  1. With the return of three stud starters, a closer, and influx of young arms... sure you're replacing some bats but you're also bringing in exciting young guys with loads of potential... this year is gonna be fun. I'm a little surprised more people aren't talking about it yet. The run to a B1G Title and hosting a regional begins in a mere 29 days!
  2. Shields - definitely in a bit of a sophomore slump. I think there's more to his injury than just a recent bump in the OSU game. His explosiveness in the pre-season and first couple games was markedly different from he's displayed the past ten games or so. Webster - I think he seems to be coming around. He shows flashes of brilliance, but it's followed by ten minutes of blah. Part of his problem could very well be injury related. I don't know if Miles is going to comment on it anytime, but he's having some issues. Not sure how much that's playing a part, but could explain why he's really not shooting much.
  3. After this weekend I was finally ready to hang up my "BO-liever" shirt and put him on the hot seat. The sixth year shouldn't be a carbon copy of the previous 5. HOWEVER, after the release of this audio and his presser today, I'm 100% back behind him. At least for now. Who hasn't said something behind closed doors that they would never want to be released to the public? The guy was less than an hour removed from an INTENSE game after an INTENSE week. He was blowing off steam to a couple confidants. If at the end of the season Bo has 4 losses, I'm all for preparing to move on without him. But for now, I just want wins. And being a bad fan on gamedays - which much of Memorial stadium is - isn't going to help. I will be the one chanting "Bo Bo Bo" when he comes out of the tunnel and I hope the rest of you will join in.
  4. His weight is not a huge issue. As bshirt316 said, he's closer to 300 and he's not all flab, there's muscle there. This is not AA.
  5. he hit 1000 quickly. we did our part... bring it home, Timmy!
  6. ✨ER_3-SlowMo!!!✨ ‏@ElbertRobinson8 24m I need a 1,000 followers before the end of today
  7. Smith is a hell of a recruiter. Dude works his ass off.
  8. Holy, he actually is talking about the NBA? He could very well be a gem. This kid may be a star. He has great potential, but no one needs to worry about him going pro after a year. He's very good right now, but he is not top 20 player in American college good. The future is outstandingly brighter with him, but rest assured he's not going pro after one year.
  9. FWIW, the issue is not that he's failing High School. Entrance exams are completely different than passing/failing HS.
  10. What would Ed Cunningham say about the UCLA players "yucking it up" while a player lays hurt.... douche.
  11. I don't see how Rex could start, but after seeing everything he's done in his career it seems rather foolish to count him out of anything.
  12. you are probably right. i am assuming that erstad thinks, and rightfully so, the only way the huskers make the NCAA tournament is to win the conference tournament. as a consequence, the three weekend starters won't play much if any on Tuesday. however, if they started Kubat or Bummer, that would give them either 4 or 5 days rest before they pitched again. i would probably go with Bummer as Kubat has only been back a month and will really need him for the Big 10 tournament. oh well, we will see. Nebraska's not throwing any weekend starters on Tuesday. That would only give them 3-4 days rest for the Michigan series (Thu.-Fri.-Sat.). Nebraska will start somebody like Pierce or Niederklein, while King, Chesnut, Howell, Hoppes and Hawkins will probably all enter the game at some point. Dylan Vogt and Josh Roeder might face a batter or two or three just for kicks. This game is meaningless, as you say. This. As much as I want to beat Creighton, Tuesday doesn't matter one lick. The ONLY thing I want out of it is to see the bats still warm.
  13. Minnesota and NU both have winning percentages of .667. If they both go 2-1 next weekend, a likely scenario, they both remain at .667 and NU wins the tie-breaker. It's all based on conference winning percentage and nothing else. Nebraska needs to take care of business next weekend, hope for at least one Minnesota loss, and any outcome in the the OSU/IND series other than OSU going 2-1 (as that would give NU, OSU, IND the same winning percentage and NU loses the tie-breaker to both teams).
  14. Getting him to campus is still going to be hard. Keith Law still projects him at 40 and it is very possible that someone will take him around there and offer him a little more money than usual because they know the deal they're getting that low.
  15. Simple question: What kind of player will Shavon be going forward? Were Doc still here, I believe he'd be the stud of the team the next three years. With Miles, however, I think he'll be that consistent guy that sometimes has a loud 20 and 10 night, and other nights has a quiet 12 and 8 but makes key stops/buckets at key times. With the talent Miles seems to be going after, I don't think Shavon will be the "star" for three years, but I very well could be wrong. Edit - If he develops a dynamic outside shooting presence as Miles has suggested, he may very well be The Guy for the next three years.
  16. Also considered crossing out Vucetic and Peltz, but left them because technically they will be on the roster. The other two are not worth mentioning as they'll be lucky to pick up towels after practice. Nothing against them, they're both good kids (from the little I know them) and are "try-ers", but while they will practice next year, it'll be obvious they don't belong.
  17. It's a timing issue. Recruiting to Nebraska is all about relationships. Miles and staff got the kids they did because they spent time building a relationship and convincing them of what their plan is. With these last few guys, they've giving Nebraska a look because of the facilities, but you can't make a snap decision to go to a joke of a program over a stable program, and at this point in the game snap decisions are what's being made because of the approaching deadline.
  18. Talking about Nebraska recruit Ryan Boldt (never want to see a kid get injured, but this may be a blessing for Erstad): keithlaw ‏@keithlaw7h Drops him out of first round. Might get him to Nebraska RT @StPatrickGuy: How does Boldt's knee injury affect his Draft position this June?
  19. Link This ^^^^^^ If this litany of schools (which ALL have hoop pedigrees more impressive than Nebraska ) believe he is worth a schollie, it seems a little puzzling that "fan" opinions would/should carry much weight in terms of his "worthiness" 1 - I don't think any of us who were hoping he didn't get a scholly expected our opinions to carry any weight. We were stating how we felt after watching a few highlights. I fully trust Miles to make the right decision, he's much smarter than I. 2 - We were right, as evidenced by no offer.
  20. I don't think Miles will be able to pull it off, but this guy has HUGE potential. After his freshman year at Chipola people were saying the NBA was in his future. If he's healthy, this kid could be a stud.
  21. The previous ball he threw was bad. Its cold and he just made a perfect throw. You have to make him try and throw him out it was the right call. I'm perfectly fine with being aggressive, but they had made a defensive substitution to put a better arm in left, he was very shallow, and had the ball in his glove before Kash had hit 3rd. Bolt is a great coach and I love his offensive philosophy, but that was absolutely 100% the wrong call.
  22. This is crazy. This kid can play basketball. We can use a guard with size and some athleticism. Looks like a Mike Dunleavy / Chandler Parsons / Gordon Hayward type. "Can shoot but we don't need that' ---->> Are you kidding me? Did you watch any of our games last year? Ray Gallegos was our "Best Shooter" and he shot about 30.6% 3pt and 36.1% FG -- that is not good shooting especially considering the volume. We need kids who can shoot first and foremost. We need size too. This guy would be a great addition - we would be lucky to get him. Hope he likes his visit. There is no point in saving a scholarship. It would be better to take too many guys and have to have someone transfer. That happens all the time when new coaches come to town. Or we could rely on walkons for depth that could work too. Yes, there is. Doc didn't try to save scholarships, it leads to taking guys you haven't fully evaluated or taking guys not good enough to elevate your program and then when you find a guy you want, you don't have room for him. You also can't play the transfer game as the NCAA is clamping down on that a bit and Nebraska is close to being on thin ice from all the Doc transfers. This thing can't be built overnight, it's worth saving a scholarship or two if it means taking a quality player the next year as opposed to a marginal player taking up a roster spot for four years.
  23. I find I'm much happier now that I go into any midweek game assuming they'll use 10 pitchers and give up at least 15 runs. If Kubat, Bummer or DeLeon isn't starting the game isn't important to post-season play.
