NUinID
I have watched a lot of OSU games since the late 80s. There have been many OSU teams under Cooper and Tressel with just as many "athletes" and speed as the 2014 Buckeyes. But since this version of OSU has a former SEC coach and they beat an SEC blue blood, these OSU athletes are being sold by ESPN as an "SEC-type" team. This is very true, OSU has always had athletes just like Alabama or Miami or FSU always has athletes. That was always the knock on Cooper he always had really good teams, but never that great team. It just takes the right coach to get them playing to there potential. You have to have "IT" or whatever to make it happen. Quote Link to comment
Coqui
SEC fans calling Meyer an SEC coach. I sh#t you not. Same thing after beating Bama and national media saying Urban went out and got SEC players, yet I debunked it by going throught their roster and two-deep and the number of players from "southern" states is very low. SEC coach. heh. Urban is from ohio. Trained in Ohio. Cut his teeth in Ohio and the frickin WAC or Mountain or whatever the hell, and spent a whoppin whole 5 years in the SEC, which is a minute fraction of his coaching career. What the heck is an SEC coach? Saban (West Virginia) and Miles (Ohio) weren't originally southern guys. Les Miles (Ohio) Youre not very good at this... Urban Meyer (Ohio) What I really meant, but I was too tired from the night before. Quote Link to comment

The loss to Saban in 1998 still hurts many Buckeye fans. That team had some great athletes. If only they could of run up the score on Saban this year. Indeed, OSU came into the season #1 and dominated everyone that year except MSU. I thought it was their year after falling just short in '95 and '96. Studs everywhere on that team. If I remember right OSU got out to a big lead and let it slip away then committed a couple late turnovers. Only if they had a 4-team playoff that year. It was Tenn and FSU in the NCG. Worst 5 minutes of my Ohio State fandom during my college career Let's see: A decent 1994 team losing in final minute to Bama A loaded 1995 team losing to Peyton Manning & Tenn. 1997 getting shellacked by FSU 2006 team mysteriously laying an egg against Florida - all sorts of rumors of what happened, I like the one about Troy Smith sleeping with A. Gonzales' girlfried just before the game. 2008 #10 ranked OSU losing in final minute to #3 texas. These are the lowest points for me. OK enough Debbie Downer Quote Link to comment
