knapplc
It'll be interesting to see how long Penn State can keep that win streak going. It's no problem being ranked behind them right now. They're just a hell of a team. Quote Link to comment
Husker Runner
It'll be interesting to see how long Penn State can keep that win streak going. It's no problem being ranked behind them right now. They're just a hell of a team. Penn State will be lucky to be undefeated after September 10th and 11th when they play Florida then Texas or Stanford, and especially after 9/24 when they play Illinois. They lost Hodge and Glass to graduation (both playing on the National Team now) and Dorton is out with an injury. There is a good chance they will have freshmen starting at setter and one or both OH spots. That is not a recipe for a national championship. Russ Rose is a hell of a coach but preseason #1 is a bit ridiculous. I think Rose's term was "foolish" and he has them finishing #3 in the Big 10, LOL. Putting Penn State at the top shows how little time and effort the coaches spend on this poll and studying teams not on their schedule. (Of course, no sooner do I make that comment than the freshmen will come out playing like Hodge and Glass, right out of the gate. LOL.) Texas lost Bailey Webster (2009 #1 national recruit) to a knee injury today, almost certainly for the season. That is a tough break for the Longhorns, and I wish her the best with her surgery on the 27th and with her recovery. I have met Bailey and she came across as a likeable individual. I was expecting her to have a great year. Illinois should be really, really good this season, I have them #3 on my preseason list. I'll get to see them play in Austin on September 3rd so looking forward to that. Nebraska or Stanford should be the preseason #1. Not that the preseason poll matters, it will all be settled soon enough on the court anyway. :-) On a side note, Iowa State will be playing all of their home games in the Ames High School gym this season. knapplc
Good updates, Runner. Sucks for ISU. That's a heck of a blow to a team on the rise. I hope CJ has them ready to play despite the crummy distractions. I'm just glad Destiny Hooker graduated. After the regular season ended I was glad not to have to face her anymore... until I saw our seed. That girl was liquid lightning, and while she was fun to watch, I hated to watch her on the other side of the net so often. Quote Link to comment
