huKSer
Got an old compaq laptop. I picked it up the other night and the far left side bracket that connects the keyboard to the screen disconnected from the keyboard. came off the bottom and the screen is wobbly. Should I try to pry the bracket back on? Or should I take it to a computer shop? (The power to the screen has to go through one (if not both) the brackets.) Quote Link to comment
strigori
If you have any ability to do the work, do it yourself. Taking it to a shop will likely cost more than the price of a new laptop. Quote Link to comment
huKSer
Yeah, two of the prongs on the left side popped out of their brackets. Tried to pop it back and bent/broke one of them. Did a internet search and it seems that its not unusual problem - but they talked about re-ordering the entire hinge assembly (prongs broke off) I think I can try to open up the computer like they showed and just put the old hinge in. Or there's duct tape. 1 Quote Link to comment
strigori
If you can follow along with a youtube video and work a screwdriver, you shouldn't have any real problem doing a replacement. Changing out most computer parts is far less complicated than many think. Quote Link to comment
