Perlman's role with the athletic department

Only one school has ever been voted out of the AAU...

Now, you may have a point that it is nothing but a snob club, but the fact remains that Perlman tried very hard to stay in it...and couldn't. A smarter man would have voluntarily withdrawn and put the best spin on it...right? Something like, "We know who we are and what we're doing, and the AAU and Nebraska must now part ways, since we have charted different paths to excellence." Instead, Perlman moped about Georgetown during the purge, too embarrassed to attend the dinner and too proud to go home and not brave enough to pull the plug himself.

As for the traveling / lodging / dining expenses, too many and too varied to be covered by the blanket statement "paid for by private funds", unless one wants to amend that to say "paid for by private funds when found out and called on it." Sloppy bookkeeping will always incur the wrath of an auditor, that's a given.

UNL is ranked 99th in colleges and universities in the U.S. News and World Report annual survey. That is tied with St. Louis University and Missouri, for what that is worth. It isn't "unprecedented" since UNL had been ranked 89th in 2008.

But we are attempting to argue opinions here, and there is no right or wrong opinions. Like trying to agree on what makes the perfect plate at a Chinese buffet...
