I count 18 players that went on to the NFL.

Compare that to Miami:

I count 39 players that went on to the NFL.

And a hell of a lot of 1st rounders. Some of them turned out to be very good players, moreso than Tennessee.

So, as I stated. "Not really"

27 for our 1995 cornhuskers and IIRC roughly the same # for our 1997 team.

1997 Tennessee would still give 2001 Miami a pretty good game.

Perhaps. Hard to say... I think they would have given 2001 Miami a better game than 2001 Nebraska.

Agreed. That game remains an embarrassment to this day.

Of course, the most epic battle of all time would be 1995 Nebraska vs. 2001 Miami. If I had a college football magic wand, that's what I would conjure up.

Heck, I'd have them play best-two-of-three. That would be an awesome series of games.

Do I think 2001 Miami is the best other than 1995 Nebraska in my lifetime? Yes I do. But I think USC would make a game of it against 2001 Miami as would several others. 2001 Miami had the most talent of any squad I can remember, but they didn't play as relentlessly as Nebraska's teams did.

It would be a great game to watch, I agree.

Well 95 beat 4 highly ranked teams. Spanked a supposed faster Florida team at the time. M

01 Canes had a ton of first round talent but only played a decent Va Tech team which nearly beat them.

To me 95 seems more logical but that's why we debate.

And needed one of the most freakish plays in the history of football to beat Boston College.
