The requirement for non-athletes at UNL is a class ranking in the upper half or a 20 on the ACT. There are legitimate arguments on the efficacy of test scores for determining aptitude and likelihood of academic success, but here the bar is set very low for student athletes by the NCAA (17 ACT or 820 SAT). The average ACT score in Nebraska is 22 so the requirement is definitely well below average. In the long run it was better than we adopted stiffer regulations on partial qualifiers sooner rather than later. It has become the norm for all NCAA schools and from an academic standpoint was the right thing to do. Quote Link to comment
