncos had the NFL's smallest OL for years running the same type of zone blocking schemes, with north/south/downhill runners that made the one cut and go. They could plug in anyone and run the ball. Why do these guys figure they need a 6'8" 310 lb LT, when a 6'5" 290 guy might do just as good and may be WAY quicker and coordinated. The same might go for having 6'3" 295 lb OGs. LEVERAGE, QUICKNESS & AGRESSIVENESS!!! Zone blocking Quote Link to comment
