Conga3 Posted October 24, 2012 Share Posted October 24, 2012 You must be very careful when discussing this because there are two VERY different scenarios at play here : You examine an organization as a whole and find the average salary for men higher than women. You examine a certain position/level within an organization and find men with a higher average salary. The linked article is making an argument using scenario #1. The records, for instance, show seven (7) women in 2011 making the top salary of $172,200. Among them is one of Obama's closest confidants, senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. But there were 14 men making the top salary, including adviser David Plouffe who ran the president's 2008 campaign. Equal Pay / Equal Work is about scenario #2. The author of this article should be suspended from typing words on the internet for at least 60 days, unpaid. (90 days if it was a woman) Link to comment
