bball_backer
LJS is saying that Walter Roese is one of two top candidates for their associate basketball coach position. Does anyone know why? I don't think he has ties there. Why take a coach from one of the worst power-conference teams in America? I know he is supposed to have strong recruiting ties to foreigners but so far he's managed to get two recruited and one didn't end up here while the other (Almeida) should make it, but we know all too well how that seems to go. At first I was a little disappointed to hear this - he coaches the jr. national Brazilian team, so SHOULD be able to get good Brazilian players - but then realized if he leaves, Doc has an opportunity to find a guy that will recruit even better AMERICAN boys who actually know how to play the game. Unfortunately I'm afraid if Roese leaves, Doc may just fill the vacancy with another so-so coach who doesn't have an impact on this program. Quote Link to comment
Captain K
Hawaii seems like basketball hell. I wouldn't think someone would leave to be the head coach there. If someone leaves an assistant position to take the same there, what does it say about the program he left? Quote Link to comment
redout22
Yeah seems like he accepted the job. Leaves a big hole in terms of recruiting. Quote Link to comment
